I'm pre op & I'm trying out protein shakes. I feel so full by drinking 8oz of milk and one scoop of protein powder. How much were you able to actually drink after surgery?

The process wouldn't take longer if that's all your insurance company requires. The only requirement I had added by my surgeon other than what my insurance required was for me to quit smoking 3 months before surgery. I think if you are really uncomfortable with your surgeon, it may be good to look into the other surgeon. You need to feel confident in your surgeon or you will think every pain is something that he did wrong.

I have two very hyper mini dachshunds and they are constantly climbing all over me. My one weenie dog, Gigi, loves to just pounce on my stomach and start licking my face and most of the time it's highly unexpected. I just don't want her to jump on me and hurt something. I don't have the ability to take them somewhere for the first week after surgery. I feel more stressed out about my fur babies than I do about surgery!! I can't be the only one that had this fear?!!?!? Lol

I was thinking the same thing. Might as well get a mini vaca to "explore". I've just seen a lot of people saying they didn't take very much time and I didn't want to be a weenie haha

How long until you started feeling well?

I have short term disability and I am able to take the full 6 weeks and I wanted to just because I wanted to make sure I was able to focus. I just do medical billing and people aren't always the most friendly when dealing with their medical bills. I've just heard you get extremely emotional after the surgery too, which is not normal for me. Haha I just want to make sure I don't have a breakdown on the phone with a patient hahaha. Seems silly saying that now.

I'm curious to see how long everyone took off of work for the surgery. Did anyone take the full 6 weeks?

I just called my insurance... I'm approved for surgery!

Ahh thanks so much for responding! my primary submitted my medical history and a letter to consider also. Hopefully only a week of brutally waiting then! Haha

I have completed all of my steps that needed to be done before surgery and this was submitted to my insurance (BC/BS Of IL) on Tuesday (yesterday) morning. Maybe I'm just oober anxious. But, I'm just curious how long it usually takes for approval to come back for those of you who already have theirs?
