  1. I was starting to think what did I get myself into but its worth it....I still have trouble getting up and sitting down because he cut into my stomach muscle but its getting easier! Do you notice on of your incisions hurts more?? Its the one where they pull your stomach out of. They do must of the 'work' at one incision site. My doctor used just steri strips on all the puncture sites but the bigger one (the aforementioned one) he put a couple dissolvable stitches in. That one bugs me the most. If you have adhesive tape marks lil nail polish remover will get rid of that.. the acetone will melt it off you. My belly is so itchy from the incisions healing.
  2. Try making your own Protein drinks out of Greek yogurt... one cup equals over 20g of protein. Hopefully you are not lactose intolerant. Splenda isn't good for us anyway. Another suggestion... I stumbled upon a product called Hemp Protein High Fiber Powder made by Nutiva (got it at Wegmans grocery store).... you can put that in your shake too (has 11g of protein AND 12g of fiber in 3 tablespoons). P.S. Frozen organic berries, Kale or Spinach in those shakes are GREAT!! If you put greens in your shake I recommend using a dash of cinnamon to cut the bitterness.
  3. Isn't it crazy... day two you feel like there is NO WAY you can imagine tomorrow you could feel better... but you do! I am a week in a half out and everyday I feel better. That's great news. Glad to hear you are feeling better
  4. Thank you! I appreciate that. Good Lord. I am here for encouragement and support not to listen to some accuse me of comparing myself or 'setting myself up for failure' merely b/c I am inquisitive.
  5. THANK YOU! That is all I wanted to know was how other did. I don't expect the same results. It amazes me how wonderfully ppl have done and it also is enlightening to know about ppl's plateaus and stalls. Many of those ppl have posted they eat under 800 calories a day.... it just reinforced what I already know.... I won't lose if I put myself in starvation mode. I really don't appreciate ppl critiquing me by comments implying that I am trying to compare myself to others. I plan to do well regardless. I know all personalities are not going to get along here, its human nature but I can't stand a know it all smart ass.
  6. Honey Dear.... I could give a rats patoot about your opinion about me needing coaching. I am not on here because I need to be educated!! I am an educated medical professional. I know how to read research and articles and find answers to most questions on the web. I come here for either positive encouragement or ideas because despite my knowledge base... I am not a know it all. I simply was curious about weight loss successes. Keep your two cents to yourself when it pertains to me moving forward. Got it?
  7. That is incredible! You rock Thank you BellaDonna!! :-) Why can't everyone answer simply as you did without all the "you are setting yourself up for disappointment" blah blah blah..... I just want some incentive... I am not expecting to have the same results. I am NOT a frikken idiot.
  8. Listen... I am not comparing myself to anyone. I was curious about stats. I don't need a lecture on how not to set myself up for failure and disappointment. Thanks anyway.... this has been enlightening. Blah.
  9. I already know this thanks. I was curious to see what others have lost. I am a reasonably intelligent person... I know that I cannot compare myself to others. Thanks for your feedback.
  10. That is exactly right and lastly ..... research shows that a detoxed liver pre op means less complications post op.
  11. Your are not eating enough calories!!! Your body is in starvation mode and hanging on to every morsel of food you feed it! That is the craziest thing I ever heard! You body burns calories even at rest. It is called, BMR (basal metabolic rate). You are exhausted b/c you are starving!!!
  12. Every surgeon has a plan that works based on their history with the wls programs they run. That means there is a difference what foods each patient can eat and when. Calories and protein are driven by what a patient can eat. While on a liquid diet, I got my 60 grams of protein but only 450 calories. I am now on soft proteins and was told to keep the calorie amount at 600-800. As I add vegetable and fruit at week 10, calories go to 800. At that point I will be at stage 5 and the target is 800-1000 calories, 70-80 grams of protein through the first year before making the needed adjustments for exercise. So far listening to the NUT and surgeon has worked very well. In 7 weeks I have lost 44 pounds. It's not enough nutrients... they set the goal low because early on you simply can't get in that many calories. So your surgeons estimate seem pretty on point and similar to my surgeons.. by stage five you should be taking in more calories (1000-1200). There are people on here still only eating 600 calories 6 months later.
  13. what brand of precooked chicken strips? I have purchased a few and they taste so rubbery and just yucky. Any suggestions?
  14. Thanks Lorie! How did you get the monthly tracker about your ticker?? I want one? I just typed what I wanted into my signature. To get there, click on "My Settings" in your profile and select "Signature". Feel free to use mine for reference if you would like. There is also an option for "MyTickers" in your Profile. Thanks!!!
  15. LOL LOL LOL Bell really NOT laughing at you but with you i also noted that the last post you replied to was from August 2012!!! you sound like a very nice person, responding to others, but............... if all of us replied to every response - OMG, this thread would cross the country and back and back and..........LOL take care keep up your good work kathy I know... I am an idiot. Bhahahhahahaha. I just love reading about others journeys/success/etc. I love this site and I couldn't sleep last night... I read 13 pages of bio's. I am only one week post op.... Im bored, what can I say
  16. my follow up appt was yesterday and I told the P.A that most ppl on here eat anywhere from 600-800 cals a day and she said... no good... maybe right out the gate but she said you should be working toward 1000-1200 cals cuz 600-800 calories puts you in starvation mode. That is probably what is happening. What is this breathing tool? I want to use it!
  17. I had a feeling like I needed to belch every time I tried to sip on anything while in hospital, that continued after a got home a couple days... it improved. I was like a trapped burp more annoying than painful. Try and move about your house a bit if you are up to it. Did your hubby get the GasX... if so, did it help? How you feeling today?
  18. yes my doctor suggested to stock up on it. So yes. I didn't seem to have any gas pains. I am experiencing a pretty good recovery. A kind surgeon will try and decompress your abdomen as much as possible b4 closing you up. I had no problem with gas but I also took GasX to be proactive in case it crept up on me.
  19. Thanks Lorie! How did you get the monthly tracker about your ticker?? I want one?
  20. OMG... I didn't realize how old this thread was!
