  1. My surgeon used to do 2 full weeks and now it is only 10... 10 should be fine. I was also allowed one half cup non-starchy veggies per day. That is enough time to detox your liver.
  2. Glad to hear. I'm almost to the other side! Lol. You will do great! Does your surgeon use drain tubes? I am wishing you the type of recovery I just had. Stay positive. I never once second guessed or worried something would go wrong. Will nothing but a smooth recovery your way and it will be!!
  3. How are you feeling BellaDonna? I know you had surgery recently. OMG... I feel really good thanks for asking. No pain, tolerating full liquids just some gas (trapped upper GI gas).
  4. its a hard diet to follow pre op... much easier post op. Definitely not hungry.
  5. you may just have more internal swelling than others. Continue to take small sips as to not get dehydrated. Put two scoops of Protein powder in one shake to double up the protein. 'So Delicious' makes an unsweetened almond milk that has 5x the amount of protein. Get yourself some of that to make your shakes. Keep us posted. Small sips.. every 15 minutes. Slow and steady wins the race.
  6. I had a few minor slip ups. My surgeon said my liver was fine during surgery. Try to stay on track til the big day now. Good luck.
  7. just look at it like you are getting a total overhaul and tune up. You will be all good in no time no worries!!! Minor set back but its good to fix this cardiac problem now before something happens.
  8. I am four days post op... I think any block would have worn off by now. No?
  9. Yolanda...33lbs in 5 weeks is beyond awesome! What was your pre op weight if you don't mind me asking?
  10. Hi There! Can you tell me where you purchase the biotin that dissolves under your tongue? The ones I currently have are horse pills. Thanks in advance.
  11. Good to know. Thanks. I am starting to think the stomach spasms are hunger pangs.... don't like them at all.
  12. I am trying to sip as slow as they recommend in the literature but the shakes go down way too easy I hope I am not damaging my sleeve.
  13. you're welcome! I thought the information in this link was much more easy to follow than the handouts I received at my pre op nutrition class.
  14. I rarely add sugar to anything... I was mainly referring to the Jello and puddings which have been sitting in the fridge since before surgery. I been getting in my Protein shakes, greek yogurt and some cream Soups. All going down very well minus the gurgling and sensation that I need to belch.
  15. I got gasX and I been taking it religiously every 6 hours but I haven't had any lower gas just the upper gurgling which is like a trapped belch that won't come out. It is not painful mostly just annoying.
  16. Ok so I understand sugar free = less calories but that stuff (aspartame, splenda...whatever) is not good for you. If VSG does not produce 'dumping syndrome' the way Bypass does, is it really imperative to follow a sugar free diet? It is not like we are taking in a ton of calories at this point. I do not have a sweet tooth so these items I am consuming during this post op phase (pudding/popsicles etc.) that are a major staple of our diet will be short lived for me once I graduate to pureed and solid foods. Please advise. As always.. thank you for your feedback.

  18. I know.. I almost felt bad posting this but I am almost worried I was doing so well. I did not feel any restriction with drinking fluids at all and the more I am reading up about it the most I understand that the restriction comes more with solid food. My best friend who had bypass nearly four years ago came over last night and was floored at how great I was doing....she said she it took her a week to feel that well. I really am so grateful because I do not have a ton of help other than my sons dad who hasn't left our side since the night before surgery. I do not like being dependent on anyone so being incapacitated too long was a great concern for me.
  19. I had the procedure laproscopically. Not sore at all. First two nights it felt uncomfortable to lay on my left side... now I have no problem with positioning.
  20. I have a 3 yr old son. I am not sore at all. No pain what-so-ever. I honestly do not feel l just had major abdominal surgery. It is so freaky. I have to keep reminding myself and I am not hungry at all.
  21. I had my sleeve done Monday and came home yesterday afternoon. Tuesday was not fun. Lots of stomach spasming. Today I feel like I didn't even have surgery. Able to drink without any problems. I had two Protein shakes today, yogurt, a little Soup and a good amount of Water. The only thing is the gurgling sound in my upper airway...throat and belly. I feel super blessed but I am amazed at how good I feel. Has anyone else felt like they were back to normal this soon post op?
  22. Ok ladies and Gents... Walmart Natrol brand Extra Strength Biotin 10,000 mcg 100 pills for 7.97! BAM! That is a 90 day supply.
  23. Ok... Dollar General has a better deal. Its half the price of GNC. Ten dollars for 120 tabs of 3000mcg (that is two bottles). The thing that sucks is you have to take 3 tabs and they are pretty big. I am going to research to see if there are smaller tabs with higher strength. I will provide feedback if I find something better.
