Stalled
I would stop dieting and worrying about what you eat for at least a week. Give your body a break. Then count calories or points or whatever. I think this will shake your body up and get you moving again. Edited to add: You aren't far from goal. This is where it gets hard. Hang in there! Two suggestions: 1. Make a list of all the reasons you decided to get healthier. 2. Make a list of all the positive changes since losing weight.

BCBS and Humana says band is auto decline
Not that I like to be dishonest...but... If we had our surgery and all fills in Mexico, there is no record of our surgery, right?

Successful Band Stories here!
What a great post! I am definitely inspired. I've had my band a little over 4 years. I'm 5'9' and started at 319 with a BMI of 47. During this time I had a healthy baby and he is almost 2. My current BMI is 28 and I weigh 192. I'm very close to my goal of 185-BMI of 27. After that I will lower my goal to 168 which would put me at BMI of 24. I think it might take another 6 months or a year to lose those last 17 pounds. I have had no complications other than some mild reflux which I treated with Tums and not eating within a couple of hours of bed. It went away. I've only had about 5 fills in that time and my last fill from April 2005 is still working very well. I went from a size 26/28 to a 12/14/16 depending on the clothes. A 3X to an XL or L. And I am still losing. I've lost 5 pounds in the past couple of weeks. I also started jogging and am constanly amazed at how I have changed.

To Count Calories or Not to Count Calories....
If I am losing well, I don't tend to count calories. But if I stall, I'll count the calories for a while and analyze what I am eating to find surprise sources of calories.

POLL:How many lbs did you loose...
I have no idea and in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter at all.

How many calories a day do you eat?
Some days 800, some days 1500 or 2000 probably. Just depends on what type of food and how hungry I happen to be.

I'd like to hear from you Lap Band Pros!
After surgery: I was surprised by the pain. I was very, very, very hungry!!! Strong food smells around me (pizza, chocolate chip cookies) made me vomit.

I'm a bad bandster-a badster!
Perhaps some therapy? It sure as heck has helped me.

Books on the subject
The one by Jessie Ahroni is good and specific to the band.

SHARE... what you've learned after Banding
-Patience -That we really can continue to lose for years -That people react to our weight loss in interesting ways -That you can't really lose over 100 pounds without at least a little personality change -That I am kinda cute afterall -How much all that therapy helped me -That I am an adult who controls my own destiny -That I had better surrender to the band or things get ugly -That rigid rules and lack of moderation feel too much like yet another diet -That I like exercise and I love jogging!

Anyone had an adult umbilical hernia?
- Fills for Mexican Patients in D/FW
Previously, several years ago, they were filling patients from Mexico and I drove from Houston to Dallas for fills. Then I didn't need one for a while and about 2 years ago, I think I called them and they wouldn't do it without a copy of the surgical report. Now I just make a weekend of it and drive to Mexico! That Dr. Maese is a cutie, though!!!- Drs Ideal Weightloss
This is bull! I started at 319 and am now down to 192 and still losing steadily. You can get down to your ideal weight or close to it! He's just covering his arse!- Obsession?
I have in the past! You need to find a hobby, get a job, or volunteer-something to take your mind off weightloss for a while.- maxed weight loss
Are you exercising? A lot? This might help. Have you done the plateau busting diet? Would you consider becoming vegan? Or this may be indeed where your weight belongs. What would be so different in 10 pounds? Why is it so significant to you?- My Doc Said...Durrr
Great post. Absolutely true for me also. Don't look for feelings of fullness. Look for the absence of hunger.- How does it feel when you are full?
First, yes the sensation changed the longer I had the band. After having the band almost 4 1/2 years, I think I experience fullness much like a normal person. But here are some signs I am full: -fullness in throat area -runny nose (still get it) These are the main ones. But really what I look for is an absence of hunger. This is what guides me today.- Pigpurple
I've never had any trouble taking pills with the band unless they were those big horse pill vitamins.- Gossip at Work: Vent
Congrats on your banding! Too bad these people have nothing other to do than gossip. Pathetic. As for the person who is mad, I would bring it up and tell them your medical issues are your personal business. Simply none of their business!- No more adjustments
:clap2: I'm glad you posted this. You seem to have a great attitude. I hope people researching surgery and new bandsters see your post. We flaunt the adjustibility of the band over the RNY but there does come a time when we can't get any more adjustments and live with the results. We do have to be able to eat, sleep without reflux and drink! I have about 4 cc in my 9 cc band. I think this is close to the upper limit because I have dealt with reflux issues before it loosened up a bit. Now that's nowhere near full but I know I'm not going up more than 0.5 cc. Good luck and thanks.- Governor Perry-What a liar
F%&^ing A!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My students had to SHARE glasses. This was at a poor school. chips wouldn't pay for their glasses anymore!- Governor Perry-What a liar
I'm there with you! I'm also a teacher in Texas also. You are right about everything. I will be voting for Chris Bell. But don't hold your breath; Perry will win. Texas has gone to hell since Ann Richards left office!- eat 3 times a day vs. 6 times a day.
6 meals or Snacks works best for me. I get full fast but then hungry a couple of hours later. Eating something small every 2-3 hours has really helped me. Constant grazing isn't good for us. And maybe that's what your doc is trying to make sure you avoid. But I think more minimeals will keep your blood sugar stable and you less hungry and happier! - Fills for Mexican Patients in D/FW
