Hello all. I had my pulmonary function test a few weeks ago and just like the other posts it was no biggie, for me anyway. Just like some of you, I had myself nervous and it wind up being no big deal, a little tiresome at times. For one I have been a smoker for many years and that worried me but I passed with flying colors, thank god! Mine was much like the previous posts. I was placed in a glass box, looked like a telephone booth, it had a chair, mouthpiece and all kinds of tubes coming in and out of it. I had to do several different breathing tests, most of it was done with the door open, some were done with the door closed, I believe that is when they changed the air pressure. It was a lot of breathing in and out, shallow and very deeply, panting, holding your breathing, and completely emptying your lungs. A lot of deep breaths in, and blowing it out until they tell you to stop. They also did a asthma test on me as well, which I am happy to say I don't have. The whole test took about a hour. You will all do just fine, I am sure! It looks more scary than what it really is. Best of luck, keep us posted on how you make out!! :-)
