  1. I was on a similar diet but only for one week. I used the unjury vanilla and chocolate splendor, I added PB2 to the chocolate one (yum!) and I used Premiere Protein vanilla and chocolate cut with 4oz of skim milk. Pre op they seemed to thick and sweet and even a few weeks post op I was cutting them with skim milk. Now I can drink them no problem with nothing added. I had marinated some chicken breasts in light Italian dressing and grilled them up and then cut them into 3oz servings to have for my dinner with a salad. I could also have a piece of fruit if I wanted so some nights when I was hungry I had an apple. So my pre op diet was not bad at all. I lost 9lbs so I was happy!! Good luck on your journey!!!
  2. That is awesome and I hear your excitement in your post!!!!! My surgery was on 10/27 and I have been exited about the same things!! My first pair of skinny jeans in a size 20 (I was wearing a 28) and I got a pair of knee high boots too!! I keep telling myself I feel so good already about myself how will I feel in 4 more months?? Do you feel this way too??
  3. This is good info to know!! Thanks for sharing and here's to a speedy recovery and GREAT results!!!
  4. It's funny that when I started this journey back in Feb of this year, I wasn't sure if I could make the changes necessary to succeed. My husband and daughter have attended every meeting and doctor appointment they could because they wanted to understand what I was going to have to do. I had to do a 6 month doc supervised diet, required by my insurance and let me tell you it was the best thing for me. I needed that time to wrap my head around how things would change and figure out why I was eating the way I was. I am 9 weeks post op as of today and my husband and daughter have been very supportive. I haven't removed all so called bad food from the house but it has been cut down and surprisingly they don't miss it. It's been somewhat easy on me because I haven't had any issues with being around people eating food that I cannot have. Grant it there are times that smells do get the better of me, but I haven't been tempted to put that food in my mouth. I am trying to get the most bang for my buck out of the sleeve during the first 6 months. LOL They both have been going to the gym with me and working out with me, that is soooo helpful especially on days where I am like no I don't feel like it. They have even been drinking shakes for Breakfast or lunch too. Neither one of them have a weight problem but it never hurts to try to be more healthy. I really think you need to talk to your husband about this, really talk. He needs to understand completely what you will be going thru. My daughter was a little scared at first but once she went to the meetings and pre op stuff it eased her mind. The more informed you both are the better it will be. For me things are probably better now, because I am happier, I feel better and that translates into all aspects of your life. I started at 314lbs, so I am right there with you weigh wise. it's not easy but it is what you make it. The sleeve is a great tool but you have to use it properly to have it work for you ! Good luck in what ever you decide, but seriously talk with your hubby try to get him to understand the changes that are going to happen for you.
  5. I have been using since after surgery. I use it every morning. I put a scoop in my 32oz of decaf tea for my Breakfast. I get in my Protein and my liquid at the same time. I feel great, have energy and have been losing consistently since surgery, My doc has me doing two shakes and one small meal. I do my protein tea in the morning, a RTD premiere Protein shake for lunch and the I eat my protein for dinner with my family. My doc also has me doing no Snacks and so far I'm not hungry between meals (maybe cause I am drinking my water). It mixes so nicely into everything. I love it!!!!
  6. Sounds like you had a great time. Keep up the good work!!!
  7. I would go buy two more cases during the sale and return them with your original receipt. They will be unopened and costco takes back everything. $10 bucks is $10 bucks!! LOL
  8. I take Bariatric Advantage, but not the chewable I use the gel caps. They are rather large but I can swallow them and have been able to since two weeks out. I did find thru trial and error that I have to take them after Breakfast and after lunch. I was at first taking them after breakfast and dinner but I found I was waking up at night "tasting" the Vitamin. Yuck!! But now that I take them after breakfast and lunch no problems at night.
