  1. Before surgery, I could go a week without washing my hair (I have VERY thick hair), but now after surgery I can only go about 2 days before my hair is so greasy it's gross. Did this happen to anyone else? Anyone know what causes this? I'm assuming lack of nutrients.
  2. I have a UTI 8 weeks post op and am wondering if this is common with surgery? Now I'm worried I have an STD or kidney stones from dehydration...
  3. I was sleeved Dec 3, 2013, almost 8 weeks ago. It's still very hard for me to eat solid Proteins. The only meat I've been able to keep down is tuna (only about 1.5 ounces at a time) and 1 meatball or about 4 bites of meatloaf. Is that normal? Eating slow is so hard for me. Should I force myself to eat 1 ounce of meat once an hour to reach a certain ounce of meat per day? I know this is BAD, but I have been eating only carbs with some Protein in them, like 1 serving of mac and cheese, which I have to force myself to eat, or half of a sweet or baked potato. chips seem to be the easiest thing to eat but I can't eat more than a serving. I do work out, about 3 days a week, cardio for 30-45 min. I cannot stomach Protein shakes anymore, I'd rather not eat. I think my body is in starvation mode since I've only lost about 6 lbs my 2nd month.
  4. Hi, I used Dr. Shillingford and was self pay too. That said, I found out you get what you pay for! Dr. Wizeman operates in the same hospital as Shillingford (I only know that because my horrible, rude, lazy nurse referred to my surgeon as Wizeman every day). My experience with that hospital was horrible. I reviewed my experience in the hospital and insurance section of this site. I hope your experience is much better!
  5. Started my period today, and I couldn't even eat 2 bites of Soup before I thought I was going to throw up. All I've been able to get down today are 3 rice crisps and 8 oz of Water. I can't remember if this happened last month. Is this normal?
  6. I had sex for the first time after surgery (6 weeks post op), but hadn't had sex in about 3 months total. There was blood on the sheets, like I had my full period (which I'm not supposed to get until the 21st.) I continued to spot when I wiped after the bathroom the next day. Again the next day there was a lot of blood during/after sex like I was on my period, but I did not bleed out during the day like a period. Do you guys think this is surgery related or could I be possible spotting from an early period?
  7. Does everyone have to stand up and introduce themselves? I've seen that on tv. Yes, I've been sober for 23 years, 9 months post sleeve surgery. Due to my history I've been very alert to the role my emotions play out with my eating. AA is great, it saved my life, it doesn't cost anything , just a buck in the basket if you can spare it. Lots of support and people to call before you pick up that first drink.
  8. I feel left out - I never got a NUT. Is it because I was self-pay with the cheapest doctor I could find in my area?
  9. I love Rice Crisps Sweet Chili and these crunchy vegetable sticks that taste like potato chips but they're made from spinach, tomato, and potato. I would like to try some new crunchy Snacks, what do you like?
  10. Thank you so much for writing. I wish I could afford to see a therapist but I can't right now. I am most afraid I won't lose any more weight if I continue to drink this much wine every day, but it seems your drinking didn't affect your weight loss. How much did you drink? I have noticed it does affect my memory more than before sleeved. I used to drink hard liquor before the sleeve though, and am afraid to try Vodka or Rum, etc now.
  11. Yes it was a problem before the sleeve, and no I've never been to AA.... Have you? What is AA like?
  12. Has anyone struggled with drinking too much after getting sleeved? My fiancé dumped me right after I was sleeved. Subsequently, I lost my career since he owned the business I worked for and I also have to move in a month. I went 4 weeks with out a drink but then I had wine and tolerated it fine, and have been drinking way too much the past week to mask the pain of everything going on in my life right now. Please private message me if you are...I could use some help here.
  13. the brand doesn't really matter, try skim or low fat. I add splenda and ground cinnamon to mine, sometimes strawberry jelly.
  14. I feel like I'm on a really strict diet....I still can't hold down meats - deli chicken with mayo, tiny pieces of steak in Soup, I regurgitate all meats. I try to avoid carbs like bread, but I had 3 tiny pizza rolls (you know those tiny things you cook in the oven) and they tasted so good, but I know I shouldn't be eating them so not having them again. I haven't tried eggs yet but to be honest the thought makes me gag. I am tired of Soups, burrito fillings, Protein shakes, cottage cheese, hummus... Any new ideas for 5 week post opers?????
  15. Was sleeved 12/3/13. I stalled the 4th week and I think I am done weighing myself for awhile. Today I had: 1 Protein shake about 8 bites of Soup 1 glass of red wine Did the treadmill for 1.5 miles Going to lift biceps and triceps in a few min. Cutting out the wine after today. Really want to lose 15 lbs so I get into the 100s..... feeling discouraged and sad.
  16. My surgery was Dec 3, so about 1 month ago. I lost about 26 lbs the first 3 weeks, and then lost nothing the last week. This week I have lost about 2 lbs so far. I am so afraid I will be a failure with this surgery, and that I won't lose enough, etc, and have to get gastric bypass. Anyone else have this feeling?
  17. Funny, I am almost 4 weeks post op too and also saw a 2 lb gain on the scale!!! It's from drinking wine though....so today I am only having Protein shakes and broth to see if that gives me a big drop.
  18. I'm almost 1 month post op (Dec 3 surgery) and two of my incisions have a stitch that sticks out. They are painful and feel sore. My stitches are dissolvable so wondering why they are not dissolved yet?
  19. Vodka soda water with fresh lemons - 70 calories.
  20. Just wondering, how do you know you have problems with your gallbladder? What does a gallstone feel like? I get some pain where my stomach was removed 4 weeks post op and the fear of it being my gallbladder is in the back of my head. I've never had issues with my gallbladder.
  21. Anyone else have to take Ursodiol 300mg capsules twice a day? I'm almost 4 weeks post op and got prescribed these pills 2 weeks post op. Dr. said they help produce bile so I won't get gallstones.
  22. Sleeved on 12/3/13. 11 days later 12/14/13 I'm down 17 lbs.
  23. Surgery 12/3/13. Today's Date: 12/12/13. Weight lost since surgery: 17 lbs.
