Pre op questions:
This forum is great... you won't necessarily 'click' with everyone on here but such is life. It is a GREAT resource. Any questions you have shoot away. For the most part the ppl here are so encouraging and inspiring!!! I had my sleeve Feb 3 so I am by no means an expert but I am freshly post op so my memory of what is soon to come for you has not faded. Try not to worry so much. I am essentially a single mom too and definitely the main bread winner so I was really starting to worry if something went wrong but every time I began to have negative thoughts I remembered how many ppl with children (single and married) have done this and done well. Do your research, ask a lot of questions, read over your post op instructions, know how to advance your diet, have realistic expectations and get excited for this radical transformation.

Pre op questions:
- New to bariatric pal. Just had my first post op checkup
Hi Kathy: I was sleeved the same day. Welcome to the forum!- Pre op lbs lost
Great results so far. You will do very well. Wishing you a smooth and quick recovery.- FitBit?
I have one. I used to take spin class and it didn't pick up the movement while cycling. I bought a Polar watch. It has a heart monitor that syncs to the watch and tells you how much you burn. Its pretty sweet.- Question
My surgeon wrote the Rx for InsureNutrition and now I am waiting to see if my insurance will approve it. I hope so because this stuff isn't cheap.- High Heels....
THANKS Ladies!!!! I am so hopeful! I love wearing high heels. I miss it so much.- High Heels....
Ladies.... Since I put on all this weight, I can no longer support myself in heels. I am wondering if losing a good amount of my excess weight will allow me to walk in heels again?- Question
That a load of shit! Shop around. There are plenty of bariatric protein powders and vitamins out there. Shop around and ask here. I am currently using bariatricfusion but I am waiting to see if my insurance will cover the Protein Shakes. Check out www.insurenutrition.com.- Surgery today!
Don't be nervous. You won't remember a thing and the cruddy part is short lived.- Surgery today!
Best of Luck!- I Want To See Before & After Pics! (Cont'd)
You look FABULOUS> So happy for you. You are a beautiful girl. Every woman should be able to rock a 'little black dress'.- Nausea
Did you get a Rx for an anti-emetic? Like Reglan or Zofran? If not call your surgeon in the am and let them know....they can call you in a Rx. Feel better.- a little concerned
Your electrolytes may be off. Try some gatorade. See if that helps. What you are describing does not sound like a clot sounds more like an electrolyte deficiency. Are you taking your post op Vitamins? When you are laying in bed/couch do some ankle pumps and try to move about as much as tolerated. Feel better.- water guzzling
alrighty then- Starting my first day preop diet
There are 3500 calories in one lb. So over the course of seven days... you can do one of the following 3 things.... 1. Eat 500 calories less per day x 7 days = 3500 calories... one lb lost!!! OR...... 2. Burn an extra 500 calories a day x 7 days (through exercise) 3. Eat 250 calories less per day and burn an extra 250 calories per day x 7 days You got this! Good luck.- Endocrinologist question
That seems like duplication of services? Why can't they just get your consent to get your records from your current endocrinologist?? Or have you make and appointment with him? Doesn't make sense. I would definitely seek clarification on this matter. Maybe your surgeon overlooked that you currently have one.- water guzzling
I am only two weeks post op and they told me sips but I can and I do take several swallows of water at a time with no problem. I am damn thirsty! Is it possible to stretch your sleeve? If so, gingerly drink... no race horse chugging.- 5 month update with pics.
That is great! What a huge transformation in such a short time. Congrats. Whatever you are doing, keep it up! I bet you are thrilled!!!!!!!- Catheter for surgery?
Really shocked at how many ppl were cath'ed. Current medical trend is not to. Just increases risk of infection (UTI) and insurances will not cover hospital acquired UTI's anymore. Anyway.. cath or no cath... I don't think you should worry. It isn't pleasant to have one but it certainly is not unbearable. In fact, I asked to be cathed day after surgery. I knew I had urinary retention and the fact my bladder was so distended was causing me to have more stomach pain. I told the nurse what I suspected and he grabbed the bladder scanner and sure enough I have 850cc's of urine in my bladder. He called and got an order to insert a catheter and I was feeling great after. They took it out the next day before I was discharged.- Pain swallowing even liquid 5wks out
acute severe pain warrants a call to your doctor. That is not normal.- Wow! 10 lbs. In 8 Days.....
Ten lbs that is great! I have to be out of the 200 Club by summer! - New to bariatric pal. Just had my first post op checkup
