  1. Happy birthday! I'm officially 5 wks and 3 days post op today and thankfully things went pretty well for me overall. Yesterday was my birthday and it was definitely different. My husband took me out to dinner and knowing that I now have a four bite max threshold, majority of my dinner was put in a to go box lol. Food has definitely changed for me now but being that I'm down 26 pounds, I'm not complaining! ?
  2. Hello vsg fam! Just some quick updates. Had my surgery Aug 10th. SW weight was 250 and today I'm at 229. Doc says I'm right in line with his expectations. I'm on stage 3 of my diet (fork soft foods) and I learn each day what my new tummy can and can't handle. I definitely have more energy and I'm feeling more mobile already. If anyone newly sleeved has questions about beginning steps, please feel free to reach out. I've learned alot along my journey and I'm happy to share what to expect and what helped me. Good luck everyone!!
  3. 15 days post op and besides some tummy tenderness pretty much feeling back to normal. One word of advice that I've learned and wanted to share with my fellow vsg-ers, this surgery doesn't fix your brain, it just shrinks your tummy. You will still be hungry and you will still want/crave the crappy food that put us all here in the first place. You have to genuinely be ready to change your overall eating habits to be successful. I'm down 15Ibs but I still find myself making poor decisions. Meeting with my dietician today to see if she can help with meal planning. I've gotta get my head in the right place because this is not an easy fix, just simple a tool to help get you on track. Good luck everyone!!
  4. I'm 4 days post op from vsg. Happy to answer any questions regarding what my experience has been like. Feel free to ask
  5. Two days post op. Not feeling so hot but keeping my eye on the prize! Stomach area feels a little weird. Kinda like a mix between menstrual cramps and gas pains just higher up in my abdomen. Also having some challenges with getting all my fluids in because regardless how slow I sip it still feels like air is getting in. Any recommendations?
  6. I'm 2 days post op and I know exactly what you mean. Minimal nausea and gas pain (thankfully!). Just a lil confused about the uncomfortable pain in my tummy. Almost feels like hungry pains but I don't think that's right. I'm still in the liquid diet phase and jello seems to help.
  7. I made it to the losers bench yesterday
  8. Tomorrow is my big day too! Kinda nervous, more so about the uncertainty of what's to come. But we have to stay focused on the prize. No more high blood pressure, no more pre diabetes, etc. The benefits surely out way the risks! We got this!! See you on the other side, congrats ?
  9. Hope all went well! It's my turn on Monday, 8/10..definitely feeling nervous!! Keep us posted on your progress and congrats
  10. Aug 10th for VSG. Start my two week preop diet tomorrow. I'm self pay so the process has moved along pretty quickly and I'm so grateful to finally be getting my life back! And thankfully, my preop diet isn't to awful so I'm excited and optimistic ?
  11. Just received my date today! August 10th for vsg..nervous and excited at the same time ?
  12. Unfortunately, I'm sad to report that after completing everything including my hospital pre admission testing this morning, I found out this afternoon that my surgery is officially a no go for Monday ...I'm completely devastated and I'm having a hard time coping with my insurance companies "pre-existing clause" denial...how unfair!! Now I have to wait another 8 months before they'll allow me to start the process over again!! Not only have I spent a small fortune on co-pays and non-covered pre-admission testing, but I called them back in August to ensure I was covered and they reassured me I was good to go!! This just seems so unethical that Cigna can get away with this nonsense! Unfortunately, I have an up and coming employment transition taking place soon so I don't anticipate having this coverage in the near future & my new employer may not cover WLS..hopefully my Dr can figure out a way for me to self pay cause I refuse to quit after all this work!! Any support out there? Think I need a little pick me up and positive prayers..I'm so heartbroken!
  13. Well my surgery date is quickly approaching (January 27th) and this pre-op diet is really proving to be a challenge. Tried muscle milk & that stuff is awful! Now moving onto boost & slim fast high protein shakes, wish me luck!
  14. I'm January 27th with Dr Neff at Kennedy in Stratford
  15. I'm January 27th too...at Kennedy Hospital in NJ
  16. Thxs thick'n..I must have just missed u cause I got outta his office today around 5pm lol...but yes, I'm def gonna put my best foot forward & do this! I've come to far to turn back now!! This is the last pack of cigarettes I'm ever going to buy damn it!!! Wish me luck!
  17. But I do have one little issue I'm hoping u guys can give me some advise on....I know it's a terrible habit but I'm having such a hard time quitting smoking I did the Chantix thing, it was terrible! Now I'm using the patch but I still have the urge...any suggestions? I don't want my surgery being cancelled because of my negligence and I really am trying but this is such a stupid, addictive habit! I hate it!!
  18. Hey all, I'm scheduled for January 27th with Dr Neff at Kennedy in Stratford...super excited!!
  19. Just got my date, January 27th with Dr Neff at Kennedy Hospital in Stratford, NJ...super excited!!!
  20. Well I finished my final nut appt today and all of my pre-op appts are officially completed!! Now come on Cigna, let's get this show on the road!! Very excited!
  21. Thanks for the feedback everyone! I really appreciate it! Unfortunately I'm currently going threw some trails & tribulations at work (boss has been treating me like a second class citizen since the day she found out about my surgery) so I really need to try and move forward asap before I resign and change insurance companies. I never realized till now how evil & hostile some ppl are when it comes to this, so sad!!
  22. Made it through my endoscopy today, all clear! Final leg of my journey is to see my nutritionist one last time on Dec 23rd then my surgeon submits everything for approval...soooo excited that the end is near
  23. Hey everyone, quick question. I spoke with Lori at Dr. Neff's office yesterday and since my final appt with the nut is Dec 23rd she requested I call her as soon as I finish that day and she will submit all of my paperwork to Cigna to begin the approval process. Meanwhile, I am scheduled to meet with Dr. Neff on January 2nd to schedule my surgery and she's hoping to have my approval by then. That being the case, how far out do you think my vsg will be scheduled? I'm hoping to have my surgery by the end of January but Lori said they usually schedule about a month to a month & a half out. Just curious if anyone has any insight...thxs!
  24. Dr. Neff is my surgeon as well ...My final nutritionist appt is Dec 23rd then I go back to see him and schedule my surgery date. Super excited! It's been a long journey but it'll be so worth it in the end!! Best of luck everyone!!
