Denied by BCBS Federal with BMI < 40, next step
i didn't officially get denied, but i did gain weight to meet the BMI requirement. I was just a few pounds away like you. What was amazing was that it was really hard to gain those 10 pounds. It took me at least a month!

How often do you step on the scale?
Hey Mike, I'm a daily weigher like you. I weigh myself every morning. I know some say you shouldn't, but I find I do better with my weight loss when I do. I got sleeved on May 14, 2014. The first week I lost 15 pounds. The second week I lost ZERO. I was starting to panic, but the weight finally started coming off again and I'm down about 33lbs in 7 weeks.

What is everyone eating?
I'm 7 weeks postop. I can pretty much eat anything except tough meats. This is what a normal day looks like for me: Breakfast - Syntrax Peanut Butter Protein shake Snack - Dannon Light & Fit strawberry yogurt lunch - Scrambled egg, protein pancake, or some kind of protein from a restaurant Snack - Mozzarella cheese stick with pizza dipping sauce dinner - Whatever I cook for the family. Last night it was taco cups (flour tortilla in a cupcake tin, fat free refried Beans, with ground meat and a little cheese...baked). I was able to eat about 1 to 1-1/2 of them. I haven't been eating enough veggies, so i plan to talk to my NUT about it and tweak my eating plan.

Change in tastes?
I can't tolerate sweets as much anymore. Everything tastes overly sweet. I took a sip of Lipton Citrus Tea the other day and it tasted like beer. Nasty! This whole thing is a learning process.

What Is (or Was) Holding You Back from Weight Loss Surgery?
I thought WLS was for only the super morbidly obese. I didn't know that you didn't have to be over 500 lbs to get WLS. When a family member suggested it I was really offended at first, but after some research I realized that it might be the right thing for me. Now I'm 30+ lbs lighter and off one of my blood pressure medications. Although I'm only 6 weeks out, I wish I would've gotten the sleeve sooner.

Rash on stomach-pics

Rash on stomach-pics
i would personally put some cortisone on it and see how it looks by tomorrow. i'm sensitive to bandaid adhesive and my stomach kinda looked like yours.

Louisiana Sleevers?
I ate a whole crab last weekend at about 3 1/2 weeks post op. It was nice to feel "normal" and eat what everyone else was eating. The acid reflux is KILLING me. Especially at night. I'm taking Omeprazole in the morning, and Maalox at night. I have to fall asleep sitting up, and I can hear the acid sizzling in the back of my throat. It feels like something is stuck in my throat...terrible.

Since I can't post my video... I posted new album 'Dressing Room' in my 'Gallery'

How does it feel?
Two years ago I lost 45 lbs by doing a low carb high Protein diet...went from 225 to 180. I went from a size 18/20 to a size 12 in Old Navy jeans. I felt like a million bucks. I went from getting winded while walking up 1 flight of stairs, to being able to practically sprint up them without missing a beat. I could finally cross my legs! That was my favorite thing. I felt so small. When i would sit on my couch i barely took up any room and i felt so tiny! i also didn't feel so bloated and full all the time. i went from breaking a sweat while walking on a treadmill for 5 minutes to jogging. i had energy to dance around my kitchen and take zumba classes. my husband and i even took dance classes together and it felt amazing that he could wrap his arms around me. No more huge muffin top hanging over my pants or pants cutting into my stomach. No more marks on my ankles from my socks digging into my skin. Getting out of a car? Easy peasy. I can't wait to feel this way again!

Initial Consultation
i just went for my initial consultation at Dr. Lavin's office this week (2 1/2 hour drive!) I met with the nurse practitioner and we went over all the basics to get me approved. I have to jump through so many hoops. i also have to do a sleep study to see if i have sleep apnea. other than that my appt was pretty uneventful. they said i will have 1 night stay in the hospital and then i can go home. i will prob be out of work for a good 3 weeks. the hardest part of the appointment was looking around at the people in the waiting room and realizing where i was.... i was a fat chick in a weight loss surgery office. it was a coming to jesus moment. how did i let myself get this far? i'm tired of my life being about my weight! DH said his coworker told him the other day that i looked like i lost weight. although it was a great compliment, i don't want my weight to be what people see when they look at me.

Everything happens for a reason
Glad you paid attention to that little voice in the back of your head. And many thanks to the big Russian! Hope you can get back on track with your surgery and maybe a new surgeon.

Makeovers... pre or post surgery?
I tried doing my makeup differently this weekend and I love it! I think this will be the new me. My consultation with my surgeon for VSG is tomorrow and I think I'll get all dolled up with my new makeup and actually straighten my hair for a change. I say cut your hair or do whatever makes you feel good!

Protein drinks
Thanks for the suggestion. I just ordered a bunch of samples of the Syntrax from Nashua Nutrition. They were less than $2 each so I can try them before wasting a ton of money. I hope they are as good as the Ideal Protein chocolate shake. I haven't had one yet that can top it.

Protein protein protein!
Ideal Protein chocolate shakes are awesome but they are $4 each.

Plastics on you face. Would you or did you ?
A few years ago I lost 75 pounds and hated my saggy neck. So at 32 years old I had a neck lift with fat transferred to my face and lips. Best money I ever spent!! When I go to a new doctor and they ask my surgical history they are shocked to hear of someone as young as me getting plastic surgery. And it also looks so natural you would never know it!

Anyone else have a 'healthy' husband and started
My husband goes to the gym religiously 4 days a week. He's done that for over 15 years and has put on about 50 pounds of muscle. He's in great shape. Me on the other hand, I've put on 100 pounds of fat and sometimes it seems weird to be the fat wife of a fit guy. I can't wait to be smaller than him. Or at least his size!

PLASTIC SURGERY CONSULTATION TODAY
How did your consultation go? Did you feel comfortable with your surgeon? I lost about 75 lbs a few years ago and got a neck lift with fat from my stomach transferred to my face and lips. it was the best money I ever spent. Even though i've gained a lot of weight back and i'm about to get the sleeve i still feel way more confident than i did before. good luck to you!

Ideal Protein
Does anyone know if we can have Ideal Protein products post sleeve? I really like some of their items. Especially their Protein shakes.
