    Hair

What is it that makes you possibly lose hair? Is it the lack of Protein or the lack of Vitamins? I'm 3 months post op and i feel like my hair is falling out. Thoughts? Thank you....

    Hair

Thank you all! I will get some Biotin. I knew about Biotin, but just hadn't gotten it yet. I have really, really, thick hair and usually my hair dresser has to do "thin" my hair at each visit. Im afraid she isn't going to need to do that this time. So, luckily, I don't have any bald spots, but I can certainly tell that my hair isn't as thick as it usually is in some spots and though Im not pulling out clumps, it is coming out more than usual. Can you get Biotin at the pharmacy (CVS, RiteAid...)? Thank you again!

    Protein Snacks

Im looking for some ideas of Snacks that have a high Protein count. What do you carry around with you when you're on the go? What can I keep in my office for during the day (I do have a small fridge). Im not really into Jerky, but am not opposed to it. I do a lot of greek yogurts and cheeses (though cheese doesnt necessarily have a ton of protein it). And, I've kind of od'd on hummus. I just need some quick and easy, protein filled, snack ideas to get me through the day. Thanks so much in advance!

    Protein Snacks

Thank you all so much for your suggestions!!! Im not a big snacker, but it is nice to have something to hold me over in the afternoon so that I don't go home and ravage on the food in the fridge and pantry while waiting for dinner. I just had a fill earlier this week (only .5cc - grrr) and the Dr. told me that if I am getting hungry to go ahead and have a snack - needs to be Protein or have protein. I have a total caloric intake that Im supposed to be hitting each day, but that is because I haven't been hitting it and she thinks that's why I've stalled a little. However, I am still relatively new at all this (banded in November) and trying to find the green zone and what adjustment seems to be right. So, to answer the question - I was told it was ok to snack.

    Day in Food

Hello all! Im pretty new to this. I was banded on November 26th and had my first fill on January 7th (now have 5cc). Right now, Im trying to learn how to eat and what to eat. It's been quite the learning curve but I think Im starting to get the hang of it. Admittedly, I have always eaten too fast and not chewed well enough and, well, we all know how that ends up with a lap band. So, I'm taking the steps to try not to do that to myself anymore. But, Im really trying to figure out is when to eat and what to eat. Im really pushing the Protein and veggies and trying to really cut down on the carbs, but Im having a hard time really "feeling" satisfied/full (I know I don't want to feel full), but Im not really hungry (I realize that makes no sense). I don't want to overeat, but feel like I might be (Im supposed to be eating 1 - 1.5 cups per meal). I, obviously, haven't found that green zone. I sit behind a desk much of the day and do have a refrigerator in my office. I (we) are always on the run to/from kids activities and my work stuff (I work a lot of nights and weekends as well as during the work week). I guess my question is - what is a typical day of eating for you as a banded person? For me, right now, Breakfast is a Chike or Matrix shake and then Im off to work. lunch is boggling for me - yesterday I had ham, cheese and a few veggies (it was a salad, but I didnt eat much of it besides the ham) and a split pea Soup. dinner was a taco and a cheese roll up. Today, same breakfast and then for lunch it was mashed potatoes and a couple of small meat balls (left overs). Dinner will be meatloaf and a veggie... So, what do you enjoy eating - what tips can you give? What do you stock in your office or in your purse for a quick snack in the middle of the day? How do you get the mindset that you don't have to have this huge plate of food in front of you and eat it all? Just searching for and learning at this point...
  7. My surgeon is not thin (not morbidly obese, though either). My husband made a comment after meeting him for the first time that he thought it was weird that the bariatric surgeon is as big as he is.

    7 day post op

Hang in there! I had my 4 week post op appointment the other day and the PA told me that most people don't lose any weight during this stage. So, give yourself a break and just heal. Don't worry about the numbers right now....
  9. Hi all... I've been reading what you all have had to say and so appreciate all of the information that I've read here. You all are great! Im new to all of this. I was banded on November 26 after a 2 week liquid diet. I just finished my 2 week post op liquid diet on Tuesday and am now onto "mushies" for the next 2 weeks. So, my question is - and I know this has been discussed before - I feel like there is a lump in my throat that I cannot get out. It's pretty far down and came on after eating some refried Beans (blended and made smooth). I cannot get rid of this. It doesnt hurt, not preventing me from eating or drinking, but it is very annoying and bothersome. It is also making me burp quit a bit...Is there anyway to get rid of this or do I just have to ride it out? Is this something that I need to call the office about? Thank you all for the advice... Im sure there will be more needed at some point and I hope to be able to repay the information down the road.
