For those doing revision surgery - May I ask you your story??

Welcome Sky! So now you are the 1st batter up in August!!! You will need to post daily so lovyac and I will know what to exe on the 4th and 5th! lol

Sorry - see where lovy is having hers on the 4th..So YOU get to start this for all of us! You will need to check in as soon as you can after surgery since I will be going in the next morning. Only 18 more days!!!

So looks like so far I will be the first for the month...scary! Guess I will need to post every day after surgery to let you know what each day brings! lol. Are you all as scared as I am? One minute I am excited about it and find myself dreaming of the new me - the next my stomach turns and I am asking myself what the heck am I doing! What part of AK are in in kitten? Went on cruise last year to Alaska - scenery was mind blowing. Disappointed because I didnt see any whales though!

I wasnt really on the fence. I did a LOT of research as I am sure everyone else has done. I went in wanting the sleeve. Didnt really like the idea of rerouting things. I had several abdominal surgeries in the past the last of which was bowels - so I didnt want mine messed with. BUT after getting back my uppger GI tests the doctor said I he wouldnt recommend the sleeve because I had acid reflux and it would more than likely get worse with the sleeve - so he wanted to do the bypass. BUT - I have a lot of scar tissue from the 4 other abdominal surgeries - so he doesnt really know if he will be able to do bypass. So it will actually be a surprise when I wake up...In the meantime I am having to reach out for info and support from both surgeries just so I am as informed as I can be on them both.

Ok so creating a forum didnt really work..So I created a chat room called August Surgeries. Because I dont know what surgery my doctor will end up doing until he gets in there - I dont want to have to choose what forum I need to be in - I need input from both gastric bypass and sleevers! So if anyone interested in going through all of this with me - thats a place we can talk.

Audry'grandma - I also have an issue with wanting to eat more. I have a major sweet tooth and have been stuffing my face with cupcakes for fear of never getting to have them again! lol. Problem with that is we are only going backwards by gaining extra weight. On top of that I am trying to quit smoking or my surgeon wont touch me - so that also makes me want to eat more!! So since all of us want buddies - anyone interested in creating new group where we can keep in contact? I also have facebook page - but have not told everyone so didnt want to have posts on there... BTW - my name is Ruth and I am in Atlanta GA...46 years old

Everything I have read and seen on here has lead me to believe that I shouldnt spend money on shakes either because of the taste buds. Believe me - I am an investigative person in my professional life - so I am darn sure putting in the work to learn as much about this as I can. Sometimes think I am learning too much and getting info overload! Thanks for the sugesstions on the choc/vanilla and gas x. I plan on making a surgery bag based on all the suggestions I have read on here. Chap stick is another thing that I know to take based on my own surgery history. I will definately get me some of the mouth spray! I remember from other surgeries how thirsty I was - and to know they wont let me have anything for a while - great suggesstion!

21 - WOW thats a lot of issues for someone so young. I pray that everything goes well with the revision Beckyy93! Your story is exactly what I am afraid of!

I am 46 - will be 47 in November...

Mine is scheduled for Aug 5th. I go to preop on July 28th. I TOTALLY agree that this is an emotional roller coaster. One second I am so excited then the next a feel like throwing up. So many fears. For 1 my mother died during surgery a few years ago - 2nd I dont even know what my actual surgery will be. Wanted sleeve - but due to GERD doc suggested bypass BUT have lots of scar tissue from 4 other abdominal surgeries ( tumor removal - 6ks later complete hysterectomy - few years later gall bladder and then 1 year ago twisted bowel) so he may not be able to do the bypass and would instead do the sleeve. SO it will be a surprise! I also have to stop smoking or my doc won’t do the surgery - so that is also creating havoc on my nerves! I know that I will be able to get through this and I am confident I will be a success - but it doesn’t stop the nerves from shorting out every now and then! lol I have always been bigger than the rest of my family and friends. I was always the "big girl with the pretty face”. Hate that saying! I have always tried to hide behind laughter by making fun of myself before anyone else had the chance to do it. Outside you would never know that I am so self-conscience and insecure - but I am. I always feel judged and afraid of..what I dont know...but inside I know there is a skinnier - healthier person just waiting to get out! I can see that person in my mind and cant wait to finally meet her! So good luck to all of us and here is to a wonderful journey we can all go on together! I am here for anyone who wants to reach out!! Lets do this!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear you had issues - but glad to see you are doing better and dont regret your decision. I am 22 days from surgery and cant wait! PLEASE keep us posted.

Thanks everyone - and lets keep in touch so we can help each other out. I really like the idea of going through this with a support system. I spend SO much time on this site! Often think I am getting info overload though. 25 days and counting!!!

Liquids is the thing that I worry about the most! I barely drink anything now and knowing I HAVE to after surgery really scares me. I might drink a cup of coffee and maybe 1/2 glass of water. I have been trying real hard lately to get in more liquids - still not doing as much as I need but just what I have been able to get has made some changes. I find I am having more frequent BMs ( was once a week - now up to 3!) I dont have headaches everyday like I did before and my mouth doesnt feel like a desert!

So you are now at week 17! Congrats!!! Can you tell us how things have gone for you so far? By all means dont be shy with the details! lol

Would love to add you as a buddy! Where are you at with your journey? Do you have approval and all that and j waiting on surgery date??? Would love to hear your story.

Casey that sounds great! July 28th is my post op date! Starting to get really scared about the whole thing. So many changes going on right now! I am on day 3 of not smoking as well!! Had quite for 7 months but was stupid and picked them back up after my mom died.

Surgery is scheduled Aug 5th. Really excited. Wanted to find others having surgery around the same time and/or a few weeks prior so I have people going through this together with me! The closer I get the more nervous I am getting. Having to quit smoking during all this is adding to the feelings as well! I for one really appreciate the vets and all their words of wisdom! Though I also dont understand why people ask about stalls and things they know they shouldnt eat?? I am having surgery on August 5th and have spent so much time on this site as well as others trying to get in as much info as I can. Sometimes I feel like I am in info overload - but still find myself researching every day! It is a very scary thing to be doing this!!

Lucky for me all of my tats are in areas where they shouldnt have much of a change - the rose I got on my boob when I was in late 20s already turned to a long stem rose years ago! And the small bird on my back is now an eagle - but other than that I should be ok! lol. So when is your surgery?

I guess I am one of the lucky ones - I dont have to be on liquid diet! yeah!!!! I do think I am going to try it for the last week -

LMAO - love all of these! I am having my surgery Aug 5th so I will add to the stream once I realize my "I was just fat" items. I am sure I will have a loooonng list. Right now I blame everything on being fat so we will see where fat ends and "oh crap I really do have a bad back" begins!
