  1. I too am May 19th.. Ready Hannysgrammy for a new you? Do u have a pre-op diet to follow? If so when do you start?
  2. I'm doing it alone! I'm a single mom of 2 boys! My "saint of a mother" is taking off of work to watch my 2yr old because he's a hand full!!!!! He is whom I fear the most after surgery:-o!!!! My younger sister was going to go with me but she has court! My older sister wants to go with me but I'd rather her stay with her own kids. I'm positive I'm going to be ok. They only require an adult to pick me up when I'm discharged.
  3. Hello everyone How are you guys doing? I'm excited, scared, nervous, worried & anxious for my surgery on May 19, 2014!!! Of course I'm counting down the days. Is anybody getting or already got the Insure Nutrition supplements that were covered by some insurances? And if so when? How far ahead are you guys putting in your claim?
  4. I'm having mine May 19,2014!!!!!!!! Can't wait!!!
  5. It's official!!!!! Woo-Hoo:) I got my surgery date! MAY 19, 2014 finally!!!!
  6. I think what I hated most of the Lapband was the acid reflux and heartburn!!! That's one of the reasons why I want to do the gastric bypass myself!
  7. Hi everyone, I was told I'm having mine Mid-May however no exact date yet:( Maybe you guys can give me some advise....... I have two weeks vacation time and some personal time I was saving for surgery I need to take it before June 30, 2014 or I'll lose it!! Unfortunately I don't have the exact date and about 8 other co-workers also have time off they need to take and it's 1st come 1st serve bases should I wing it and just put in my time off for mid May or should I wait?
  8. Got tired of waiting reached out for some answers!!!!! Succeeded I emailed the person that handles all of my doctors surgery insurance claims. She said my paper work was went out a few days again and that it doesn't take long to hear back from them. Wooo hoo!!! Also it looks like I'm going to be having surgery in mid May because my surgeon is booked till then! At least I got an idea of when I having it; I'm ok with at!
  9. I am also feeling like it's not going to happen for me!!! I've seen and been cleared by everyone that needed to clear me! I had my surgeon consult February 25th at that point he told me my request would be submitted to my insurance. I have my final pre-op nut class on Monday. I'm especially anxious because I'm a single mom and I don't know what I'm going to do wit my boys (2 &9)!!!!! Also my job requires like a mint in advanced of requests for time off!!!! I can't stop thinking about it even though I have a lot of other things going on!!!! :0
  10. That was a nice deal. I work for a religious facility and weight loss surgery is no cover and never will. Besides that they have good health coverage. I am going to be able to get my protein drinks from them though!
  11. Hi cellardoor. I'm good waiting for my approval or waiting for my 6month supervised program. Next week I go to my l last per-op nut class. What surgery are you planning on having?
  12. Your putting way too much pressure on urself!!! Don't be so hard on urself! That also affects ur weight loss! Also our bodies run at their own pace! As of me No word yet. I'm not surprised cause I haven't even finished the 6 month supervised diet. Which is why I don't know why my doctor said they were sending in my request for surgery
  13. Wow! I'm in Chicago Illinois and the 6 month weight loss program is the requirement for most insurances. 6 months is the average for GBS for my insurance and I feel that's a long time. A year would feel like for ever for me. Lol then again everybody is different.
  14. Good for you!!! Your on your way to a new and improved you!!!! Everything is going to be fine. Do you have everything else ready, like vitamins, foods, etc....?
  15. Sugarfreeme hi! How are you? How is everything going for you so far?
  16. Meintraining how are you? How's your journey going?
  17. Wellflower.... Questioning yourself is normal but take inconsideration take your extending your life and that this is your second chance. Anyways a lot of people are going to be doing that for you! Did you start changing what you eat already?
  18. Congratulations to both of you guys for the surgery and approval! I'm very happy for both of you! You guys are being very proactive! I need to learn from you!!!! Francinleclaire..... Why do you have to wait 1-3 months foa an actual date? Seems like a very long time!
  19. Congratulations!!!!!! I'm very happy for you!!!! So they are removing the Lapband and doing the gastric bypass in the same surgery?????
  20. Hope you get approved!!!! Don't give up, especially because you have medical issues other than over weight! I don't understand why they refuse to take it out if it's causing more problems to your health. Are you in a weight loss program? or will you need to join one to have gastric bypass? I had to go through a weight loss program again because I'm getting my surgery in a different hospital than the Lapband and also that was a very long time ago
  21. My bmi is 50+. No other health problem. Just because I've been through hell and back when I had the Lapband, that's just my luck! That's it!!!!
  22. Are you nervous? Excited? Anxious? What are you doing to prepare?
  23. I saw my surgeon the other day for the last time before the surgery. He said all my paper work was in with the exception of my 6 month supervised weight management program. So his office was going to submit my claim to my insurance......I'm just waiting on an answer now!!!!! So what are you guys doing to pass the time? -I've been on this site of course! -Looking a you tube videos which might not be a good idea!! -Researching bariatric products -Reading labels, recipes and rereading everything that has been given to me by my weight loss program
  24. Omg! I don't feel alone anymore! I had a horrible time with the Lapband. Put in 2007, don't even know what kind it was. 1st time I went to get it filled port was flipped; surgery again! Went to get it filled again band had a leak:(; surgery again!! Fixed!! Had to wait longer to get filled because of possible tissue damage, then what do u know surgeon moved:( new surgeon filled me once. Then my insurance was cancelled. For a year it was fine and I got insurance again then all of the sudden I couldn't eat anything or even drink anything. The band slipped really bad made my stomach to the shape of a mushroom. The new surgeon replaced the band with a new band, it was supposedly an even better band. Yeah rite!!! Got my 1st fill no problem went to get second fill when they checked to see how many cc's was already in the band there was nothing in there! Band leaked out!!!! Doctor said I had to get an upper GI. I was so mad, sad, disappointed u name I had it! My sister and I got it done at the same time and she has never had a problem. I left that place didn't go back. Forward a year or two; I went to another hospital because I was in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy and having complications not caused the the band had to tests done they told me I needed to get the lapband removed because it had slipped! Had to get it removed by the doctor that put it in (2nd doctor which BTW has a god complex). Finally in mid 2012 he removed the band after a couple of months after having my baby! Woo hoo or so I thought! Turns out the self proclaimed wonderful doctor left the tubing inside! In the beginning I had no problem with the tubing, but little by little I started having stomach pain drs were uncertain that it was the tubing because it's designed to be in the stomach. The pain became consistent to the point of not being able to take deep breaths in order for me to breath I had to press down hard on the area of pain . There was no way in hell I was going back to the "god complexed doctor" I decided to go to the hospital where I had my son. I was dying had emergency surgery by the weight lose surgeon "my hero" Which BTW will be performing my RNY if god permits. And here I am......ready for my next chapter!what do u guys think?
