    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hi all- Wow- we are all at around 10 months. What a lifechanging 10 months it has been!! I hit 164- and have since been bouncing between 164 and 168. Granted, I have not been paying ANY attention to my Protein, calories....etc. I am blessed I havent started gaining. Anyway, I feel like its time to re-motivate myself (thus here I am!!). I want to thank you al for sharing your stories and where you are at. It is an amazing help to me!!! Want to hear something that is weird, and kind of sucks? I have never been one to have a sweet tooth. My problem was always with the carbs. Anyway- I CRAVE sugar now. Anything sweet, including yummi yummi taffy and smarties. WTH?? I havent had a piece of candy for 10 years until the last few months. Ugh. Anyway- started with a Protein shake this morning. High protein, low calorie. Yay! Go team, Go!!!

    please tell me the truth

I have a slice of pizza now and then. HOWEVER- I have it because my "old brain", and my tastebuds remember how great it tastes. When it goes down, OMG it feels terrible! I dont dump on pizza, but its just this uncomfortable, crampy, YUCK feeling. Makes it a not-very-appealing craving anymore!!!
  3. I am 10 months out, and there are only a handful of people who know. I would not change a thing- and I am really happy with my decision not to share!!!

    What if this is it?

I read somewhere that bariatric weight loss is like a flight of stairs- most of the time is spent on the flat part- then DROP- then back to flat. I know the last 10 months have been that way for me. Just dont let yourself get discouraged, because if you do what you need to do, those drops will continue to come (eventually). Hugs!

    Help

That is what my pouch feels like when I am on the verge of dumping. I have found that if I stop immediately, I wont dump, but if I keep going....I'm done for! We are all so different though, listen to your body and if its too bad, call your doc!

what foods YOU cannot eat anymore?

I am 7 months out of surgery. The biggest heartbreak is that I cannot eat tortillas. Actually- any type of bread I can only tolerate tiny bits. Also, most gravy's and sauces do not sit too well. A big one is beef- bad news. Even ground beef that has very low fat is bad bad bad. Ooooh....and tater tots- wont do that again!!!! Unfortunately I can eat sweets. On the flipside, I can eat large amounts of salad and vege's.

Hi all...I have been making terrible decisions. Im stuck going between 168 and 172. I was so excited, because I was able to buy size 9/10 jeans, and a medium shirt. These last 15-20 pounds are going to take a lot more effort and dedication. I need to find a way to re-motivate myself again.
  8. I had such a hard time with the Protein too. There was one flavor of the Isopure that I could barely stomach- it is the red one, but yeah the aftertaste is nasty. I had to not breathe out of my nose after I drank it. I just started amping up my protein- I had egg or chicken everytime I ate and my labs all came out good. Good luck- it does get easier as you can eat more regularly.

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hi all- it has been a long time since I checked in. Its funny to look back on the last six (almost) months, and see how much my life has changed. I am down 70 lbs, and went from a tight size 20,to a comfortable size 12. I only weigh once a week, and it has slowed down so much. I spent the better part of 2 months bouncing around in the 170's, before I finally hit 169 lol. Going out to eat is probably still the hardest thing to do- to find something I can eat that is not a total waste of money for the amount of food I get. I stick with chicken or salad usually. I still have a hard time with beef- ground or any other kind. It just makes my stomach hurt- you know that kind of different yuck hurt that I never felt before this surgery. Sometimes I feel it after just one bite lol. It sure makes me look at food in a different way. My downfall???? CANDY!!! I have never in my life craved sweets- until now. And the bad part??? It doesn't make me sick. Bad bad bad. Especially the yummy malted robin eggs that are out for Easter right now. Oh, I have true empathy now for people who crave sweets. Anyway....hugs to everyone who has been on this journey with me. ...Chelle

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hi all.....I think I let myself get too comfortable with food. I stopped keeping track of anything, and ate whatever I wanted just in small amounts. Pfft bad idea. Not only did my weight loss stop- but I feel awful! My pouch hurts all the time, I am tired (lack of Protein I think....), and just feel 'yucky' all the time. I really need to embrace this lifestyle change thing....it IS a lifestyle change....not just a short term diet. Anyway, drinking my Isopure protein today, ate my greek yogurt for b-fast and a salad for lunch. Back on the wagon. Happy day everyone!!

