  1. Ft. Lewis Washington. Banded Jan. 30, 2008:thumbup:
  2. A HUGE congrats to you on your amazing weight loss!!
  3. I made the decision not to tell people. I told my mom and my sister but that's it. I had my surgery a year and half ago and I have had terrific success. It has actually helped me to not tell people. I had slow weight loss at first and i didn't need to hear that I was going to fail at another thing. I had the support that I needed and I didn't feel that it was anyones business what I did to lose weight. I personally didn't need the support or negative remarks from people who wouldn't understand it. I am happy about my decision, even today I don't broadcast that I had surgery. I know everyone is different in how they feel about their journey, some need all the support from everyone around them and some, such as myself, didn't need or want it. Good luck and best wishes to all of you!!
  4. I too have a hard time with fruit so I throw them in the blenderwith a little water and make smoothies. It's been the only way I can get a full days worth of fruit in. I do this every morning since I am too tight to eat and it feels good to get something down in the a.m. Good luck to you!!

  7. Nice to see you too took advantage of the nice Seattle weather a few days back. But I too had a problem like that after being banded. I had caught pneumonia 3 wks after being banded and coughed really hard for about 6 weeks. Seems I just couldn't fight the pneumonia and recover all at the same time. Anyways, I would wait a few more days before running off to the hospital. I went to the E.R and basically my surgeon said that I had stretched the muscles out that my port is attached to. It will just take some time for everything to settle into place and sometimes the smallest things can hurt your port site. Hope this helps soom and hopefully we will get rid of all this rain we have had the past couple of days!
  8. The Bender Ball is a small ball that fits in the small of your back and assists you in crunches. It seems to put you in the proper position to maximize your results. Here is the link to the website BENDER BALL :: OFFICIAL WEBSITE
  9. I have been using the Bender Ball for about 6 weeks now and I LOVE it. I thought that it was going to be another gimmick to get you to buy their product. I have to say it was the best $20 I have spent in a long time! I too was under the impression that I was going to have to have a tummy tuck when it was all said and done and now I am beginning to think I may not need it. I love the way it really targets your abs and boy do you feel it! I am working muscles that I totally forgot that I had. I also ordered the buns and thighs DVD and love that one just as much. I am noticing that everything seems to be firming up nicely. Just thought you all would like to know of a great way to get your abs back and possibly avoid a tummy tuck! Good luck to all of you, and we can do this.

  12. I have never heard of problems from eating cabbage or lettuce. I do just fine with both of them. I usually eat a salad about 2-3 times a week, although there are weeks that I just crave them and eat them everyday.

  14. I too am a regular exerciser. I was up to 6 days a week but now that I have gone back to school I had to cut it down to 3-4. I am still losing consistantly, about 1-2lbs a week, so it seems it is still working for me. I do 45 min. on the eliptical and 30 min. on the weights. I am so close to goal that I thought my weight loss would slow but fortunately it has not. I hope to reach my goal weight by my one year anniversary (Jan. 30th), I know I can do this:thumbup:
  15. I have had 8 fills, and I currently have 6.75 in my band. I was up to 7cc's but couldn't keep anything down, including water. So I went back in and had the .25cc's removed. I am still losing around 1.5 to 2 lbs a week. I had my surgery 1-30-08. I feel like I have reached that ever elusive "sweet spot"
  16. My friend and I were banded in Feb. 2008. I have lost 54lbs and she has lost 72 lbs and she is already at goal. I guess what I am trying to say here is that she started taking Xenadrine 7 wks ago and has lost 13 lbs since she started it. Is it safe to take these kinds of pills after being banded? We have both gotten the same amount of fills and we both have the same amount of restriction, yet she started taking these to reach her goal weight faster. My thought on this, is that she should not be taking these, but she swears by them and that they ultimately got her to her goal faster. Any ideas out there about this?

  18. Anyone else out there having issues with fruit? Up until my last fill (6th) I was able to eat ALL fruit. Now I am having a really hard time with grapes and bananas. I suppose I could peel the grapes but really it's almost not worth it. I know that some people will have hard times with fruit that has skin but those were my 2 favorite fruits! So is anyone else having problems with fruit?
  19. As far as bread, pasta and rice go I cannot eat any of it. I didn't try it until I was almost 5 months out and none of it worked for me. I am alright with not being able to eat that stuff since I was a HUGE carb addict before the band. I cannot say that I miss it one bit. I do still eat crackers and those always go well for me.
  20. Congrats to all of you!!!!!!!!

  22. It is a sad but real thing that happens as we lose weight. Friends tend to become very jealous and try to sabotage our efforts. I was banded on 1/30/08 and sad to say but I have lost my best friend over it. I never thought I would have lost her over this, but I did have to say good-bye to the friendship. My health and well being are more important to me than an angry bitter friend. She had gastric bypass in 2004 and lost 145 lbs. She didn't take care of herself and has since regained all the weight. She ate fast food daily and never made the commitment to overcome food. So when I decided to get the lap-band she made fun of me and basically said I would fail. Well since I have done extremely well she became really nasty to me. So I have prepared myself to get rid of any nasty negative people in my life who cannot be supportive. I need to be healthy for myself and my family. Good luck to all of you:biggrin2:
  23. My doctor sent me home with dilaudid. I am allergic to percocet and codeine. It was sent home in pill form and I had no problems taking it. I was in quite a bit of pain the first 4 days due to my port incision becoming infected. I did not have to gas pain that is so common amongst everyone else. I hope everyone has a successful surgery if they have one coming up. I would do it all again in a heartbeat. Good luck everyone!!
