I would like to hear answers and advice on this too.

Scars are red and itchy
I didn't put anything on them. Just itched around them. Some days were worse than others but really not that bad.

Good savory liquids
I also needed something not sweet at that stage, Progresso has a light French onion soup. I would strain out the onions and then add my unflavored GENEPRO Protein powder to it. So yummy and savory!!!!!

Eating vs. Nibbling
I was told 2 shakes and one small meal a day. I will be 7 weeks post op tomorrow and this is what I have been doing since my 2 1/2 week check up. I go back to my doc's office on Dec 30th I will see then what they recommend. I was told no snacking, I haven't been snacking, but once in awhile after a morning workout I will have a mozzarella babybel cheese wheel. This has actually been working out very well for me and I don't find myself hungry. I usually leave my small meal to eat at dinner with my family. I have been losing pretty steadily so far and hope it continues!!!

Scars are red and itchy
This!! Mine itched like crazy!!! My belly button incision took the longest to heal. My other four are so tiny and look really good now. Still itch once in awhile but nothing like the in the beginning!!

How do u get ur protein?
I will be 7 weeks post op tomorrow. This is my daily routine....... Breakfast: 32 or 24oz of decaf tea (32oz on my days off, 24oz on workdays) with GENEPRO unflavored Protein mixed in, Tbsp fat free creamer, and two tsp splenda. 31grams Lunch: RTD Premiere Protein shake (I alternate between the vanilla and chocolate) 30grams Dinner: This is where it varies on what I eat, but I usually get between 15-20grams depending on what I eat. So my total protein for the day varies between 72-80grams daily. My surgeon has me on two shakes and one small meal daily only. I thought this would be hard to do, but it really isn't because I really don't feel hungry. That I like. I am gonna work this tool as much as I can in the beginning because I know it will get harder as the months go on. Good luck on your journey!!!

Frustrated
Wow.....It is so sad to see posts like this, I feel bad for you guys. There is no excuse for you leaving your docs office and feeling this way. My surgeon is nice enough, but straight to the point. My husband keeps reminding me surgeons cut, that is their job. I am a type of patient that likes to be coddled. (yes I am a big baby LOL) So I love the job my surgeon did on me, but he is not the coddling type. Now Debbie the P.A. in the office who I will be seeing from now on I LOVE! I have had to call a few times with questions and I never feel rushed or brushed off. I saw my surgeon at my 2 1/2 week check up everything went fine he was happy with my progress but wanted to keep me on two shakes a day and one small meal. So that is what I have been doing. He didn't want me tracking calories (but I do) but did want me tracking Protein, Water and my sugars. He did write up a plan for me for where should be, but I am trying to look at that as goals and not written in stone. I was at 270.7 this morning and my "goal" to be at for my Dec 30th appt is 260. I am pretty sure I will get close (I have been losing pretty steadily) but if I don't I am overly THRILLED my progress so far!!! Hang in there everyone. I know we are all doing the best we can and losing is losing no matter how much or how fast!!!

Tell me about your surgery timeline pls
My journey started in Jan 2014 with a referral from my general surgeon (who was going to take care of my ventral hernia) to the bariatric doctor. Went to a seminar late Jan 2014. Found out I had to do a doc supervised 6 month diet. Started seeing my regular doc monthly in Feb 2014. I also had to see the NUT, do a psych eval and a swallow test (can't remember the name, it was the less evasive of the two). Then in May 2014 I got a letter from my insurance saying that they weren't going to be in contract with the hospital my surgeon worked out of. I was told they were in negotiations but wasn't guaranteed they would get it figured out. Then at the very beginning of August 2014 the contract was settled and I continued on with my psych eval it was the only thing left to do. I had continued to see my general doc for my 6 month diet just in case. I was able to get an apt for middle of September for my psych evaluation. Turned everything in and was approved in less than two weeks. My surgery was scheduled for Nov 3rd. Had everything set, time off of work, hubby off work, mom flying in and then the surgeons office called and my date was switched to Oct 27th. We were able to get everything relined up Thank God. And here I am almost 7 weeks post op (on this coming Monday 12/15). Time sure has flown!!

Pre-op Diet: How much/steadily to lose?
Great job with getting your weight off before surgery. Try not to fret about the scale not moving for two days, I know easier said than done. I only had to do a one week post op diet and it included two Protein shakes a day and one small meal of 3oz of protein, a small salad and piece of fruit daily. I lost 9lbs.

Does anyone else get as much joy as I do when I update my ticker?

Going Home Post-Surgery: What to expect
My surgery was scheduled for 2:15pm and was home the next day by dinner time. I was glad to stay one night, because I stayed overnight there was no waiting period for my disability to kick in!! If I had gone home the same day I would have had to wait 14 days.

SURGERY WENT WAY BETTER THAN I ANTICIPATED 12/10/14 ☺️
So glad to hear things went well for you!! I had a similar time of it. I am almost 7 weeks post op and nothing about my recovery went the way I thought it would. And for that I am extremely grateful. I used to no pain meds except for in the hospital. Was able to sleep on my side first night in hospital. Yeah!! I wish you continued success in your journey!!!

