This is one of the reasons I have stayed away from these boards... I peek now and then when I am board.. this one caught my eye... Lapbandit expressed an opionion and she is ponced on... NOT everyone has been susscessful with there band.. if you are an overeater....the chances of continuing to overeat is most likey going to continue. I really believe that if you could not stay on a diet before the band... you will not be able to after banding!.. and you will need to diet to rid yourself of the excess weight!...we did not get to be obese because we have been able to say no to food!... Someone brought up smoking and drugs.. well you don't need to smoke or do drugs to survive... you have to EAT!!.. you can't just give up food. Can't someone come to these boards and just lay it out there without being beat up on. NOT everyone is happy about their decision to have this surgery and they are entitled to there opinions! Since I have good restriction... I CAN NOT Drink anything for at least 15 mins after I eat or it comes right back up....

I was banded on 4/6/05.... I feel my port... and at times I can feel food pass through my band.. not all the time ... but at times I do feel the food pass through... it isn't a bad feeling .. it feels weird..

The band will help you lose weight to a point.. you will have to diet off the rest... my band helped me lose 45lbs and now I have to work at loosing the rest. The big difference with the band is that I haven't gained back the weight!!.... and that is a huge thing!! Bandster since 4/6/05 Kathy:whoo:

Hi... I have not been to the laptalk boards for about a year now... just didn't have what I was looking for. Now I am 2 years with my band and I would love to go somewhere and not get slammed for speaking my mind about my band. Most of the boards are visited by pre op and post op.. with lots of questions.. just like I was... Now I am not always happy with my band and would love to go somewhere to whine... and not get a book of advice on why my band isn't working for me....

Hi there.... I am still here.. been a long long time since I posted... kinda staying away.. Reality... my band is full to capasity and I have little to no restriction.. really considering having it removed... I have lost about 35 - 40 pounds... and now I am yo yoing 5-8 pounds up and down... really depressing... really thought I would at goal by now.. now I am just happy I am not gaining the 35-40 pounds back ... okay.. just rattling on here...

I loved Phen Phen.. it was the best thing I had ever taken that actually helped me loose weight!.. I still wish that it would come back on the market!.. maybe one day...

Hi Schel.. First...If you feel your child may have ADD you need to have your child evaluated by a qualified doctor. If the doctor feels your child may have ADD you need to have the school district do an evaluation and put into place the services he may need. I know this sound a lot but you need to do what is right for your child... not you. What I mean by that is DON'T worry about your child being labeled!... you will only be hurting your child!.. your child is young and if he doesn't get the right intervention now he will suffer thoughout his entire life... I have a son with Cerebral Palsy... so I have been there done that.. If you have any questions please ask... your son is very young right now.. and it is hard to deal with the fact that he may or may not have a problem. But you need to do what is right for him.

Hi Angel... 5cc's in a 4cc band is the max.. you cannot get anymore into it...

Hi Jenna... Wow... you are taking on a biggie... emotionally disabled children can be a real challange!... there are a few in Mikey's class this year... he is in a self contained.. 8-1-2 this year... I give you a lot of credit.. there aren't a lot of people who would go into teaching any child who is emotionally anything!.. You must be a really special person... thank you...!

I have a son with cerebral palsy... and I started a yahoo group for parents with special needs children on the east end of Long Island... one of the moms on the group posted the link to the video on the boy with autism..I saw the link to the lapband video while I was looking at the other video.

When you have good restriction... YOU CANNOT DRINK when you eat... it will come right back at ya!! Not a good feeling at all. After a while you will get used to not drinking with your meals.

Hi Everyone... Just wanted to say last nights chat room was fun.. :typing: I had never seen so many people in the chat room before.. Usually when I go into the chat room there is no one there. I have been away from LBT for a little while now... my own reasons.. fell off the wagon a bit.. still off but I thought I would come back and try to jump back on the wagon and instead I have some really interesting threads.. I haven't stopped laughing all morning... don't know why I have avoided coming here... I really needed to laugh.. thank you !!!!!!!

I was so afraid I wouldn't be able to eat salads anymore.. but thank goodness I CAN!.. I just cut it up really small.. and It goes down with no problem..

Hi.. I have been taking effexor for well over a year now.. I had no problems taking my meds after surgery.. Effexor is one of the meds that is time released and you cannot open the capsule and take it that way...

I have 5cc's in my 4cc band!!.. my doctor could not get anymore saline into my band... I am filled to the brim!!!.. And to answer your question... Yes.. I have wonderful restriction. I was really worried that after 5 fills that I would never have restriction. BUT I DO!!!

I spent many years blaming god for my son being born with cerebral palsy. I spent many years finding my way back to him!.. It has taken some time but I no longer blame God for all the things that have gone wrong in my life... I truly believe every thing that happens to us has been predetermined by God... We learn every day.. lessons that God wants us to learn... When it comes to my beautiful son.. I have learned patience.. I have learned pure love!... as for being obese.. I have learned that I can take control of my life and change it... I can... I can with the help of a tool that God has given to us... its up to me now to make it work. Oh yeah.. one more thing.... I do believe miracles CAN HAPPEN!!!

I always buy the same thing for all my baby showers... I get a really cute diaper bag and fill it with all the things a new mommy needs when she takes her new baby out!... its always a hit..

Just wanted to share a funny story.. Last Friday my daughters boyfriends parents wanted to go to dinner.. (after 3 years of dating it was about time we got together).. I went shopping for an outfit to wear.. settled on black pants and a nice sweater.. felt wonderful to get a nice outfit that fit nicely. Chose the restaurant keeping in mind what I would eat there... made reservations... Friday came about an hour before they were to meet us at our home I hit the shower.. Did my hair...did my makeup.. got dressed and put on my shoes!... MY SHOES DIDN'T FIT! :rofl: I never thought about my shoes!.. I didn't have another pair that would match my outfit.. I had to go to in my sneakers!!! how horrible is that!.. his parents didn't seem to mind.. kinda got a kick out of the story... I kept my feet firmly planted under the table all night!!! Dinner was wonderful and the company was even better... Lesson Learned!.. always check the shoes!
