  1. Well, I am with you. Today is the first day of my pre-op hell.My whole family has been warned that I am grouchy. I too realize this is only temporarily, but I know this is going to be a lllooonnnggg week. My date is on the 20th and it can't get here fast enough so I don't have to endure the hunger. This will make us stronger, right? new2tch
  2. I was told by my nutritionist to use toddler sippy cups for liquids and don't drink from a straw because of the air intake. However, isn't easier to control the amount of liquid to use a straw versus a sippy cup? What do you think? I have school inservice the week of my banding and I would like to attend since I am a new teacher. I am nervous how my band and I are going to react that first week out. new2tch
  3. I am glad to hear that the pre-op liquids gets easier as time goes on. I am concerned about the stress it will be not to have real food. I too am excited and nervous about have this procedure. I really want this to work. Thanks to all who post positive thoughts of encouragement. new2tch
  4. I am to be banded on August 20th. 5 days until preop liquids.... new2tch
  5. Hi Lorid, Have you had your gallbladder checked out? I experienced similar pains years ago and it was my gall bladder and then it was removed. I have never had a problem since. This is just a thought. I hope all is well with you, you have done so well with the band. I wish you the best of luck. new2tch
  6. Thanks Cindy D. for the response and thanks for giving me info on the liver. To be honest with you I have been involved about learning about the stomache that I did not consider the liver and where it is. Now I understand why the doctor wants the liver to shrink. I am going to look for the Optifast and give it a try. The Protein content is good. new2tch
  7. December 3,1959. Waiting to banded Aug 20th. 7 days until pre-band liquids...I refuse to remain overweight anymore! new2tch
  8. I have 2 questions for your Cindy D. How much Protein is in the Opti? Why do you think you have a headache? I was wondering if liquids only will produce headaches. I was just curious. New2tch
  9. Thank you for a very informative post. I am glad to learn that the food tolerance of the band changes over time and that everyone is different. I too will live and learn when I am banded. new2tch
  10. Hi There, I am the same age as you and I was wondering how do manage to take in your calorie amount. Is it difficult to take in that much food and protein as well? I am also worried I won't get in as much exercise as you fit into your schedule, I barely make it to the treadmill now. I have a tenative date for banding on Aug. 20th. Thanks for sharing your experience. New2Tch
  11. Hi ! Thank you Sue11 for responding. I was wondering your "mocha" drink is it homemade or do you purchase it? I am excited about going through with this procedure, but I am concerned how I am going to handle the desire to want food I can't or should not have. I am trying to "renew" my mind to want to eat healthy and exercise. I have all the reasons to want to change, it is my brain I am fighting with.:car: new2tch
  12. Hi There, I will be banded August 20th and I know I will start with the Clear liquids. How do you handle the fact that you cannot enjoy food they way you used to? Also, do people use toddlers sippy cup to drink from? And, can people tolerate some coffee in the morning? Thanks for answering my questions. new2tch
  13. Hi All, I will be banded on August 20th. I am looking forward to the proceedure. My doctor is Dr. Forgione in Burlington, Vermont. I am on the CIGNA health plan. (which has not been the best of support). I am married with three sons 24, 19, and 14. I graduated from college this past Dec, with a degree in elementary education. I am 47 years and will beginning my first full time teaching job the week of my surgery. How will I do it? One step at a time. I will sign my teacher's contract today and inform them of my pending surgery. Thanks for having me on board. I am sure I will be asking questions along the way. new2tch
