  1. I read this recipe and it sounded really good. I can't find the original one (the one that you bake in the oven) but here's this one. No-Noodle Lasagna This recipe is suitable for the pureed food stage. Ingredients: Low fat ricotta cheese Spaghetti sauce (look for sugar free sauce) Grated parmesan cheese Directions: Put two tablespoons of ricotta cheese in a bowl. Top with one tablespoon of spaghetti sauce and one tablespoon of grated parmesan cheese. Microwave for three minutes. Variation: One you progress to the soft stage, you can add cooked ground beef to the lasagna if you like.
  2. Glad you are doing well Betty !!! I am on full liquid through Wednesday. can't wait to begin the mushy phase.
  3. Yum that sounds good.....I can't wait until I can start the mushy phase. I'm on full liquids through Wednesday. Doc requires 10 days. I'm dying to try that noodleless lasagna that I've been reading about lol..
  4. well I know I've just lost 20 lbs. so far however I just had a NSV. My neighbor, whom I haven't seen since I started the pre-op diet two weeks ago, just saw me outside and said I looked great and looked like I had lost a little weight. I beamed and said yes, I'm trying to watch what I eat, lol. Just made me feel good so I thought I'd share. happy moment, can't wait for more moments like that
  5. Words of advice, just because you are starting to feel better after surgery, don't push yourself too soon. Today is the first day I started feeling myself again and I overdid it. Decided to vacuum my house and sit two hours straight at the computer. DEFINITELY regretting this. My pain is back. BIG mistake. Nothing I can do now but live and learn !!
  6. Hi Shantel, I had surgery on Monday. I felt the same way you did. Today's the first day I'm feeling better. Stay hopeful and take your pain meds. I really think that's what helped me. It relaxed my body so much.
  7. It will get better. I have to say today is the first day that I feel semi-normal. Still having a little port pain but overall a huge improvement. Am able to get down my two shakes, Jello, broth and ice pops. It will get better, believe me, I didn't think it ever would.
  8. I'm doing okay so far. Drinking tea, diluted juice, sf jello, sf ice pops, and broth and taking my multi-vitamin and calcium chew. Tried some tomato soup but I don't think that was the best of ideas. Are you getting your liquids in?
  9. me too NewMe, I did great with no gas pains until yesterday, now I'm having gas pains right in the center of my chest. I keep burping. ugh.
  10. Jami, I am suffering the same pain you are....left hand side, under my breast. The doctor told me that it's inflammation around the port and assured me that it will get better. Actually today it's doing a lot better than it was and I had surgery on Monday. I had a problem with the constipation. I hadn't gone since last Sunday. It was like cement (I know, TMI). I took stool softeners and that didn't work. Finally had to take a dulcolax suppository and that worked. Now to prevent it (which I hope it does), I'm taking 1 tablespoon of Miralax everyday in a hot cup of tea. You don't even taste it. I also am adding 2 teaspoons of Benefiber to my Protein shakes in the hope that will help. I just keep telling myself this is all for a good cause. I want to be healthy. It's hard to stay positive when you feel so crappy but we have to try Just know, I'm feeling your pain too.
  11. Betty I know how you feel. I'm day 5 post op, a lot better don't get me wrong, but I still have pain especially by the port. It even hurts sometimes to take a deep breath. The first night or two I was in so much pain I questioned my decision in having the surgery. Like Carolinagirl says, we had major surgery but I honestly didn't expect to have this kind of pain either but it's done. I have to remember why I'm doing this and keep moving forward. I promise you that each day it gets a little better. Just know there are people with you right now going through just what you're going through....if that helps. Feel better !!
  12. I am glad it's over too. I am post-op since Monday and I am still sore but it's getting better each day. I still can't sleep on my side. I really miss that. I am still having a lot of soreness on my left side where my port is and today I ran a fever so I'm not quite there yet. I still have to take the pain meds at night. That's when it hurts the most.
  13. Thanks everyone. My fever has broken for now. Let's hope it stays broken, LOL. Thanks for all the support !!
  14. Thank you. He is a wonderful doctor and I'm trying hard to just stay relaxed and calm. It's hard to get all the liquids in too because I have no appetite whatsoever. I refuse to take any pain meds during the day, only at night if I need it.
  15. I called Dr. Fielding's office and they said to take Tylenol and call back if it hits 101. I'm worried about it being an infection of some sort. I just want to feel better already. Had surgery on Monday and still feeling really sore and generally weak.
  16. Glad to hear that you are doing good Betty !!
  17. You are going to be okay. I was a wreck like you. Had my lapband surgery done on Monday, hanging in. Will say lots of prayers for you
  18. I waited until the day I had to start. I didn't stop early. I had my favorite meal the night before actually. I did fine on the pre-op diet without changing my eating habits prior. You'll hear mixed reviews on this one but for me, the way I did it worked. Good luck.
  19. I would like to add a ticker. How do I do that?
  20. I had lapband surgery on May 5th. I wore a very loose long sundress and flip flops. I highly recommend bringing a soft pillow to hold against your stomach for the ride home. Those pot holes can cause pretty bad pain. Also, I recommend doing SlimFast High Protein Shakes. I lost 12 lbs. pre-op with these and am now having 2 a days as instructed. I didn't start these until today (Day 3). Monday and Tuesday all I was told to have was water, tea and broth. Today I have ventured out and had some diluted juice and tomato soup (which was awesome btw) in addition to the broth, tea, ice pops and other sf drinks. Day 1 and Day 2 were very painful for me. I took the paid meds around the clock and it really helped. I also went out and bought junior motrin (I chew 4 of them) and this helps with the inflammation from the surgery itself and has helped cut down on the pain. Good luck, you will do just fine!!
  21. Thank you everyone. Had to break down and call the hospital because I got nervous. They said it's delayed inflammation pressing against my diaphragm and that I should take 4 junior motrin which I did and continue my pain meds. It seems to be helping. I think I messed up before though. I had to take 3 of those Calcium chews a day and I took one and forgot and didn't chew it well enough and swallowed a rather large chunk. I can feel it inside my tr. Any suggestions? drink a warm liquid? I'm thinking that it will eventually dissolve but it's hurting a bit.
  22. Thank you. It's on my left side, under my breast. It's near the port. It's pretty bad pain. Can barely take a breath without feeling the pain.
  23. I am walking and walking as much as I can and am still getting bad gas pains. Can I take Gas-X Strips? Just called my doctor but they said they can only connect to the on-call dr. if this is an emergency. I kinda feel like it is an emergency but figured i'd ask here if gas-x strips work. Thanks.
  24. Thanks everyone for your words of encouragement. I have that dreaded left shoulder pain too, trying to walk as much as I can. Can't wait till this part's behind me.
  25. Well I survived. They had a problem with my breathing tube so I can barely speak. My throat is so sore but other than that the surgery went fine. Dr. was really pleased about my 12 lb. pre-op weight lost. Didn't have a good night sleeping. Having a lot of pain and soreness, taking the liquid pain meds that the doc prescribed. It helps so I recommend everyone take if. All I can have today is tea, Water and broth today. I am insulin dependent so I'm struggling with that too. Managed to get a cup of tea down this morning. All I can do is keep trying. Please tell me it gets better....
