  1. Hey everyone, I'm nine days post op and feeling well, no pain from my surgery, I'm mobile and doing my Wiifit exercises 30 mins to an hour everyday with no soreness or stiffness, and I've lost a total of 24 lbs since my surgery on the 21st. I'm very pleased with my surgeon, Dr. Alehy Tohamy (hope that's spelled correctly) his nurses and staff at weight Loss and Metabolic Surgery, 8815 Germantown Ave. Phladelphia, PA 19118, you guys here at bariatricpal.com, and most importantly, my hubby for all of his love and support. I've been following my doctor and nutritionist's orders word for word, making sure to get in all of my fluids and Protein everyday as best as I can. I've never hit the 75 grams of protein per day however, since my surgery. Prior to surgery it was a piece of cake. I drank my shakes everyday, added protein to my Water and sipped on it as long as it took me to get it in, which sometimes ended up being a daylong event but nonetheless I got it all in. However, after surgery this has proven to be an arduous task. My taste buds have been altered because everything that i loved prior to surgery (sf popscicles, decaf coffee, unflavored whey protein, broth, etc.) now tastes horrible and really makes my stomach go flip flopping all over the place for hours, which I just found out after crying to my dr. that I am experiencng "dumping syndrome." I prayed yesterday after I tried mixing the Protein powder with some pureed banana, Lactaid milk, and ice cubes in my blender till it was shake consistency and drinking it that either I was allergic to some ingredient in the protein powder or my new stomach just simply does not like protein. Today I spoke to Dr. Tahomey and explained all the I've been experiencing in detail over the last four days and he explained to me that yes. this is the dreaded "dumping sydrome" that I've been trying to avoid, and yes, it is possible that my new stomach does not like to texture, taste, or consistency of the protein powder. I feel so relieved but this does nothing to help me with my need to get in enough protein to meet my quota for the day. Dr. Tahome suggested that I experiment with new ways of getting my protein in like adding it to plain yogurt with some fresh fruit that has been pureed, adding protein to my oatmeal in the morning. If anyone has any other suggestions I would love to hear them. This is only day nine for me and I'm sure I will be posting for more help as I enter stage three of my post surgery diet. Have a great day everyone!!!

  11. Hi I'm five days out and I have not experienced any dumping yet or for that matter, no major pain. I has my surgery on the 21st and came home in the 22nd. My doc and staff were quite impressed as I am. Each of us are different so no two people will recover the same but I pray that your surgery will go as smoothly as mine did. I'm praying for you, God bless.
  12. Good luck MommaD88!!! I'll eagerly await your report in April 2014 post op!!! God bless!!!
  13. I'm jealous that you didn't have to endure the two week pre op diet (not really) kudos to you on making a decision that's gonna change your life. Good luck with your surgery. Keep us posted.
  14. Hey BriWLS, yes I had the same soreness and weakness in my stomach which hurt when I went from lying to sitting or standing. As this is day five post op the pain has lessened greatly but I'm still careful not to try to stand or sit too quickly as it will cause unwanted pain. I pray your pain goes away completely soon. Have a blessed day.
  15. Hi MissTrish glad to hear that you're doing so well. I wish you continued success in your recovery. Keep us posted as the pounds and inches begin to drop off. Have a blessed day!!!
  16. You Go Girl, just imagine, in a few more weeks the bruising will be completely gone and that fabulous body will come out of hiding revealing a sexier, healthier you!!!
  17. Yes it's true that none of or journeys will be the same because we all hae such uniquely different body chemistries. I'm just getting back from having my drain tube removed and I've lost 13 lbs since I was weighed on Monday prior to surgery. I thank God that I have no pain at all I only feel soreness on the sites where the scopes were insertered. I'm not hungry, and I have very minimal energy. As soon as I got home I just about fell into my massage chair and sat there for two hours before I got enough energy to move again. I nasked my dr. about this and he said it's because I'm not getting enough protein in but he also said not to worry about it too much now just focus on staying hydrated and when I begin phase two of my diet I can add more protein in that way an my energy levels should increase rapidly. I pray for total relief from your gout and a road to recovery and healing that becomes smoother as the days go by, Goc bless.
  18. Hello, I'm four days post op and things are moving along just fine. I don't have any major pain I'm up and moving around my home all day effortlessly and u basically feel good. The problem in experiencing however, it I can't seem to drunk all of the fluids required by my dr and nutritionist. Sipping is very boring and time consuming if you have other things in your life that need to be done. I came home with the drain that nothing has come out of since I've been home so I get it removed today. I'm gonna ask my dr to bump me up to full liquids is I can start getting my Protein in that way and drink slowly instead if sipping. I pray all April gastric bypass surgeries went as well as can be expected and that everyone is recovering nicely with minimal complications. My prayers are with all who are scheduled this month and beyond God bless!!
  19. So glad you posted this. In only four days out and all smells make me nauseous especially food!!! This nausea only lasts for a few minutes but it's really bad. Glad to know its normal and will eventually go away. Thanks for posting this!!!
  20. I had my surgery Monday came home Tuesday. So far I'm pain free except for a little soreness at the I incision sites. I'm so glad I did this. I'm tolerating the liquids but not the jello. I'll wait a couple of days before I try then again. So far so good. I'm walking up and down my stairs and later this evening hubby and I are going to walk around the block to see how I feel afterwards. If I feel good then I'll start walking again, if not I'll stick to my Wiifit workout for a couple if weeks.
  21. So sorry to hear you're in such pain. Are you pushing your pump and if that's not working are you letting the nurse know? Please don't suffer in silence they have meds that will help you with pain management. I'm praying for you to feel better.
  22. My doctor just came in to see me and I'm going home tonight. I feel good, I'm able to sip 60 ml of liquids, and I've been walking around the floor all day. I'm going home with the drain but I don't have any staples my surgery was done laparoscopically. I feel great except for the usual soreness at the sites the scope was inserted. I pray that everyone else is doing well and that even if there are complications they won't dissuade you from your purpose. Oh yeah, I'm passing gas like crazy the walking really helped me to get things moving.
  23. Well I had my surgery yesterday and except for a little nausea and pain I feel really good. I just spoke with my surgeon and if all continues to go well I'll be discharged tomorrow. This has been a very exciting journey thus far and I'm eager to get home so I can exercise, eat well, and regain my health and wellness I pray that everyone else had a smooth transition from pre op to post op as I have thus far. Have a great day, God bless.
