  1. I went to bed really early during all my pre op diet to avoid intense hunger and cravings. Worked well for me.
  2. I'm doing well. About to walk. I'm sitting in a chair waiting on nurse to help me walk. They are a little concerned since my pulse is fast. Everything else is fine and pain hasn't been too bad since they started the pump. When I initially woke up in recovery I was miserable. Pain was intense and I threw up. That was awful but since they started phernagan I've been fine. Just sleeping a lot. I wish they'd hurry up and let me walk so I can get back to sleep.
  3. Luckily they have listened to me so far. Nurse tried once and didn't get it so she said she'd let anesthesia do it. She bruised me on that one try but at least she didn't try multiple times.
  4. Thanks everybody! So nervous. Sitting in my holding room - they are going to have anesthesia start my IV later since nurse didn't get it. She had a hard time just getting some blood. Already bruising. They said I should be in OR at 9 or 9:30 and its 8:05 so nearly time.
  5. I leave for the hospital in an hour. So nervous my stomach is in knots. Had a nightmare that I woke up and they'd had to do my surgery open rather than lap.
  6. Thank you! I'm very nervous and of course having nothing but Clear liquids isn't helping. Not to mention the wonderful magnesium citrate I have to drink in a few hours.
  7. I have my bypass tomorrow and I'm more nervous about this than anything. Last time I had surgery they stuck me 7 times trying to get IV and I was awake the whole time for that. I talked to anesthesiologist last Friday to warn her. I hope they took me seriously and bring in the professional to start with.
  8. Yes they require us to eat these meal replacements- 4 a day. My body has apparently decided we don't want these anymore and is making me so nauseous when I try. I feel like I'm barely eating because I can't stomach those any longer. Trying to keep to foods that aren't bad when I don't eat the replacements- green veggies (surgeon allows these in unlimited supply), chicken broth, Jello, and popsicles. I can also have 4 oz of very lean meat a day so that's been helping. Though lately since I'm hardly eating I have eaten a bit more than 4 oz of meat just to get some calories in. I am probably getting like 500-800 calories a day. I can tell I'm dropping some weight.
  9. Ok so my surgeon makes us buy these prepackaged meals for the 2 week diet. Bars, puddings, Soups, and shakes. I did ok the first week apart from hunger. The soups quickly got to where I couldn't eat them so I used broth instead. Now I have bad diarrhea- worse than last week. All the food is making me nauseous. I tried eating dinner and could only manage a couple bites and felt sick. I am so hungry it's physically painful and anything I do eat comes back out as liquid pretty quickly. I am miserable. I am hungrier than I think I've ever been and can't really eat because I feel sick. I'm about to go try a couple sugar free Popsicles and hoping I can handle those. Though I wouldn't call those dinner. One week till surgery.
  10. According to my surgeon that's soft food stage not purée. Purée shouldn't need to be chewed- runny mashed potatoes, soups, applesauce, etc... I can't have soft foods which are things that can be mashed with a fork until weeks 3-4 post.
  11. Consider yourself lucky. I'm on day 6 of my 14 day pre-op diet. Eat something for me please. Sooooooo hungry
  12. I have 12 days left and I'm feeling the same. Preop diet has me wanting real food so badly. I am tired of being so hungry. Not to mention the food they have me eating tastes awful! Also diet has me running to the bathroom constantly. So not fun! I just have to keep reminding myself this is worth it.
  13. I think it's normal. I'm scheduled may 30th and am on day 3 of pre op diet. I am really hating it. I'm dreaming about food! It's so very hard and I feel like crying right now. We just have to focus on the end result. We are worth this!
  14. Love the analogy! I agree.... very rude. Until they've been in our shoes they have no right to judge.
  15. It really depends on your insurance company. Mine only wanted a psych eval. You can see the timeline in my signature- only took about 2 months for me. But I know if you need a 6 month diet or something it can take a while. I was very lucky despite my high out of pocket. I was approved on first try.
  16. Joy? Any updates on the appeal? Been wondering how things are going?
  17. My surgeon straight up told me that if you have 100+ pounds to lose he doesn't recommend the band as average weight loss is only about 50 pounds. Since I've been in this process I have seen many on here that had terrible complications with the band since it's a foreign object in your body. Do your research- it might be right for you but it definately wasn't the choice for me.
  18. My first visit (after the seminar) was pretty easy. He explained to me the procedure (though with all my research I could tell him how to do it). Weighed me, asked about health problems I have, took blood pressure, they looked at my stomach to make sure I was good for lap surgery, and checked me out in general. Whole thing only took about an hour.
  19. They constantly try to feed us at work..... I just refused an ice cream sandwich! Talk about willpower!
  20. So my family made enchiladas for dinner last night... I thought I was going to kill them. I made my Protein soup- pretty gross and ate it in another room. Then went and took a shower so I wouldn't be anywhere near the kitchen while they ate. Had a couple sugar free popsicles and went to bed very early... so I wouldn't go raid the kitchen. Woke up with a terrible headache but the tylenol I took seems to have helped. I've already taken myself off NSAIDs and so far the tylenol isn't too bad. I've always used Advil in the past. So it seems that when they eat I'm going to do something else to keep out of the way. They don't need to loose any weight and they have to eat so I'm trying not to get upset about it but those enchiladas looked so good.
  21. I haven't told anyone except very close family and friends- no one at work and most of my relatives have no idea! I don't think I'll have a problem with them knowing afterwards but I didn't want to deal with these issues you are having. Not sure how else you can deal with these issues if they are really bothering you but to just tell them they can either be supportive or be quiet- none of them have walked in your shoes and have no idea how hard everyday is! I totally understand- I am in pain every single day! My feet are always swollen and painful to the touch, I can't walk far as my back hurts, and my knees hurt, etc..... I haven't been to an amusement part in years as last time I went I was asked to leave a ride because they couldn't find an extender belt. We are here for you and we all understand what you are/have been going through. Keep your head up and your eye on the prize! A longer healthier life where you can actually do the things you've been missing out on!
  22. Congrats! It will be here before you know it!
