  1. Can we take Nyquil or other cough medicine post-op? What has been others' experience?
  2. I'm 6 weeks and have been feeling the same lately. There are only a few specific things I car for right now and they are mainly cheese related lol. It's been a little tough to force myself to eat anything else. I'm sure it's a phase we'll get past.
  3. For the first time sibce surgery I am starting to have some trouble eating. For a few days I was really busy helping care for a friend, and I wasn't eating as often or the foods I would normally eat. Now it seems I can only get in a few bites before I just lose all desire to eat and I'm having a hard time even forcing myself. I know I'll get through this, but do you think a few days off from meeting my protein goals will hurt me in the long run? I've previously been between between 80-90g a day, but I've only been making 50-60 the past few days. I kind of feel like taking a break and not forcing myself for a bit.
  4. Tomorrow marks 6 weeks and the end of restrictions! I am so taking a bath or hottub dip! On to water aerobics and weight lifting. Gotta get these chicken wings pumping.
  5. Smoked salmon. And some no sugar added tapioca pudding.
  6. I do have moments of panic where I think, "What did I do to myself? Am I going to lose as much as I want? What if it doesn't work? What if I gain the weight back?" But in between those times, I feel absolutely at peace with where I am at. Like my brain has blocked all thoughts of weight matters. It's odd.
  7. Call your surgeon. Even if they just say to be careful and come in if you have any symptoms of a blockage, it is still way worth it to call. Even after hours. Go for it.
  8. Pretty high in fat, which causes trouble for some. I wouldn't risk having a whole tub of it around. I know I'd be too tempted to eat more than I should.
  9. Doing well except for the constipation. Last I checked I had lost 25lbs since surgery on Aug 26th, but that was almost a week ago. Being able to fit into some of the clothes I wasn't before is absolutely fabulous! I haven't had problems with anything I have tried so far (and I've been adventurous!). Though I have only tries very small amounts (a few bites), it doesn't seem like I will have a problem with sweets. Not a good thing really, but then it is nice to have a taste and I eat nowhere near what I did before. Next week I am finally off restrictions and I get to go back in the water w00t w00t!
  10. Half a chicken pepperoni stick and some ricotta.
  11. Fresh cooked then chopped spinach, yay or nay? I haven't tried any green veggies yet. But I'd like to use this inside my chicken meatballs.
  12. The same happened to me with Cigna. I had to go get a surgical clearance from my PCP, which was basically like a physical with some blood drawn. And that did the trick. Good luck to you!
  13. Goulash (minus the potatoes)
  14. It was covered for mine. I was out 3 weeks, and only had to use one week of PTO. The process was pretty much painless too. Good luck to you!
  15. Try the Warrior brand of protein powder. It's vegan, and the only vegan/veg one my NUT said was ok (she was concerned about vegan protein not having all of the amino acids needed). I liked the taste ok, but so far all of the vegan/veg protein powders I have tried so far have been more chalky. Flavor-wise though, they don't have that icky chemically smell that the whey proteins tend to have.
  16. This was one of the first things I thought to look forwatd to lol. Not there yet, but can't wait!
  17. With every new food I have tried, I start out with 1/4c. Then if it does well the next time I may have a few bites more.
  18. HW: 406 SW: 376 CW: 356 I hit the 50lb mark, w00t w00t!!!
  19. I asked about cucumbers when I moved to soft foods. The dietician said yes as long as there is no peel and seeds removed. I love mine with some kalamata olives in greek yogurt.
  20. Egg curry perhaps. I feel like spices. Must be the cold.
  21. I was wrong. Yesterday was my 1 month surgiversary. I guess I've lost concept of time during recovery. HW: 406 SW: 376 CW: 356 So 20lbs the first month. I can live with that. And I am officially at 50lvs total weight loss. Not bad.
