It's mandatory to purchase the shakes and all the vitamins plus calcium to get you started. It's 250 dollars. I think it's a rip off personally.

Consider yourself lucky if you don't have to do bowel prep. My doctor never mentioned it either, it was in the pre-op paperwork and the handbook. The day before my surgery its nothing but clear liquids and a big bottle of magnesium citrate for me. That stuff is a super powerful laxative. I'm going to have a busy day....lol.

29 days to go!! I am not scared or nervous,yet. I have had plenty of surgeries before. I am more worried about drinking that nasty magnesium citrate for bowel prep. I have had the lemon flavor before, trust me its not good. Hoping that grape or cherry has a better taste.

I have severe bipolar disorder and anxiety issues. I am well under control with meds. The surgeon I go to accepted a letter from my personal psychiatrist stating that I can make decisions on my own about surgery and that losing weight would benefit my mental state. I didn't have to go thru a psych evaluation. I was approved in a week by my insurance.

I have to purchase a package from the surgeons office that consist of two Bariatric Advantage flavors and two Celebrate shake flavors. Has anyone tried these shakes? I am just looking for some insight.

I feel fortunate that I didn't have to do the 6 month thing. I have no patience what so ever, I would of went insane.

I have been so obsessed that my surgery seems so far away that I didn't even realize that I start my pre-op diet in three weeks. Once June is here its going to creep up fast. I am so excited!!

My hubby and I were talking last night and he wants to have WLS too. He has already been to a seminar in March. I am so excited for him. Heck I am excited that we will both be getting healthy together. Can't wait for him to go his first appointment.

I like GNC Pro Performance naturally unflavored. I make my shakes with 8 oz 0% milk, 1/2 cup unsweetened frozen fruit or a half of a banana. Makes a great smoothie and it doesn't have the strong protein taste or smell.

It think it depends on the surgeon as to whether you are required to have a sleep study. I didn't have one either.

I am not perfect I have indulged a few times. I just try to stay positive and do the best I can.

I have lost about 20 pounds. My surgeon will cancel surgery if you gain weight before hand. So I set a goal for myself to be under 300 on the day of my surgery. I only have a few pounds to go and my surgery isn't for another 33 days. I think I am doing pretty good.

I can totally understand how you feel. I'm not scheduled until the 25th of June. I get kinda bummed when I see all these posts with surgery dates earlier than mine. I will admit I am a little jealous. However, I believe that things happen the way the do for a reason. Try to stay positive and things will work out.

Went to the psychiatrist today and he going to leave me on whole pills unless I start having symptoms of mania again. He said he switch me to liquid medication if I start having problems. I am his first gastric bypass patient, so this should be interesting. He did double my valium because I have been having a lot of anxiety. Wouldn't know why I would have a lot of anxiety, could it be because I am having major life changing surgery in 33 days?

You can get thru this. You have put a lot of hard work into losing the weight you already have. Just think of all positive things that are going to happen after you have the surgery and really start losing weight. No one is perfect, I know I turn to food when I don't need to. I had pizza for dinner tonight instead of my usual required lean cuisine. I thought to myself while eating it, this pizza isn't making me happy like I thought it would. Tonight was probably the last time I will eat pizza for a very long time. Anyway, that being said if you need to talk during the tough times just send me a PM.

We also have to get the vitamins and supplements we will need to take immediately after surgery, and they have to be chewable or liquid form. That cost over $150.00. And I had to switch up some of my regular prescriptions to ones that could either be crushed or in liquid form. And liquid form of my antidepressants was $140.00 vs $20.00. It's been an expensive month with those and all the vitamins and optifast shakes. But I suppose since I won't be eating regular food, I'll save a bit of money, lol. Also, things are more expensive to buy here in Canada vs the USA. I talked to my surgeon he said I could take my bipolar meds whole since they are small. I take abilify I can get a liquid 90 day supply from the mail order pharmacy for 140 dollars. Which isn't to bad without the insurance it would be almost $3000. I am going to talk to my psychiatrist today and see if he wants me to start taking liquid abilify. My fear is my meds won't absord right and I will become manic or depressed. They both suck, I want to prepared and make sure neither happens.

I am diabetic and have PCOS. Believe me the diet they will put you on, you will lose some weight. It may not be a lot but you lose some. I am only required to lose 5% percent of my body weight before surgery. That was 16 pounds. it was easy peazy on their diet. So don't sweat it! You will be just fine. Congrats on your date! My date is the 25th.

My husband will be off work the day of and day after my surgery. I am scheduled to be in the hospital only one night. I am pretty sure I will be all right while he is at work, if not he works two miles from the house.

I have UHC and didn't have to jump thru any major hoops or anything. I didn't have to do a 6 month diet. I tried syntrax shakes and they were disgusting. I am glad I just bought a sample pack and not a whole container. I usually get unflavored gnc pro performance or pure protein French vanilla from sam's. If they have a real strong protein taste and smell, I just can't take it.

I would of had date in May but I had to pay a bill off. The old social security check can only be stretched so far. Our dates will be here before we know it.

Surgery June 25th, pre-op 19th of June

Omg!!!! I thought I was the only one wanting to ride a bike again. I am so excited, I can't wait to pick one out. Getting a bike is one of my first goals.
