  1. I would think 30 minutes since they don't want us to eat for 30 minutes after drinking.
  2. Take a step back, is it gas pain or real pain from the surgery?
  3. Had surgery on 8/5, my mom ended up staying with me. I would recommend someone staying with u the first night. Sometimes the nursing staff can't come right when you need them.
  4. You're gonna do fine. I'll say a prayer for you to guide the hands of the surgeons and for a speedy recovery.
  5. I know it's not the same but get you some chocolate protein shakes. Good luck with everything!
  6. There are a lot of things that we shouldn't have after surgery; however, there are a lot of things that we can still have just in strict moderation. Mt dew is probably one of those things we shouldn't have because of the carbonation. So, drink up and enjoy. Good luck with everything.
  7. Maybe you'll be fine. Just keep your head up. I lost 11 pounds a week before surgery doing protein shakes for breakfast and lunch and then a small meal for dinner.
  8. Did you have to lose a certain amount of weight before surgery and do you already have insurance approval?
  9. I was gassy myself. I had mine on the 5th. Glad everything went ok for you.
  10. It is normal to be scared. Just have faith in God that he will guide the hands of the surgical staff and you will be fine.
  11. You are going to do fine. It is a very stressful situation. But keep your head up and know that God is always in control!!! He will guide the hands of the surgical staff so that you will have a safe surgery. I'll keep you in my prayers.
  12. So, I'm doing ok now. Was having a lot of issues with the gas not passing and nausea. I have had very little pain medicine though. Hope all is well with you.
  13. I sure will. Thanks for everyone's support. Love it!!!!!
  14. Well, today is the big day!!!! I'm really nervous but trying to be calm for my family because their nerves are worse than mine. Hope everyone is doing good this morning.

  16. Rooster, I'm getting so excited, 4 more days left for us! By the way i got your friend request in my email, can't figure out how to except it through the phone app.
  17. That is awesome! Glad to hear that things are going better for you. You can do this!!!! YES! Most definitely you should do this before and after surgery..it helps with hunger and it allows you to get your needed protein in post-op when your tummy is too small to have it all at once. well I made it thru the weekend! Yesterday seemed like a turning point. No nausea, no stomach growling, yay! Best part is I stepped on the scale this morning and am down 5 lbs since last Wednesday, not even a week! Woo Hoo!!
  18. Good luck!!!! Hope everythino works out for you. It definitely is a process that will teach you patience. Lol
  19. That's awesome. Been doing the liquid diet since Tuesday and haven't lost a thing!!! Very frustrating. I'm 36 (5'3) and just got down to 301 from 333 on my pre-surgery diet. My surgery is scheduled on the 18th of August!
  20. Can you spread the shakes out? Like drink a little bit every 30 minutes just to help with the hunger.
  21. That's wonderful that your surgical center backs you up like that. Keep us posted on how your doing.
  22. Good luck with everything! And yes it is a roller coaster. I'm lucky in the fact that my insurance doesn't spin you around and around. They tell you what you have to have and that's is. The hardest part was doing a 6 month supervised diet program. The waiting was the hardest part.
  23. How long did you have to do the shakes? My Dr didn't put us shakes. We just have to eat a high Protein, low carb, low fat, no sugar diet. I chose to do shakes because of I don't, I'll end up eating something I shouldn't. I've been doing shakes since Tuesday and haven't even lost 1 pound on them. It makes me even more ready for the surgery!!!!! As far as your nausea, have you tried different shakes? What are you mixing them with? When I drink my shake, I spread it out over a 3 hour period. I couldn't drink all of it at once. Plus it helps keep me satisfied until is time for the next one. You and me both. My date is also august 5th and scared to death. My date is Aug 6. I'm on my pre-op diet and it's not going so well. I didn't think it would be bad, but suddenly the Protein Shakes and soups are making me nauseous and I have to lay down after eating them. Not liking this, but am taking it day by day. I'm excited but scared. I hope this nausea is not forever!
  24. You are so right!!!!! I too try not to talk about it because I feel like the people that know are tired of hearing about the surgery. However, some days, I'm a nervous wreck and have to talk about it or I feel like I will bust lol. These feelings are really crazy. I've gotten better though. I've been praying every day and I now have a peace about it. I'm still nervous, which we all should be, but the extreme emotions have pretty much calmed down. I do dread the attitude changes that others will have towards me. I've been told by others that people will change towards you. Some for the better and some for worse. But I'm the type of person that will call you out on your attitude. So I've been praying about that too. We have 10 more days as of today!!!!!! You and me both. My date is also august 5th and scared to death.
