  2. I have started to change what I eat little by little, I do use the fitness pal but not as often as I should. I have not put in 100% because I am scared of being denied by my insurance.
  3. Why are you getting the band removed. I got it removed because it never actually worked I had a lot of problems the whole time. A true nightmare!!!!!
  4. Hi Scylla, I live in the city of Chicago, my doctor is Dr. Hungness, the surgery will be at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. I was not given a date. According to my calculation I'm having my surgery some time in April just because of the 6month weight management program thing, but he told me that his office would be submitting my claim now. It would surprise me if I get denied; it can go either way now! Have you started to change your eating habits?
  5. Hi Jess805, why did you get denied? You want the Lapband done?
  6. Hello Scylla! I'm also in Chicago and I'm getting gastric bypass. What are you getting? Who's your doctor/ hospital? I Started my journey in November 2013, today I saw my surgeon for the final consult.
  7. I saw my surgeon today he said that because I've already had the Lapband and now I'm getting gastric bypass it's a revision. The surgery is going to be of a higher risk, longer and I'm going to be staying in the hospital for a longer period of time. I'm still planning on going through with the surgery. I turned in my documentation from my primary, cleared by the NUT, psych eval and 2/3 NUT classes. Dr. said they were going to submit the claim with my insurance. I haven't finished the 6 months supervised diet can I still get approved? So I guess it a waiting game now!!!!!
  8. Hi, Sophia......., I'm decided that I am going tell ppl when and if they ask me. Mainly because there is nothing to be ashamed of. I know I have a problem and I'm forced to look into and deal with it! Honestly having surgery is only going to prolong my life. I know people including family are going to talk s**t, and I don't care. I'm doing it for my kids and I.
  9. I also have BCBS of Illinois and GBP is not covered in my policy due to my job. I also have the medical card that does cover it
  10. I had the shrink eval., 2 with nutritionist, blood work like checking for cholesterol, blood cells, and cleared by my primary
  11. I see the surgeon for the final consult and to turn in my primaries documentation so I guess it just a waiting game now. Even though I haven't finished my 6 month weight management program they are going to submit to my insurance.
  12. I only have wonderful things to say about NWH. My surgeon literally saved my life, due to the last complication I had with the Lapband!!!!
  13. Thanks! Where are you getting it done at? I'm having mine done at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. When did you start the program? I started in November, so I have a while to go. I have to see my surgeon for the consult Feb. 25 2013 don't know what to expect.
  14. My body from Chicago Illinois having gastric bypass, Looking for a buddy?
  15. Omg do I need it!!!! Like most people in sure, I've got so many what ifs in my head along with what am I going to do situations! Like what am I going to do with my 2 yr old when he wants me to carry him, play with him and all the other stuff that comes along with the terrible 2s! He doesn't know what's going on. Insurance? Should I tell people like family, friends and even strangers? And what supplements or what brands should I get? Correct work outs? Recipes.....etc!!!!
  16. Hi I'm Yvette from Chicago I'm a single mom of a 9yr old and a 2 yr old. I had the Lapband in 2007 and had nothing but problems with it finally got it removed in 2013. My surgeon suggested I get gastric bypass, I couldn't agree more. I started the 6 month weight management program that I need to complete for insurance purposes Nov. 2013. I see my surgeon Feb. 25, 2014. So many emotions, thoughts and even things to do before the surgery!
  17. Hello everyone! I'm new to this, from Chicago Illinois. I am in the middle of the 6 month monitoring process in the weight loss program at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. I'm so scared that my insurance will deny me! All my life I've struggled with my weight and tried every single diet losing some weight and gaining even more. On 2007 I had the lap band done. It did nothing for me always had a problem; slippage, not connected, flipped port you name it; it happened to me! Best wishes to everyone on their journey!
