  1. My diet right now is 4 shakes of 160 calories each. Even with Gatorade it's less than 1000 calories.
  2. Kathy, I have read here way before I became a member. I seriously have read for hours on end, and read everything I can. That's who I am, I research and investigate everything I can get my hands and eyes on. I went into my doctors' office with a page of questions, and some that he was very impressed that I had come up with. Again, not patting myself on the back, just who I am. That being said, I know why they do the pre-op, and I have tried a few shakes that I spent a fortune on ($50 a bag at the dr's office and have 4 of them sitting here), I gag on getting them down. So what I did a few times was instead of a shake I had chick peas (straight chick peas) again I'm not saying what I did was a good thing!! that's why I feel guilty and have doubts. I was determined until the liquid diet started, I was ready and every time someone said to me "are you sure you want to do this" I answered "YES" and every time someone said "do you know the risks" I said "there are risks in my driving or crossing the street". So no I don't think you lectured me too much, but I did do everything you said in your posts. I questioned my dr. the other day and said I'm struggling very bad and his answer was "do as you wish", he did mention that not all doctors do 2 weeks, but his office prefers it that way.
  3. Thanks @@Patsypatrice but what about the fact that I have cheated so many times? Do I postpone it?
  4. I'm so overwhelmed right now. I started this Journey in Feb and I have a date scheduled for the 23rd. I am supposed to be on my 2 week liquid diet and I keep cheating. Granted i'm not cheating with anything bad, I am eating Protein (egg white, chick peas) but none the less, I am not sure if I should tell my dr. i'm cheating or not. If I can't do this, how can I manage post-op??? I know I have to do this, I just know I can't do 2 weeks of no food and straight Protein shakes (which make me gag soo bad). What do I do??? I know some dr's do the 2 week some don't, I asked my dr. and he said they do recommend it but "do as you wish" which basically is telling me, your a grown up suck it up. I"m confused, sad, alone and just friggin disappointed.
  5. I have my dr's post op instructions and it clearly states that we will leave the hospital on a Pureed/soft solids diet. Every dr. is different.
  6. I'm just curious because I keep seeing mashed potatoes suggested by others. If were supposed to have Protein how can we be allowed to have mashed potatoes??
  7. I get it. I'm complaining about these shakes like a baby. But please understand I gag at the smell of them and I'm still hungry. I have cheated with protein and feel terrible. But I'm starving and feel lousy.
  8. My surgery is 23rd... I am doing or trying to do my 2 week pre-op diet (i'm having one egg a day in place of a shake cause they make me gag). I am all for the surgery...I sped through the process like a freight train (about 2 months)... I don't know if it's the feeling that I'm failing at the pre-op diet or because the date is so close by, but suddenly I'm so scared. What if I have a clot, what if I have internal bleeding.. What if I'm starving, what if I can't take care of my 2 kids... Do I really need this? I will never be able to indulge again... I'm so scared and it's making me panic with anxiety... Please tell me this is normal and that I'm not crazy. I suddenly feel that If I had will power I can do this on my own.....But we know that's not gonna happen, and def not at 40. I can't even stick to a damn pre-op diet, what makes me think I can stick to anything else. I'm so sad, scared and confused....
  9. Cheated 2x and I'm only on my second day of preop diet.. What does that say about me??? I feel so guilty.
  10. I see so many people for 4/23 including myself.. Anyone else feel like this is so surreal? I sometimes have to remind myself of my decision to do this. I am on my 2 week diet and my dr's office does it strict protein shake for 2 weeks, with other liquids but no food. I haven't been handling this so good, and cheated twice with just another protein (eggs, and piece of cheese). I got my period (i know TMI) and I think that is making it worse for me, the headaches are sooo bad, and I'm so moody. Let's keep this thread going so we can all follow each other's progress. Also I understand that if I"m struggling now, how will I handle after surgery questions.. But my logic is after surgery I won't be physically hungry. I mean I'm starving. Good luck to us all!!!
  11. We have the same date. I know what you are saying. The problem is now we are physically hungry where as after surgery we aren't. I can handle fighting a craving it's physical hunger that bothers me.
  12. I have cheated. I are just egg whites this morning. No toast nothing. I figured protein is protein right? This is sooo hard.
  13. Great. We have the same date. I started my 2 week diet today.
  14. Started my pre-op 2 week diet and man o man I'm struggling. First off the Bariatric Advantage banana is not so hot...ok but not great.. 2nd, I have the watery poops (yuckkkkkkkkkkk)... and it's horrible... Is this normal to have diarrhea like that, doesn't it cause dehydration? 3rd, I'm STARVINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.. I mean like really really hungry. Why do some doctors not do 2 weeks and some don't.. I have never been told I have a fatty liver and I have had surgeries before (last one in Oct to have my gallbladder out). I don't know how I will make it through the next 14 days.. Helpppppppppppppppppp
  15. I know all too well missing smoking as I smoked for 20 years and quit a few months ago. as far as smoking for u now the answer is never. It has been proven that smoking after the sleeve will cause you a bleeding ulcer. I would t recommend it and honestly if you have gone past 24 hours of not smoking your already there. Fight the craving and do t smoke.
  16. I was wondering about this, as I host Easter here every year and this year it's 3 days before my surgery. Now I don't want to cancel it because I enjoy it, but I am wondering if I can eat anything at all that day? What if I JUST eat Protein?
  17. Don't back out. What you are feeling is completely normal. You will be fine. And as far as going to Mexico. So many people on here have gone to Mexico as well. They have had rave reviews. Should also post on the pre-op site where u will see how nervous any of us are and how were all in the same boat. I am a believer that what will he will be. If something is meant to happen it will happen no matter where u r. Stuck to your decision and stop saying what if and say WHEN I LOOSE THE WEIGHT. good luck.
  18. Wishing you a speedy and painless recovery. You got this.
  19. Have a second appt with my surgeon on thurs to get my date. The closer I get the more I think of certain things. Like if I'm really hot I can't chug down a cold bottle of water, or what if I want fruit? I know these things sound silly but I'm having a funeral over every aspect. Is this normal? I'm scared and yet I want this so bad.
  20. These were my exact requirements as well and I also need an endoscopy
  21. As far as I know all surgeons require these clearances. It's to insure your in optimum health for surgery.
  22. Yes you can. However most times the dr'a office gets all that information before you go. Call the dr office and find out. If they don't know then call your insurance.
  23. Every insurance requirement is different. Find out what your insurance requires. Don't be nervous about endoscopy because your only under for about 15 min. Good luck