My lunch bag is a sad place right now
HaHa.....It's just the one tervis tumbler I use. It is really cute. The goldfish design that is on it looks like real goldfish.

My lunch bag is a sad place right now
Your lunch bag sounds more interesting than mine. LOL I work part time so when I do work and have to bring a lunch my lunchbag (which is very cute and new) contains three freezie ice packs, one tervis tumbler with gold fish on it and one premiere Protein shake in either vanilla or chocolate.

What are your favorite things to wear now that the weight is gone?
I am only down 40lbs but I am loving my skinny jeans and my boots. My daughter picked them out for me. I can't imagine what I will get into once I am closer to goal

Peanut butter, can anyone recommend a good brand?
Skippy Peanut Butter was all we ate in this house. Loved it straight out the jar. I am very picky about my food. PB2 is really pretty good. We use it mostly in our shakes, but I did try a nibble the one day my husband mixed it with some Water. Tasted pretty good!!

Great support meeting last night!
I just had to come on here and share how happy I was when I left my monthly support meeting last night. They have them every first Tuesday of the month. This month we had three people come and talk with us about their journey and experiences with the sleeve surgery. It was three men in three different phases of their journey. It was so nice that I was able to take something away from each speaker. I also choked back tears a few times, but they were good tears. Each one hit on something that pertained to me in one way or another, but the main thing I took away and I going to try and hold on to is what the one gentleman said is to....."Take pride in yourself, be proud of you!" This really hit home and I know he saw that. The last guy that talked noticed it too and hit on it also. I am sure like so many others while I was overweight I just wanted to be covered up neatly and blend in. Never liked to stand out, I was definitely not one of those overweight women who could dress how they want and rock it. Which is weird because I am not shy at all. LOL Well last night my family went out to dinner for the first time since my surgery. My daughter had talked me into buying two pair of jeans (I never wear jeans, only capris because I am only 5'3" and I could never find comfortable jeans that fit, thank goodness I live in AZ and could get away with that), She said they looked so good on me, but of course could I believe her, no. My husband really liked them on, could I believe that, nope. I wore a pair to work and got compliments, again nope they are just being nice. So last night when we headed out I had on three things I have not worn in over 15yrs, a pair of skinny jeans (jeggings actually and they are soooo comfy) tall black boots, a black top and cute scarf. Now I felt good but did I believe I should be wearing that, nope!! I said maybe I should wait till I lose 20-30 more lbs?? But I wore it. Out to dinner and then onto my meeting, After hearing the guys speak I walked out of the meeting with my head held high and smiling. I felt good and I BELIEVED I looked good!! One of the speakers actually said to me in front of the whole room, that I was beautiful and looked good and I should not question myself so much. That was one time I almost cried with tears of joy. Sorry this is so long but I have been pretty positive since about week 2 post op that I can do this and I will do this, but last night just pushed me over the edge and I am super positive I got this!! Support is a great thing and it saddens me when I see so many that don't have it. I am very lucky with my family and friends and now my monthly support group. I am attaching a pic of me from last night (hopefully it works never attached a pic before) that my daughter took so I could send to my mom who is in NY. I am not posting it for kudos but I am posting it because before last night I would have NEVER put myself out there. You know how you pick apart pics of yourself? I am going to try and not do that anymore. I only 6 1/2 weeks post op, down 40lbs but I feel good!!!! Here's to anyone struggling, waiting for surgery or doing good with the process.......TAKE PRIDE IN YOURSELF, YOU MATTER AND YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

What's the deal with CAFFEINE ?!
I switched to decaf tea as soon as I got my surgery date. it wasn't to bad and I didn't find I went thru withdrawl or anything. I never drank coffee but would be lost without my tea. On my days off I drink 32oz of decaf black tea with unflavored Protein in it with a some splenda and 2 tbsp. creamer. On the days I work I only do 24oz. I brew one decaf black tea k cup thru my kuerig twice. I also drink 24oz of decaf tea at night with my miralax in it. (that has been a lifesaver) I also drink plain Water to make up my 64-80oz of liquid I get in everyday. I am in AZ and when it was hotter out it was easier to drink more water but with it being cooler in the mornings and evenings the hot tea just goes down easier and is way more enjoyable for me. Oh and one other super positive with drinking hot tea for me is it helps my Vitamin go down so much better than just water. I have been able to swallow them since the doc put me on them but I'm not going to lie they are pretty big!!

Water Bottle + Other Recommendations?
I use my Tervis cups all the time. LOVE THEM!! I wanted a bigger one but 24oz is all I could find. I ended up finding double walled 32oz cup at Target called Bubba (that is the actual name of the cup) LOL With my Tervis cups I have both lids the hot coffee sip style and the flatter one that works with a straw. I never was told not to use a straw and had no problems from day one. (but like everything else you should follow your docs orders) I cannot stand using Water bottles that sweat. I have two camelback type ones too that are 32oz but once you put some ice in them they sweat and make a mess. That is why I love the Tervis brand. You will figure out what works best for you. In the beginning it seemed like all my hubby was doing was washing water bottles. LOL We had so many different ones I wasn't sure which ones I liked the best. But now that I have a routine we are good and I only have like four that I use on a regular basis. Good Luck with your surgery and I hope that everything goes smoothly for you!!
