  1. Ditto on reheated meat. It just tastes yuck most of the time to me. Hopefully repurposed will be different though, since I just made a couple turkey soups. Turkey congee (without the rice), and turkey and chorizo.
  2. Caffeine can interfere with the absorbtion of calcium, and the high acidity can be damaging to a healing stomach. That said, my surgeon allows it with the following caveats: 1) I don't drink it with my vitamins; 2) Not more than a 2 cups a day; 3) It doesn't count towards my fluid intake, so I still need 8+ glasses of water a day.
  3. I have the exact opposite since surgery. I have very little to no smell. It's equally weird. Do you think possibly the smell is amplified due to surgery? I've always had trouble with strong smells, but there are some things I just can't stand smelling at all sometimes since surgery. Protein powder smell, seafood smell, any food at all after I've just eaten.
  4. Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I'm going through that depression phase.
  5. I'm down only 40lbs. At this point, I have stalled for an equal amount of time to when I have lost weight, and it is getting seriously frustrating. I have so much further to go, qnd had hoped to be a good 20-30lbs ahead of where I am now. This morning was the first time I really broke down crying about it all. After washing my hair and seeing so much hair come out again, I really started to think that it isn't worth it for 40lbs. I hope I can feel better about it soon, but I feel like I have no control over any of this.
  6. I cannot stand constipation! So far what has worked ok for me is a daily probiotic and 2 generic still softeners from Walmart. I don't know what I'll do if those stop working. May we all find relief.
  7. Sign me up for the Slow Losers Club. I'm 11 weeks out and 40lbs down. I stall every few pounds it seems. Was hoping to be closer to the 75lb mark by now (I started at 376). It seems, much as before surgery, I have no control over my weight loss. And I'm figuring out how to still feel successful knowing that.
  8. WOW I am now losing gobs of hair when I shampoo and have strands all over my clothes throughout the day. I get 80-100 grams of protein a day and take my vitamins, so it can't be lack of doing what I am supposed to. I read that hairloss comes also from the anesthesia from surgery, so I will guess that is what is going on. And this is supposed to go on months 3-6. I'm going to try some new hair colors while it lasts, then maybe cut it all off and start over again. I just did that 2 years ago, but oh well what can I do?
  9. Made it up 7 flights of stairs to work this morning. Geat way to start the day. Can't believe I'm saying that lol.
  10. Totally with you on the baggy butt and legs of the pants, as well as the hair loss. My hair is everywhere it feels like! Yikes. I do have a lot, but am definitely going to start showing the loss at some point soon. Ah well. I made it up 7 flights of stairs to work this morning and would have never been able to do that before even with all that pretty hair lol
  11. Pork chop and sweet potato. I of course foolishly tried to eat too much and now feel the yuck.
  12. I'm on my second major one of going on 3 weeks. We just have to keep on going, enjoying life.
  13. Lamb saag (lamb pieces with spinach, spices, and cream).
  14. Boca burger patty with sharp cheddar.
  15. Frankly, I'm not doing a very good job of it. I need to be measured and size down. If it were just band size, I'd imagine there is a way to add a row of hooks in, but cuo size is affected as well.
  16. Test. This is the only way I have figured out how to get to the end; write a post.
  17. Finally broke down and got some new clothes tonight. Size 22/24. Two months ago I was a 30/32. And I look SO MUCH SMALLER in clothes that fit! It's also been years since I have been able to find more than a tshirt in a brick-n-mortar store that fit and looked nice on me. I almost went overboard lol.
  18. I was wrong, it's World According to Eggface. Here's the recipe: http://theworldaccor...bake-stuff.html I'm adding jalepenos, some habanero jack cheese I found, and probably a cup of cottage cheese.
  19. Making the taco chicken bake from the Bariatric Foodie tonight. Sounds so good right now.
  20. I got my first "You've lost a lot of weight!" remark at work today. YAY!
  21. Decided to meet my protein goal with some brie tonight. Probably should stay away from cheese the rest of the week now lol.
