I don't want what the "other" Dr's are doing, just the word from the manufacturer. Anyone know how to obatin this info??? Thanks in advance.

    If I couldn't lose before???

Let me tell you something. Now that my band is tight, I realize what it means. this is great. You can binge, you can't physically do it. You eat your little teeny meal, you stay full for hours. My God, this is exactly what you need. You WANT to eat all that stuff, but you can't. You change because you have to. The you realize that food doesn't control your life anymore and you move on to something more constructive. After a while you forget about the food, because you no longer focus all your energy on eating. You move on, and I'll tell you, it is wonderful. It took me 6 months and 5 fills to get tight. WOW, ehat a difference. It is all worth it. Hang in there. Food will no longer rule your life.

    Countdown to Onederland!

I have visited for 3 days a couple of weeks ago. After I got home, I decided I wanted to move there. (exactly 200 this morning) So I have packed my bags, just waiting for the moving van. I have a lot of junk in the trunk that I would like to unload ASAP.

    average fill

Bebers, I started on Nutrisystem a year ago, that was my highest weight. I was 220 at surgery, so I've lost 21 since surgery. Cyndi, I got fill number two on 1/14. I asked for a total of 6. He looked at me over his glasses and said don't be a hero. So we played around with the numbers a little, he put in the 6 MY GOD The Water backed up, he totally openend it and I felt it all go down...swoosh...I said MAN that was fun! So I ended up with 5.5. I am just now starting to eat solids, tried to eat a 3 oz bag of tuna today, OMG I felt the tightness in the chest, and the pain, I had to stop. Couldn't do it, I figure I better work up to it slowly, but I think I have some great restriction as I am not hungry at all. Did you get your fill?. Any way, the thread is about how many cc's do they put in your fill. I think it's really based on how your hunger is and how your weight gain/loss is. I would rather move it up slowly than to feel like I did with 6cc in there. That was brutal.

    November Nymphs Valentine Day's Challenge

Hey Shortgal, I had my 2nd fill yesterday, and BOY, took off more overnight than I had in 5 weeks!!! They were all rejoicing at a 2 pound weight loss in 5 weeks, I was pissed. I told them, That's $7500 a pound!!! Anyway, I'M IN ONEDERLAND FINALLY. That was my Christmas goal. And Dr liked my new BMI of under 35...I think I'm just obese now. I told him I wanted to be overweight for my birthday in March. The fill did wonders for me. One more day of fluids, then 2 of mushies and we both should be on our way. We might make the challenge after all. I put 10 which I thought was puching it, but I knew the fill would help.
  8. I was given 1gram of Ancef in the IV. That's it.

    Caffeine?

I am a MAJOR coffee addict. It is my only vice, I don't drink, smoke, and now I don't do chocolate anymore. It's the only thing I have left. I used to drink a pot a day, I tapered off before surgery. I was told to leave it off for at least 3 days, due to dehydration. Once you are getting enough fluids and are adequately hydrated, they say it is ok. Now I drink 1 maybe 2 cups and I am done. I threw my old pot away and got a Hamilton Beach hot beverage station (something like that) and brew one cup at a time. I seem to be satisfied with that.

    Big decision to make....Help!!

Hell yeah I would do it...The proctor won't let him do anything stupid. Reminds me of when I was married to husband #1, the dentist. When he was in dental school, I let him do everything I needed, crowns, fillings, onlays, etc, at the clinic in the dental school. Every step of the way he had to get the instructor over to check it. That was in 1984 and I still have every one of the things in my teeth. My current dentist always comments on how nice these things are! The only thing to think about is, what is going to happen when it is time for a fill? Will he be able to do it without puncturing the tubing? I was the first APS band that my surgeon did. (He had done about 100 of the 4cc bands) I have had NO problems. I think they are overly cautious on the first, and strive to get it right. It may take longer, but I think it would be fantastic to have that opportunity.

    Countdown to Onederland!

