    Stall and side pain

Just discharged. Apparently a permanent stitch was poking and scratching my insides. Another five holes, but otherwise just happy not to be in pain anymore!

    Stall and side pain

I've had a nightmare. My stabbing pain has developed into unbearable steady pain in the past 2 days. I spent the drive to the hospital screaming as if I was giving birth. Local hospital couldn't so anything (after 7 hours) so sent to my surgeons local hospital. Being admitted soon (I hope) and will see surgeon. He says he expects it is a kinked or twisted bowel. Will update when I know more.

    Stall and side pain

I haven't noticed how I've been sleeping. I'll try to pay attention tonight though I do tend to move around in my sleep a lot!

    Stall and side pain

I've been having the exact same. I'm now 6 weeks post op and had a stall from weeks 3 to 5. I also had pain on my left side. It was usually sudden and like a stabbing pain. Had blood tests, X-ray and ct scan with my diagnosis. Some dats better than others or maybe getting used to it? I've heard done people say gas/constipation or scar tissue. Good luck!
  6. Today is my six week anniversary. Including my liver diet, I have now lost 52 pounds. I didn't shift much at all between weeks 2 and 5, but last week I started to shift again. Had my first gym session today. Was good to have the energy and ability to maintain 30 mins of cardio. Started to drink protein shakes (impact whey) about two weeks ago because I was finding it hard to get the minimum 60g a day. Good for me because low calorie for the huge boost of protein. Still finding it difficult to get all my liquids in. Any tips?
  7. I'm 3.5 weeks post op. I are some chicken today and I don't think I chewed well enough because u instantly felt awful. I was sick (first time since surgery) and there was a little bright red blood at the end of the sickness. I called my surgeon who said to go to a and e if it gets worse. Has anyone else experienced anything similar? I'm really freaked out!

    Blood in sick

It was a bit more than a spot. Maybe a teaspoon. Enough to give me a good fright. It only happened the once. I had some dinner and it went down okay. Very nervous to eat. May go back to liquids for a few days.
  9. I've been doing well. Went to the doctor today because I was worrying about he ongoing pain in my side. They don't seem so worried and gave me a few new things to try. tmi?! Lol
  10. Good luck. Will be thinking about you. Message when you are well enough! X
  11. I had a 2 week liquid diet before purée. Each surgeon is different. You may want to do done prep work before your surgery. I got sick of the store bought soup after a week. I'm 32! Wish I had the surgery at 26.
  12. More than happy to help at any time! Just to reassure you, I would do it again!! Can't wait to see the results! Purée stage is okay. Much better than liquid. Struggled with some foods, but the real food was welcome
  13. I didn't take anything for pain when I got home. I was fine! I had effervescent paracetamol (gross) and codeine (furry teeth feeling and can back you up). I just walked. I had a little pain in my side but took laxatives and seems to have worked. I haven't added protein powder to anything. On the liquid, I had slimfast, strained soup, buildup soup made with milk and milk and nesquick. I had some great ladies that I talked to at the support group at my hospital that helped me greatly. Happy to return the favour!
  14. I'm Cristin. I should specify that I'm in the south east. Essex to be exact! ATM I'm in the purée stage. Mince meat didn't work well for me but chicken is great. I blitz the chicken up with taco seasoning or BBQ sauce with a little cheese. Refried beans. Ricotta. Slimfast on occasion. Milk and nesquick. Eggs. That's about it. This website is a great resource for ideas, but we can't get a lot of the products here. I get about 63g protein a day and between 650 and 750 calories a day. Still struggling with liquids. Trying to up to 2 litres starting today. Any worries/concerns?
  15. I'm down south as well. I went privately (wasn't willing to wait for the nhs process) and my surgeon was Mr Agrawal. He was really amazing. I just had a dress delivered from asos and thrilled that the size 22 fit perfect! (Down from 26)
  16. I'm doing really well. I didn't have to do a liquid diet but I had a strict liver diet for four weeks beige surgery. I hit a low in day four, but it got easier because you knew the end was in sight. I ended up loosing 2.5 stone so it was worth it! I'm feeling great. Spend 3 nights in hospital and didn't take any pain kills when I got home. Still a little tired but hoping that will pass in the next few days. Have been taking it easy and haven't walked as much as I should. Hardest part now is making sure I get all my liquids in. I feel like I'm always drinking. Who is your surgeon?
  17. Hi! I live in the UK and had my surgery almost 3 weeks ago now. This is a great resource but mainly US and Canada. How are you feeling about the process?

    Does anyone eat pizza?

  19. I had the implant put in a few days before my surgery. It feels strange in my arm but hasn't caused any issues. Will be nice bit to have to think about it for three years!!
  20. I felt (and still feel) exactly the same way. There was huge excitement before the surgery because of the imminent weight loss but once I had surgery (April 5) I felt like there was no way that I would drop weight and that I was meant to be big all my life. I think it's our brains playing tricks on us...and us being hard in ourselves and not letting us enjoy the reality that we WILL lose and WILL be successful. I've lost 30 pre op and 10 in 10 days after surgery. Even though I had this loss, I'm still convinced its not going anywhere. Strange feeling hon, but I'm with you 100%.

    Looking for a mentor!

I would be happy to chat and give support as I was given before my surgery. I am one week post op and starting to feel human again
  23. I came home from hospital this morning and had my first bowel movement shortly after I arrived home.... and it hasn't stopped. I've has loose stool 4-5 times today. I heard a it about constipation. Anyone else experience this?

    April 2014 pre-op group

Hope you are feeling better soon. I gurgled after every sip but I believe that is the gas trying to escape. My nurse told me to burp as often as possible. My gas pain only lasted a few days. My tummy/throat still make ridiculous sounds when I drink. I only partially vomited because I was gagging on mucus. Vomiting after surgery is common though.
  25. Exceptionally helpful. Thank you very much. Never tmi after this surgery.