Sooo excited! Today I have less to lose than I have already lost!
  14. Hi all- Just wondering if anybody has had crazy bruising as you lose weight? I realize there is not as much padding there....but this seems crazy. I am 2 months out, and last night I was sleeping on my left side, and woke up because my thigh hurt- well I turned over and thought it was just my "new found bones"- and this morning I have crazy bruises up and down my entire thigh. I would feel a lot better if I were not the only one..... Thanks

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

Hi all....I appreciate you all checking in! I will post mine. My surgery date was 10/21- I am down 46lbs. However- I have been at this weight for about 3 weeks now, in fact I gained a couple of pounds in that time. I honestly don't know how that happened. I have been terrible about both my Protein and my Water, and perhaps that is why I haven't been losing. The last couple of days I have been trying to do better in those areas. I can eat pretty much anything- the only thing I have found that was awful is Indian food and popcorn. I haven't tried any sugary sweets or anything yet...which is a good thing. I have found that I LOVE the Baja salads at Wendy's lol. Its funny because I can eat quite a bit more than in the beginning- I can probably eat 1/2 cup of Soup now. Solid meat- much less. I am trying not to be discouraged about the stall, and I think if I keep with the program I will continue to lose.

    Frickin Stalls!

Im stalled at 193- and I wonder if I will stay here forever sometimes. I think its totally normal to get frustrated when the weight slows and stalls- REGARDLESS of how much we may know that it will happen. Back to drinking more Water..... Hugs!!
  17. I had a fantastic NSV. I have a 15 year old son, and he is at the age where it is just a huge ordeal to hug his mom. Anyway, the other day I "made" him hug me, and he stood back and said that he has never been able to put his arms around me and hug me that close. He said.....your smaller than me now mom! So happy!!!!
  18. Hi all.... So at 4 1/2 weeks out, I should be doing great. I'm really not. My stomach hurts almost all the time, I have no energy, and doing anything for any length of time makes me sick and....well kind of like I have been run over by a truck. On the upside I have gone from a starting weight of 239 to 194 this morning. I just dont know if it was worth it....not that I can do anything about it now. But, I did this so that I could have a more active life. Instead I can't seem to do anything for any length of time. Im so discouraged, and getting really down. Am I the only one who wasnt back to normal? Any suggestions? Thanks...
  19. Thank you so much everyone, it makes such a difference hearing from you that have had the surgery!!!! The last couple of days have been surprisingly better. Hugs!!
  20. Hi all.... I was just wondering what your 'hungry' feeling is now that you have had surgery- and what your 'full' feeling is? Im having a hard time recognizing the feelings....but this is where Im at: I think my hungry feeling is this sick pain- kind of like I either need to vomit or lay down. I think my full feeling is kind of like an elephant sitting on my ribcage.
  21. Im anxious to hear what your doctor tells you..... I understand all of the information about your body being in shock, transition....but I bet this is terribly frustrating for you- regardless of the reason. Keep your chin up my friend!!! ...Chelle

    OMG October 2013 Post-ops

It has been quiet here! Well I'm certainly not a ray of sunshine...but here goes anyway. Here is my update from my 10/21 surgery. I hate this! I get worn out soooo easily, I have had a stall- which sucks, head hunger sucks, and my pouch seems to hurt all the time. Im wondering if pain is my new "Im hungry" feeling. And funny joke on me- not a dang thing I can do about it....I chose to twist and tangle my insides so I cant even blow the program without getting terribly sick. Yes- I DO need an attitude adjustment!!! I just want to feel like myself again. I hope and pray everyone is having a better experience than I am. ...Chelle

Hi all....just wanted to share my anxiety. I was sooooo hungry tonight- and we stopped at Subway to get my son a sandwich. Now....Im only on 'soft foods', but I bought myself a sandwich. I only had three bites- no bread- just chicken and some vegetables. I wasnt supposed to eat raw vegetables and I am hoping and praying I don't get sick. Wish me luck.