Karen...you did it, you did it, you did it... Someone please rescue me...I have been hovering at 202 for 3 weeks. Over Christmas I changed the eating plan to protein, vegg, sweets, but hey, a small lapse. I have been on track for over a week and nothing. I was very inspired by TracyinKS's picture of the scale reading 199.4. I take my camera to the scale with me every morning. I even have yellow post-it-notes with numbers on them on my bathroom mirror. I have to look around them to fix my hair. I have all the numbers ready, I wonder when I will be able to change them!

    Going for another fill

Stacy: how is the 6.8 doing for you??
  16. HA!!! We have been married almost 10 years and I would never tell him my weight. I was a muscular 160 on wedding day. Well, muscle flabbed out and I gained 100 pounds. He kept asking me and I wouldn't tell him. I just told him about a month ago. He doesn't make fun of me or anything. He doesn't really mention it at all...now that I am grtting close to Onederland, we are both very excited...so ladies, it's not that bad if you tell him.

    APS Band FILL protocol

Chris: Thank you. I already have the APS. I requested it and told him that's the only band I wanted. He was still using up the old bands, but he ordered one in for me, so I am the only one he has right now. Before my first fill he went to get the protocol, to review it, looks like he is following the manufacturer's suggestions exactly. I have my second fill Monday, I think he said it was 1cc the second time, but I can't remember. I have searched the Inamed/Allergen web site nand cannot find any info out there. I know it is out there somewhere... MollyBrown: Thanks. My first was 4cc in the small, so 5cc in the large sounds about right. The 4cc did nothing for me at first. It's hard to tell because of the liquids. But at exactly 10 days I felt it kick in... then it waned a couple weeks later. So there it is...
  18. Shoegirlia----People have died from LB Surgery?? Have you seen this in the literature? My Dr told me that not one person has died from this....perhaps that's just in his experience. I haven't come across any literature with any death so far.

    Sick since 1st fill

After a fill I am required to have clear liquids for 2 days, then full liquids for 2 days. Since you are on day 4 now, I waould say if you can't eat mushy by tomorrow, you may be too tight.

    Oatmeal Question

Pre-banding I hated oatmeal. Now, I have found the low sugar Quaker packets. I use 1/2 packet with 1/3 cup skim milk, and I make it a little runny. That's my breakfast every morning and I actually like it.
  21. Mine was 2 weeks clear fluids, 2 weeks full fluids, then mushy starting with week 5.

    waking up after surgery

Oh, I remember that day! There was a really short male nurse in recovery waking me up, he was gently shaking me and calling my name. Wake up wake up. I remember saying oh, it hurts..and he said, I have to get you to the room first, then the nurse will take care of that. I mean within a couple of minutes he had me there, and the nurse was right on it. All I had was IV...no tubes..and she said she had the orders for pain meds and in they went. They were great about getting me out of pain. BUT, she immediately made me get up and start walkimg around. They followed me with a wheelchair, and a good thing they did because I started feeling dizzy and started dry heaving. They plopped me into the wheelchair and back to bed, my God it was hard getting into the bed. She immediately shot some zofran into the IV and I slept for 45 minutes. I woke up fine...walked around no problem. Was released a couple hours later. I remember the Dr telling me ahead of time I could stay the night if I wanted too, but I would have to pay extra for that. My gosh, I paid the hospital $8,800 wasn't that enough?? Anyway, waking up, yeah it hurt, no mack truck feeling but it felt like I just had surgery. The whole process was very quick and they were very attentive..
  24. I completely agree with Cindi's answers. I have never PB'd. I follow the rules, however I do tend to overeat. It feels really bad when I do that, so I am learning. I could have NEVER stopped myself before. It DOES help with my hunger, and I am not even restricted yet. It makes you think about what you are putting in your mouth. It makes you pay attention when you are eating. It really makes you aware, which I never was before. I used to sit in front of TV with a bag of oreo's or chips, and I wasn't aware of eating them until they were all gone...I don't do that anymore. It really does help, and with restriction I'm sure it will be fantastic. The only real mental problem I have at this point is throwing out perfectly good food. I still tend to cook too much of it, and can't seem to eat it all before it goes bad. The dog usually gets it. You may want to practice cooking smaller amounts now...wish I had done that. But, yes, I would have done it all again. I am glad that I waited, because I have the new APS band and I am very happy about that.
