  2. That's terrible that you were treated that way. I also joined Weight Watchers 2 weeks ago and it is much easier to stay on with the band. I'm glad I decided not to tell them about my band and now I'm extra glad since I read your post. Again, I'm sorry you had to go through that.:bored: Regards, Alfie
  3. there is also a possibility that if he removed the needle after taking out the original fill he may have put it back in but missed the port, therefore put it back into your body but without it going in the band...I've heard this can happen...not sure if it's true.
  4. Hi I totally hear you about not wanting to get an unfill. I have been struggling to keep away my acid reflux (which I never had before being banded). I notice that if I am tight enough to have good restriction, then the acid reflux comes along with it. Today, I decided to take my meds in the afternoon and not eat anything after 6pm (having my last drink now). I'm also on Prilosec.
  5. I'm sorry you are going throught that. I don't have an answer but I am going through almost the same thing. I was banded in Jan 2008. While I was reading your post, I was thinking that it could have been me writing it. I thought if I fell asleep sitting up it would help, but it doesnt. I have been taking Prilosec and I eat really way before I even attempt to sleep but to no avail. My problem is that if I have enough of a fill to have good restriction, I also get the acid reflux and that's what I'm going through now. Hope you feel better soon. Alfie
  6. Hi Jeannebs1 It's good to move up slow. I'm not sure why my "Dr Fill" put in over 1/2 cc but like you said I'm going to try to ride it out. I was able to get down 2 protein shakes yesterday and about 40 oz of water (which really isn't enough water). Last night, I took a drink of water and then threw a little of it up. Go figure Right now, I'm drinking light orange juice and it's going down fine but I have to drink it slow and earlier I had a protein shake. This is my second day of liquids so tomorrow I start soft food and then Tuesday back to regular eating. I hope this is that ever elusive sweet spot (I've been there before).
  7. I have 8.7 something in my band. I just had a fill today. Before I had my fill today, I had 8 in my band and had no restriction...hardly!! I'm hoping this will get me to the place where I will have more control! At one point I had 9 cc's and couldn't keep down water so had an unfill then had no restriction...uggg this band is pecular. They tell us to go on fluids for 2 days then soft foods for another 2 then back on regular diet. Right now, I can tell that I'm tight but I will try to avoid getting and unfill unless necessary.
  8. Hi Becky, I always get stuck on scrambled eggs!! Maybe it's the texture.
  9. Hi, I had at least 6 fills and now I have very good restriction but then it's not even been a week. I actually have 9 cc's in a 10 cc band and for some reason I never seem to be able to keep my restriction for more than a week or two. Dr. Fill :tongue2: says that he thinks this one will do it. So far it's been good so I guess we'll see as time goes on. I am also curious as to how much is in your band because maybe he gives you a tiny amount each time and you're just not there yet.
  10. Slim fast has a lo carb/hi Protein shake. I've only seen chocolate and vanilla. They taste pretty good. They're called "Slim-Fast Low Carb Diet" and I've only found them in Rite Aid so far. Protein: 20 Carbs: 6 Fiber: 4 Calories: 190 Sugar: 1
  11. I just had a fill yesterday bringing me to 9 cc's in the 10 cc Inamed Band. I have gotten fills, gotten restriction, lost restriction, lost weight. gained weight. At the times that i did have good restriction, I would stay satisfied for at least 5 hours. I think my major problem with restriction is that my doctor follow a schedule for fills that in my opinion is too far apart. I would get a fill and for like 3 weeks would be great then lose my restriction (completely at times) and begin to gain the 10 lbs or so that I lost. Yesterday. Dr Fill  says that he thinks that this one may be the one. Before this, at 8 cc's I was able to eat an entire "diner" wrap. I was getting full quicker then pre band but not enough to lose weight.
  12. Hi Sandi, That was happening to me too a while back with the acid reflux. I wound up sleeping in the recliner for a few days while taking Prilosec and eating late is another big culprit which of course can't do anyway:frown:. As far as the other bigger problem which is that you can even swallow a sip...get thee to the emergency room if it last more than a day or two. Doesn't your doctor have someone filling in for him or at least an answering service? Or find someone that can give you an emergency unfill. Some doctors will but a lot won't unless you are their patient.
  13. I know you must be frustrated. I am in a similar boat. I am 5'11 . Before I even looked into lapband I was 310 lbs. I had lost 15 lbs so when I went to my first appointment I was 295. Then, the doctor put me on Optifast and over a 5 week period I lost an additional 21 lbs which put me to 274. I had my surgery on 1/23/08. And now I am 272. If I counted all the weight I gained and relost since my surgery it's probably about 50 more lbs. I had so many fills but typically only kept my restriction for a week or so. Two days ago, I had another fill bringing me to 9 cc's in a 10 cc band. Dr. Fill  told me that he thinks this will be the one. So far I'm still on liquids for the rest of this day so we shall see. I think you just need to keep getting fills until you get to the spot that stays.
  14. hi there. Can you explain a little more about what you mean?
  15. Hi Nance, I feel the same thing that I never felt before and thought the same thing..that it was some sort of hard growth. This thing that I feel is right in the center about 2 inches below the center of my breasts. I do believe it's the band and didn't mention it on here because I figured people would think I am crazy. My port is about an 2 inches above my bellybutton right above my long incision. Maybe I'll ask the doctor next time.
  16. hi Ecolvin Well, I was banded on Jan 23 and didn't have very much restriction until my 4th fill...Not even that it was wonderful...5th fill was wonderful. In have 7.5 cc's in a 10cc band. Now, I am very restricted as long as I follow the rules of protein first, veggie next and starch if there's room (usually there isn't). You'll get there!! Regards, Alfie