  9. That is absolutely wonderful to hear. I can only imagine how you feel, even though I think I can tell just from reading your post. We went to Universal Studios in FL two years ago and I only went on three rides I think it was. I know how you felt last year first hand. We are heading to Disney in March I will be 4 1/2 months post op and I cannot wait to go. I told my husband and daughter this time I can choose what rides I want to go on instead of just the ones I fit in. Congratulations again and enjoy the rest of your trip!!!! WOO HOO!!!
  10. Just wanted to let anyone know pre op or post op that costco has $5 off their cases of Premiere Protein from 12/30-1/25. There is a two case limit, but you can always go a few times. I know me and my hubby are gong to get some, I use these for lunch almost everyday!!!
  11. Good Luck tomorrow!! It's hard not to be nervous, But you will do great!! All I took with me was my phone and some real good lip balm. That's it!! I really needed the lip balm and was so thankful I had it. I used an extra gown to throw over my shoulders like a robe when I did my walking, which I very soon after being in my room and every couple hours after that. Grant it the first few times I didn't go to far but by the third time I was all the way around the floor. I also didn't need slippers or anything because the hospital puts on slipper socks, green, yellow or red depending on how you are allowed to get out of bed. I had green so I was good to go, and they have non slip on the bottom. I am a big baby on pain so I was hitting my pain button every time it turned green. I really don't remember any pain, but just a little discomfort getting up and down out of bed. I slept on my side on that first night too. Hubby said it was because I was so drugged up. LOL I came home by dinner time the next day and never touched any of my pain meds at home. I couldn't believe it, cause when I say I am a baby I MEAN I am a BABY!! LOL Oh the other thing I took was my stomach stuffie my daughter and hubby had got for me before surgery. It was a nice comfort and a great conversation piece every time someone came in my room to check on me. Let us know how it goes when you are able to!! Good luck on your journey!! Here's to a new you !!!
  12. YEAH!! Best feeling ever!! I was just about to go buy more hangers when I decided to go thru my closet. WOW!! Now I need more clothes to fill up the hangers. LOL
  13. I had no problems after surgery, took four days and things starting moving again. Then around the month mark OMG I don't know what happened but things stopped. I had a horrible three days, but when I called my docs office they said I could use Miralax. I put a capful in my tea every night and I have had no problems since. I probably don't need it every night but I still put it in there every night. I am so scared of that happening again. It was awful. I go back to my docs this Tuesday and will see what they say to do then. I hope you find something that works for you!!
  14. Congratulations on your decision! To bad your insurance won't cover it, but I am sure it will be the best money you ever spent!! March will be here before you know it!!!
  15. I'm almost 9 weeks post op and right now the toughest things for me would be remembering my second round of Vitamins and chews. I have no problem taking any of my stuff, it's remembering to do so. I have set a timer for 2pm daily so we will see if that helps. I can't take my Vitamin to late cause then I find I taste it in the middle of the night. I had no problem getting in all my liquids, but since our weather has gotten cold here in AZ drinking plain Water is just not cutting it. I have been drinking more hot decaf tea though to get it and it all seems good.
  16. Thanks so much for this post. I started at 314 and I hope to do all those things and then some!!!
  17. Hi wicked_ash I can totally relate to your post. It will be 12 this coming April but I too had moved clear across the country from NY to AZ because of my husbands job. It was a super tough move for me to leave all my friends and family. I had a rough go at it in the beginning (I also had a 4yr old daughter). I am pretty sure the move attributed to me putting back on previous weight I had lost. I'm so glad to hear your hubby is supporting you. Give yourself some more time believe me, in a few more weeks you will be feeling great. You have to know how strong you are to have done all you have done in the last 6 months!! Here's to a GREAT 2015 for us both!!!!!
  18. @JaneJaneDoe I am so glad to help!! Believe me I know it won't be easy but it WILL be so worth it. I keep saying I can't imagine how I will feel in another two months!! Good Luck on your journey!!!!
