2 months out--ACID ugh
I have been taking tums... they seem to work great! I am 2.5 mos post op and get acid reflux abiut 3-4 times a week.
-
What's the postop rule you absolutely follow?
The rules I have been most apt to stick to would be the 30 20 30 rule and the small portions rule. I cannot eat and drink within 30 minutes of eachother and I cannot have more than 3-4 bited per meal without having to throw it back up. I am almost 3 months post op.

8 weeks out, random pains.. help?
I had my surgery on 11/20/13 I am an 18 yo guy starting weight 387 CW is 326 and I have been getting sharp stomach pains (not hunger) and random pains under the left side of my ribcage (where my liver is I believe) and just an all around tightness randomly throughout the day. I don't regret this surgery, I am very happy with the results so far, I just want to know if anyone else is dealing with this kind of stuff and how long it took to feel less pain.

Will I be sipping forever?
Im 22 days out and I can take normal drinks like every 30 seconds when I'm really thirsty. I hate not being able to chug water but honestly, being thin is much better than chugging. Haha

Exercises For 3 Weeks Post Op?
I had my surgery 11/20/13 and have already lost over 30lbs... I am starting to notice my belly hang a bit and get little dimples... what can I do to tighten my skin in that are that isn't too strenuous since I am barely starting to not feel any pain? I'm 18 by the way so I was told my skin would be more elastic and bounce back... haha

My Surgery Is At 1Pm Today!
I would recommend you bring baby wipes, chapstick, your phone and charger, and maybe something to read.. You won't be drinking and shakes while in the hospital. They gave me ice chips whenever I wanted & my few meals a day (if I could handle them) those were pudding/gravy/cream of wheat cups. Try to walk as much as you can in the hospital! Also, if you feel nauseous it might be the morphine. Thats what was making me vomit.. BEST OF LUCK!!!!

Nov 2013 Sleevers Progress So Far...
I had my surgery 11 days ago on the 20th of November and I still can see a bit of swelling in my upper stomach area. The pants are falling off of me, my lower stomach is shrinking, but the upper part by my ribs is still puffy... I think its just the last bit of gas that needs to escape. Lol.

I have been sipping on water and protein shakes and have been doing fine! I am already down 6lbs in just 3 days also! I cannot wait to see how much further this will take me! The Official What You Will Need For Your Upcoming Weightloss Surgery Thread!
I took my phone, my charger, chapstick (A MUST), baby wipes, tissues, a few water bottles... And that's pretty much it. I got a puke cup and extra pillows from my hospital nurses who were VERY nice and helpful.

Things I will NOT miss about being fat.
10 things I won't miss about being fat: 1.) Not being able to ride carnival rides 2.) Not being able to walk on the beach unless I'm in a shirt and shorts to cover my fat 3.) Not being able to fit in restaurant booths too well 4.) Not being able to play football or soccer with my friends because I feel too fat 5.) Having to pull my shirt down constantly because I feel like its stuck in my fat rolls 6.) Having to buy ugly plain clothes that are not what I really want to wear 7.) Having to atand behind people in pictures because I feel too big to be in the front 8.) Having to double check every picture someone has taken of me to make sure they didn't get my 'fat side' 9.) Not being able to run around in the park with my niece 10.) Constantly being frowned upon for being overweight and not able to get the jobs I want because I don't looksl good enough.. There we go! I am only 3 days out, (sleeved on 11/20/13) but I can already feel the change happening! I'm an 18yo boy and I just want to move on with my life!!!

Good News, Bad News
That's so weird because my surgeon pretty much told me that the sleeve was my best bet.. I would ask him if there is any special diet you can do to help your kidney get a little healthier before surgery... I am thrilled with the sleeve, although I am only 3 days out... I would push it on him! I don't see how rearranging your intestines would be easier than just cutting out your stomach... The bypass is also malabsorptive (sp?) So I don't see how you could get all of the nutrients you need to stay healthy... Please keep us posted on your progress!! ♥Adam
