Breaking the bank??
You can read my web site http://www.tracyslapband.com for info about surgery in Mexico. I am in the process of creating a sleeve page with an FAQ but in the mean time, I found someone who already has some great info at www.sleeveguide.com Good luck on your journey and just know you are not alone in your frustrations!

When did your fills really start to work for you?
Total of 4 fills (all with flouro). First one was 2.0 CC's. Could see restriction on the x-ray and feel it immediately. Second fill was .5 cc's, same thing, immediate restriction but went away after 3 or 4 weeks. 3rd fill was .5 cc's again (now up to 3 cc's) and had great restriction but noticed a tightening around that time of the month, 4th fill just last week, immediate restricted sensations like prolonged gurgling when drinking, full after 1/2 to 1 cup of solids, I stay full for 4 to 5 hrs. I am glad I am one of the ones that can feel restriction right away. Otherwise it would be so frustrating to have to wait! The key really is to know whether or not you have restriction and get a fill accordingly. My doctor was really good about giving me a fill when I thought I needed one. He went by what I was saying and feeling which is a good thing. :thumb::clap2:

Has Anyone had surgery by Dr. Alberto Aceves?
Hey, I just found this thread. I don't come over here very often. (Maybe I should!) :-) I had my surgery with Dr. Aceves on March 1st. So far I have lost 74lbs!! I started at 280 and I am now at 206. I have a website which details my experience with Dr. Aceves and also has photo's of my journey to Mexicali. It is at http://www.tracyslapband.com You can click on "Mexico Experience" to read about my journey. Nina is truly awesome and so is Dr. Aceves. I wish you luck with whoever you choose! Tracy

Depressed about not wearing plus sizes
I really tried hard not to go clothes shopping but the thing is, you need to have something to wear to work! So I tried to stick to clearance racks as far as tops, and I made my jeans last that I had. I don't wear dresses (at least I don't now but WILL when I get closer to goal). I did buy stretchy elastic waist pants for post op time (something I normally wouldn't wear just because I don't have the right waist line). Goodwill is another place you can try.

Depressed about not wearing plus sizes
I can understand the sadness in a way. For some of us, we have been overweight for 10, 20, 30 or more years. It is sometimes hard for us to let go of something that has been a part of our lives for so long. For me, I will probably cry when I give away, sell, or throw away my "fat" clothes. I will remember things like "Oh, I wore that when I graduated college" or " I was wearing that when my son played his best game". But I am a sentimental freak. And to the person that said they go to Lane Bryant even though they can't wear the clothes....I LOVE IT!! But the MAIN thing I would like to do when I get down close to my goal is go into the famous lingerie store-victoria secret- walk up to this skinny saleslady that told me "you must be looking for another store" when I went in there looking for a present for a friend- and say "What do you think now- Beee-utch". LOL

Starting solids and no more weight loss!!
I had my surgery on March 1st and I am still on liquids although I get to add certain mushy things like cottage cheese, and yogurt and just today I get to eat mushed squash. I am still losing and wont be eating anything solid for another 2 weeks. My surgeon, Dr. Aceves, is pretty strict for the post op diet but I think it is because he really wants to be sure the stomach is completely healed before introducing solids. I am thankful that I am not hungry. I drink CIB in the morning, then have a yogurt for snack. Lunch is 1 cup of soup. Snack is jello or maybe another CIB. Then Dinner is another cup of soup, with fruit or yogurt or cottage cheese as a snack. I know it depends on the person because I just posted on OH that I thought I might be eating too much compared to some post op just as many days as me. However, I can't wait to get my first fill sometime in mid April because I am noticing I am not staying full as long as before, and everyday I think I can drink or eat a little bit more. BUt I am still losing. So I guess I didn't give you any advice but maybe something to compare too. If you are not losing after eating solids, you may need to track what you are eating on fitday.com to make sure you aren't getting in too many calories. But it could just be that your body is in shock like everyone else is saying.
