I had mine a year ago and have only lost 30 lbs. If I ask for a fill my doctor says I am not trying. I get another fill in 2 weeks and he says he will tighten me down. I can eat all I want. I am not really sure what I need to do because if I could do it on my own I would have.
  2. Mine is on the right because I have a permanent colostomy. So my doctor has to do my backwards! I was scheduled to have gastric bypass and my doctor said he wouldn't do it because of the colostomy. So here I am with the band and losing very slowly! I think after another fill or two I will be ok.
  3. My doctor lets you eat full meals at your own discretion. I had a bean burrito from Taco Bell.
  4. I love this forum! Quick responses. This is what I eat in a typical day. Breakfast - oatmeal Lunch - Smart Ones from Weight Watchers..I pick the ones with the most protien Snack - powerbar Dinner - Meat - preferrably chicken or beef and a veggie. I have been trying not to snack after dinner but I like to eat cereal at night. I try to eat South Beach stuff but I really like shredded wheat with raisins. I want to eat something sweet all the time though and I crave ice cream and mints. Any suggestions. I feel I am losing way too slow!
  5. I lost 23lbs the first month I had my surgery but have only lost 7 lbs in the next 3 months. I have had one fill and I can eat just about anything and as much as I want as long as I get it chewed up well. Rolls and donuts don't do too good...lol! I don't know how I am supposed to feel when I am full seems I am never full. I usually just stop eating when I am about half done with my meal. My problem is that I desire something sweet. What do you guys eat that is sweet and lo-cal?
  6. I can eat as much as I want as long as I chew it really well. I guess I don't understand exactly how I am supposed to feel. If I eat bread or don't chew well I can feel it get stuck and it really hurts. I can usually walk it off but I don't know that I ever feel really full. I usually just stop eating or try to only eat half of my meal. What does full feel like?
  7. Well my doctor said I couldn't get a fill until I quit losing weight. I could eat all day and all night. I lost 21 lbs the first month and have only lost 6lbs this month. I hope he gives me a fill next week. I didn't have the surgery to have to live on will power.
  8. Well I have to tell everyone that I was disappointed when I went for my 4 week check up. I have lost 23 lbs and I asked my doctor when I was going to get my first fill. He said "when you quit losing weight." I told him that I am hungry and can eat a ton of food. He said "well as long as you are losing weight you don't need a fill. I am doing this on sheer will power alone. If I was going to do that I why did I get the band. I was so looking forward to getting that fill. I have another appointment in 4 weeks. So do I go ahead and eat what I want and not lose or go ahead and lose and take the chance I still won't get a fill. I am sitting her right now hungry. I had a Weight Watcher "Smart One" for lunch and a bowl of oatmeal for breakfast. Any one care to make a comment?
  9. My goal is to exercise 5 days a week and to lose 25 lbs before Christmas. When I get under 220 I am going to Cancun as my reward.
  10. Try the diet first. The first 6 weeks after the banding there is not much restriction and you are basically doing it on shear will power now after the fill I am sure that is a different story but I have not had one yet.
  11. I have started walking on the treadmill for 15 minutes a day 5 days a week and then I get on the bike for 5 or 10 minutes. I can't weigh because I am on a business trip. I am also not eating mushies. I have to do lots of chewing because there is not way to eat all mushies out 3 meals a day. I try to eat salmon or chicken and chew to mush and have potatoes as a side. I have had some pasta. I think I have lost more weight but won't know till late next week. It is so easy to exercise at a hotel, very convenient.
  12. I am down 19lbs but my right side hurts not my left. My port is on my right so that may explain it. I am having soft foods now and it has been a little difficult this weekend since my son just got married last night and we had food galore! I won't be able to see my surgeon until Sept. 20th because I have to go out of town for work:faint:so I hope he give me a fill then. It will be tough to try to find something to eat out while I am gone. Does anyone know when I will be able to swim? I will be 2 weeks out Monday!
  13. I had my surgery on Aug. 20th. I am eating soft foods and I am doing pretty good but I have stopped losing weight. Yesterday I had 1/2 cup oatmeal, 2 sips of soup but it was gross so I didn't eat it. A sugar free pudding, a scrambled egg and refried beans so I don't know why I am not losing but I guess I will survive anyway. I can't wait until I can have real food because I am going straight to my favorite mexican resturant and have some grilled chicken and veggies. Do we have to have decaffinated tea?
  14. I am suprised how different some people's diets are. I cant have cottage cheese until Monday. I am doing the Carnation Instant Breakfast with skim milk in between meals and that really helps. It is so funny I can't wait for oatmeal and mashed potatoes. How long did you have to wait before you can eat those things? Banded8/20/07 Down 16 lbs today!!
