  1. One thing I vividly remember too was Columbine. Espically now that my son is in HS and seeing all the potential weirdos, it is a scary thought....
  2. Hopefully, POA won't be necessary. Can you imagine how your parents would feel though if it were necessary. One of my new quotes applies here: "Sometimes you just need to take a nap and get over it"
  3. AH MUNCHKIN!!! I bet your parents are having a hard time dealing with this. It is a shock and I am sure that they are scared. Still...no excuse for them to treat your poor sister like that. They need to be thinking "What if?" and make this a good experience before hand. Sorry that you are put in the middle.
  4. Welcome Magaines!! It is good to have you here. By far the best forum on this site! I am not biased though....
  5. Good for you...you have inspired me to check it out!
  6. Mal~ Hey lady. How goes it??? How is your sons friend? I think of him often.
  7. Oh Dee...you sound like a hottie. Should have been living in So. Cal?!?
  8. Denver...your so lucky!!! I haven't been able to eat scrambled eggs for a long, long time!
  9. Why won't anyone do your fills? I think that is ridiculous!!!
  10. Tally~ I have had several fills (I am so lucky and so blessed that I am local) but whenever I felt like I could eat more than I was comfortable with, I called to get a fill. I think that the process would have been alot slower without access to Dr. K's office. I did the lap band to avoid knee replacement surgery. I was going to have to have it done this year if I didn't do something drastic. At 33, I was not ready for that. I laugh because looking better is a perk...but I literally lost my 8 year old and my 5 year old in weight. I can't believe that I lugged that around for all those years!!
  11. I agree Tally...it is a huge mood booster to see the scale moving before surgery....I loved it too!
  12. I know it...I am 5'6 and my goal is 132. I am in a 10 right now, but would LOVE to be a 6 (my dream size...who knows?!?!) The key for me was to mix my calories up 1200 for a few days, 800 for one, 600 for another, 1000 for 2 so my body was ALWAYS guessing. Also, working out. I was a big workout chickie the first 6 months. Now since I stopped, it is harder to get back into it...but I KNOW IN MY HEART this is going to be the key to get the last 20 off and maintaining my loss. Hopefully life will settle down by October and I will be ready to get back on it...
  13. It is hard. I had to keep my calories around 800-1200. I also mix it up...really high calories for 2-3 days, lower the following days. I swear exercise is the key...Since I have not been working out consistently, I have only lost 5 pounds in 3 months. When I was working out I lost 70 the first 6 months....
  14. Cookies, chips...any simple carb goes right down. It is the devil!! Good luck on your no cookie journey~
  15. Jaime~ For me, my heaviest was 227 (my consult). Surgery was 217. I count by my heaviest, because that was what people saw me at. At 6 months, I was down 70 pounds. I am almost at 9 months and am down 75. That has been hard. I am exactly 20 pounds from goal. I am working hard and would like to be there by 12/12 my bandiversary!
  16. Dork~ That would be an AMAZING accomplishment to be 100 pounds lighter. You need to carry a camera around, just to get their "first" faces!! That would be classic!
  17. Hi girls... I am feeling better this morning...still a little achy, but nothing like yesterday. I am going to hold off on calling Dr. K. I am actually hoping that he can remove my tumors from my liver...he is the one that discovered them, and then maybe check on the band while he is at it. I have to wait for DH to recover from his surgery. Counting down...next Tuesday. Then it will be my turn, I want to get it done this year as I have met my deductible already!
  18. Jack: Unfortunately, no. My mom just had her gall bladder out today, my in-laws are in Palm Springs on vacation and my husband is working and is having major surgery next Tuesday to remove 18-20 inches of his colon. He is working so much this week because he is comission only. This couldn't happen at a worse time...I do feel a tad better than I did awhile ago, I think I will call my surgeon in the morning, just to be on the safe side.
  19. I posted this on the main forum. What do you guys think?!?!? Anyone know?!?! I am freaking out, which I am sure is not helping matters at all!!! Can you feel if your band has slipped? I am having a sharp pain next to my port and a little above...directly below my sternum. I am also having heartburn. My lower half of my abdomen feels crampy. I can feel something that reminds me of my port directly below the sternum area, it is firm like the port. I am able to get food down and keep it down. I am not refluxing or anything. I have not PB'd or slimed in awhile. I am concerned that it could have slipped. I have drank hot liquids and am not feeling better... If I still feel this way tomorrow, I will call my doc, unless you think it is necessary tonight?!?
