22 here. Instagram?
I found this website today while browsing at work, it was really detailed on what you can expect. I'm still nervous but it will help going in with a little knowledge on what is about to go down lol. BUT, literally everyone I've asked has said the psych evaluation is a breeze! http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3096263/

Reflux
This is another thing I'm worried about as well...I deal with acid reflux/heartburn on a daily basis and sometimes it's even hard to control with meds. Hoping surgery makes it better and not worse!

Helpful info about Pre Op Psych Eval.
I posted yesterday about how I was concerned about my psych evaluation I will be having next week. I'm not concerned that I'm crazy (although it's debatable sometimes lol) it just makes me nervous I will say or do something wrong. I think I was more nervous about not knowing what to expect since I've never had a psych evaluation before. Anyways, upon doing some research I found a detailed website about what to sort of expect and wanted to share it so anyone else nervous about their psych eval could read it. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3096263/

22 here. Instagram?
I'm also on IG but I don't post very many "selfies" lol...actually hardly any at all. One of my goals from having surgery is to be more comfortable in my own skin. I want to be able to take pictures with my son and not be uncomfortable! I plan to make a separate IG account when I start my pre op diet to track my weight loss in pictures...but until then anyone is welcome to follow me on my regular IG account, find me under morganowens87!

Hey Beth, I'm pretty much in your boat. I'm 26, trying to get the sleeve, and I have my psych evaluation next week. You made a good decision to join the boards...I haven't been on here long and I've already met some awesome people and gained more knowledge! Just wanted to tell you good luck...I'll add you as a friend on here if thats ok!

5 days post op
Glad everything went smoothly...I love hearing from people who are only a few days post op to kind of get a feel for how they are feeling and what to expect. Wishing you much success on your journey..and a quick recovery!

Nervous about Psych Evaluation
I see you are 5 days POST op...I love asking people how they feel right after surgery. I want to prepare myself for the worse and hopefully end up surprised when it isn't so bad as I thought haha. So what's the verdict? How did you feel, and how do you feel now? Be honest

Nervous about Psych Evaluation
Most of you probably don't remember my previous posts, but I'm in the beginning stages of getting the gastric sleeve done..but things are moving very quickly since I'm self pay and we don't have to deal with insurance. Next week is my psych evalutation and even though I know I'm not mental or crazy (it's debatable sometimes though LOL) I'm nervous. When I called to set up the appt they said to expect to be there for 2 hours...are we going through my childhood or something too?!? lol. Why does it take 2 hours? I'm just afraid during that I'll say something wrong and she won't approve me for surgery. Or I'm afraid she will say I'm not ready for surgery. I guess it just makes me nervous that my fate for surgery is in her hands. I'm hoping I don't stumble my words and can answer all of her questions. After that I take my education class on the 26th and then I have one more appt with the surgeon and we will schedule my surgery date at that appt....EEEK! Getting closer!

I've been to all those towns including Henderson, had family there.

Calling all Texans :)
I go there frequently...I was almost going to have surgery done there since that's where my mom had hers, but decided to do it in my hometown instead.

How much of your stomach was removed?
I know it is different for all doctors, some remove 70% and some remove all the way up to 90%...just curious how much your Dr will/has removed? I would ask what bougie size was used but I know nothing about those lol

Woohoooo! I have a date!
Congratulations on getting a date!! That's what I'm looking forward to the most...a date!! Since I'm self pay and don't have to deal with insurance I'm hoping my process doesn't take long!

Funding falling through- so depressed
I just wanted to tell you I'm sorry you are going through this. My funding fell through several times before it finally came through. It really stinks when you make the decision to do this life changing wonderful surgery and then not have the funds. Hang in there, I hope things fall into place for you soon!

Good news, and seminar tonight!
I posted my story about a week ago and I just wanted to give a quick update! I am self-pay, with a little help from a family member. I got word yesterday they will for sure be helping me, so I will 100% be getting the surgery. I spent most of yesterday crying and thanking God. I feel so blessed to be able to do this for myself, I haven't felt this happy and blessed since my son was born. I go to the seminar tonight, then my first dr appt...followed my the nurtritionist and psych evaluation and then I will be all ready to for my surgery date! Woohoo!!

New here, with a few questions!
I am 8 days post op for the sleeve. I also had the lapband. Yes. You have to be careful about how much water you drink before meals and should not drink with meals. I was drinking 4-6 liters of water before my surgery. I had water with me everywhere I went. I was more prepared for the transition since I had had band surgery before. It's not too rough. I am so focused on my meals that water isn't even a thought. But throughout the rest of the day I am constantly sipping. I can't take huge gulps like I used to. But already 8 days out I am getting more than the minimum 64 ounces required. I know you are less likely to have loose skin if you are working out with weights. Weights are scary. But you can do it. I just used Christmas money to hire a personal trainer. I still crush my pills. It's a preference thing. I don't mind them crushed and I know they're not going to come back up or get stuck. But my surgeons office says any pill larger than your pinky finger's nail bed should be cut in half. I was encourage to not take the stairs unless I needed to. But my room is also upstairs. I slept in our recliner downstairs the first night simply because I got discharged late and was super tired. Good luck with your surgery. Do you have it scheduled yet? Thanks for the reply! I'm in the very beginning stages. I go to a seminar on Tuesday, then schedule my appt with the surgeon. He may or may not make me see a nutritionist and a psychologist, I'm cash pay so I don't know if that will matter. He will schedule me with a 4 hour education class then my surgery will be scheduled! I'm hoping within the next few months!

Does your spouse know how much you weigh?
I was actually thinking about this earlier and wondering if as many women are as modest with their husbands as I am, well when it comes to weight at least! I've been with my husband for 10 years, married for 5. He has never seen my weight and I've always made him turn his head if he was at a dr appt with me. Everyone I have told thinks it's crazy, but my husband has also never seen me naked before. I'm so uncomfortable in my own body, and definitely not comfortable exposing it to him. Another reason I'm getting WLS, to he comfortable and confident in my own skin for the first time in my life!

New here, with a few questions!
Thank you so much for your replies, I'm new here and somehow posted this twice without knowing it. I stumbled across it from my app on my iPhone but didn't see it from my computer. Just now figuring all this out. Thanks again for your replies...I'm excited to get this journey started!