  19. I was feeling the same way. I am almost 9 weeks post op (On Monday) and my experience has been totally different than what I expected. For that I am happy!! My pain was very minimal, I have been following my docs orders and the weight is coming off pretty steadily. I am going to continue to focus on the good, ( I am a big what iffer....lol) and work this sleeve for all it is worth.
  20. I have been reading posts on here well before my surgery which was on Oct 27th 2014, and reading and posting on here since my surgery. I come across posts that have people struggling and when I read that they have no support system, or barely any support at home it really upsets me. This is such a HUGE life change I could not imagine going thru this without my support system. I try to get on here and post where I can hoping to make a difference, because I know first hand how just one comment or compliment or Way To Go, can go a long way. I know how lucky I am. My husband and daughter support me 110% in this journey and have since day one. My parents have also been supportive and very positive. I have friends that encourage me and help me where and when they can. Even my coworkers have been great. I haven't run into one person who has said a negative thing to me yet. (well at least to my face, you never know behind my back, but I would hope not.) it is just so hard for me to read when people are struggling and the people in their lives that should be lifting them up and helping seem to be tearing them down. That is what I LOVE about this site. I love the help, the encouragement, the advice, and the YOU CAN DO IT attitude. We all struggle no matter how well you are doing. I just want to reach thru this computer and HUG them. Please for those of us that have done well or are doing well please please continue to post to help out those that need it. Our positive posts can really help you never know who you might be making a difference to at any time. For anyone struggling be strong, I am not a very strong person, I have always had people to depend on and that made me nervous going into this, but I have found I can do this and you can too!! And for all you looking into this, starting your journey, remember this site can be helpful and there seems to always be someone here when you need them. No question is stupid, your feelings matter!! Okay sorry this is so long, but I just had to get that out. Thanks to all who have supported me with your kind words and encouragement!! And even when it sounds like someone might giving you tougher love than you would like, remember they did take the time to comment and try to help!!! Good luck everyone!!!!
  21. I weigh daily and log it, this is per my doc. Usually I would just do it weekly. We took before shots the Sunday before my Monday surgery on 10/27. We take front, side and back shots is the same clothes (skin tight tshirt and shorts) and the same ones in my bra and undies once a month in the exact same spot. I also take my measurements every month. Even being just 8 1/2 weeks post op it is fun to look back and see the difference!!
  22. I had my surgery on Oct 27th and by Nov 5th I was back in the gym on the treadmill. I waited till my doctor cleared me at about 4 weeks to start on strength training. And like other posters said I was walking in the hospital same day as surgery and walking every day outside once I came home.
  23. I am 8 weeks and 3 days post op and have been following my docs orders like crazy. I have had a few times where I smell something and I am like Mmmmm I want that, but it doesn't overwhelm me and I am fine. I feel lucky right now cause I really haven't had hunger pains. I do two shakes a day and one small meal and I have been losing consistently. After some Christmas shopping myself, my daughter and my mom went to a Mexican restaurant for dinner. My mom is visiting us in AZ and had been craving Mexican. Usually I like to plan ahead before I go out ( this was my third restaurant visit since surgery) but this time we just went, I told her if there wasn't anything for me I would just eat when I got home. Well they brought the chips and salsa and I just stared at them. I wanted some but was afraid to eat the chips. I ordered just the carne asada steak. It was thin steak (my first steak also since surgery). I cut it up in tiny pieces and dipped it in the salsa and chewed it up. I ate till I felt full, not stuffed. It all went down well and stayed down and I had no issues later that night. I had to estimate what I ate since my food scale was at home. The more I do this the more "normal" I feel. I focus on the company more than the food. It will all come with time. When I was brand new I would read posts like this and wonder if it would really happen for me, and I can honestly say it did. That is why I think it is soooo important for people to post on here for people who are struggling and for new people. It really helps, I know it helped me and I am trying to pay it forward to help others. Have a GREAT Holiday Season everyone, and Merry Christmas!!!!
