I was a "super healthy" fat person until surgery changed my life. Was it worth it?
I could write your same story. I am actually going to have my daughter in law and son read this to try to help them understand. They don't understand why I don't just lose the weight. (They are both tiny people who are not necessarily healthy but skinny) I have yo yo'd my entire life and always worked out, ran, biked, rollerbladed, etc.

June 9th Sleeve - Looking for friends!
I am telling very few people! My immediate family and a few close friends. I am trying to keep the girls at work in the dark, but I know they will wonder where I am for 4 weeks! I really don't know why I am hiding it. Im not ashamed of it, but I just don't want to deal with the questions before the surgery. You are off work for 4 weeks? Just curious why? I am under the impression that there is little down time. Am I wrong?? Just tell people you are watching what you are eating...that's my plan.

Shakeology anyone?
I like the ingredient list in Shake-O better than most protein shakes. That's my main concern is that I have heard it's not great to make protein shakes part of a daily diet for the rest of my life.

Dr when you get back from Mexico?
Ok, who does the follow up when I get back to Cali? And what is the Dr doing? And what type of Dr should the appointment be with? Do I need to tell my General Practice Dr that I had this done??

Shakeology anyone?
Does anyone use Shake-O instead of another protein powder?? I am wondering if it's enough protein? 130 calories, 3 g fiber, 16 g protein, 14 g carbs.

Energy and happiness?
Thanks. I am, actually, a happy person overall but I am much, much happier and more satisfied with life as a thinner person. I am just tired of the up and down and up and down. I can honestly say I was the happiest I have ever been in my life in specific years and it had everything to do with my weight. Crazy? Maybe but it's true. I cannot wait to being this journey. Less than a month until my sleeve...

Energy and happiness?
I am sure this topic has been hashed out over and over and over again but this board is HUGE and I get overwhelmed going from subtopic to subtopic. lol After the surgery and losing weight...are you happier and do you have more energy? I am much happier when I am thinner. I am miserable and I make excuse after excuse as to why I can't go places with friends. I don't take pictures with my family, etc. I love to exercise and I don't even do that anymore because I am embarrassed to be seen in workout clothes.

Who do I tell? Is it ok to only tell a couple people?
Thanks everyone. I would LOVE to NOT tell a single person but my adult son and his family live with me and I have a 1 year old son...so, they are going to have to take care of my son for the days I am in Mexico. Also, I tell my mom EVERYTHING and she IS a secret keeper. I am glad I asked and I appreciate all the suggestions. I am going to tell a few people and that's it.

Who do I tell? Is it ok to only tell a couple people?
Well the 5 people that I will tell are not people who will tell. They are my lock and key secret keepers. How soon after the surgery did you all work out? Just curious...

Who do I tell? Is it ok to only tell a couple people?
I am at odds with myself about the whole "telling" people thing?! I have been up and down with my weight my entire adult life but this time, hopefully, it's going to happen pretty fast. I was only planning on telling 5 people. That's it. I also don't like to lie...so, when you don't tell everyone, what do you tell people who ask you how you did it?? I am 210 and 5'5" so I am guessing I will have loose skin so I feel like I can't say I have been working out and eating right.

Dealing with family/friends
I am also nervous to tell anyone but, most importantly, my 22 year old son. He's a Mama's boy and he is very protective of me. He also will not understand why I can't just lose the weight on my own like I have before (up and down for 20 years). Kanye West's Mother passed during a surgery (not in Mexico, mind you) and this is all he can think of when it comes to me having any surgery. I will have to tell him and was already planning to tell a few other people but this will be a difficult conversation. I almost want to wait until it's over...
