  1. I used Dr. Q. No regrets.
  2. I am on long term pain meds because of several neck fusions, bad hip, etc. Started taking them again 2 days after surgery, with my doctors approval
  3. I had a band put in in 2007. Saw Dr. Quinones on April 1 and had it removed and the sleeve done. No issues and no regrets.
  4. I see Dr. Quinones on April 1,
  5. I'll let you know after April 1.
  6. Oh, you are so on my wavelength! Sorted through all my clothes this weekend and organized them by size. Pretty much a nerd, but I don't care. I'm just so stoked that I won't be in my fat clothes for too much longer. More worried about making it through the pre op diet right now. At least without killing anyone........
  7. Having Lapband removed and sleeve done on april 1 with Dr. Quinones. What did you pack/bring with you or wish you would have brought? Thanks
  8. Man did I screw that post up. April 1 with Dr. Quinones at Santa Fe Medical.
  9. After going back and forth, I pretty much said screw it and went with my gut on surgeons after weeks of research. Will be have revision from Band to Sleeve April 1 with Dr. Quinones. Probably traveling alone if anyone else will be there about this time.
  10. Looks like Feb 8 with Dr. Quinones. Tired of researching and changing my mind. LOL
  11. Don't blame him, you look like a teenager.
  12. So you mind sharing cost ktodd or messaging me?
  13. Talk to YOUR insurance about complications, I did and they don't cover it. I am battling the same thing in my head about complications ans cost/where to have it dealt with. Talk to the Doctor that is doing the surgery about his policy.
  14. Thanks for the replies. Been in touch with insurance and it is still only gastric bypass. Hoping to meet with surgeon next week to discuss options. Was just seeing if someone here might have ran into this already.
  15. Okay guy's need some info. Our insurance only cover "gastric bypass". I have some issues that I hope, don't really want the bypass, may be contraindications. 1. I am a long term pain management patient due to several cervical spine surgeries and have to take steroids and NSAIDS at times. 2. I have redundant colon 3. A lot, my gastro's terms, of diverticulosis and have polyps. 4. I have Irritable bowl syndrome. Bouts of constipation and diarrhea. Thanks Jude
  16. Been researching and have pretty much settled on these 3 surgeons in Mexico: Ariel Ortiz, Obesity Control Center Guilleremo Alvarez, Endobariatric Dr. Lopez, Specialized Bariatrics Any info on any of them would be GRATEFULLY appreciated. If you don't want to post it here, please PM me. Dr. Lopez is the cheapest then Dr. Ortiz and Dr. Alvarez. Money is not the only consideration though. I am looking at having Lapband removed and a sleeve put in place. I go see my primary care physician on Friday, 1/31/13 and if I get his blessing want to move on it as soon as I can. TIA
  17. I currently have a band and want to get it removed and a sleeve performed. Thanks for the reply.
  18. How much was it for self pay?
  19. Any of y'all self pay and had a revision to sleeve?
  20. Brandy, Can you post or PM me your short list? I am in the same boat where I am researching and narrowing down options. I have an appointment with my PCP Fri and if he gives me the go, going to move forward. Thanks
  21. Hey guy's, Sulphur here. Anyone self pay in La? My insurance only covers bypass and that is off the table. Seriously considering Mexico because of the cost and reviews on some of the docs there. Thoughts?
  22. No problems with dairy. I have really bad diverticulosis and whey seems to make it into diverticulitis. Very painful. Thanks for the reply
  23. Hello everyone. Just read, well not just, but over the last couple of days read all 72 pages. Have not decided on Docs yet, but Ortiz is on my short list. Your post have been very informative and I appreciate you being so willing to share your experiences. I have a couple of other health issues and not sure about all the protein shakes. Whey gives my issues. Just the liquid diet scares the hell out of me. Going to meet with my PCP next week and discuss a revision from Lapband to VSG and go from there. Insurance only covers bypass and that is off the table due to some of my other health issues. Thanks
