  3. Clt I would be curious to know the answer about meds for gall stones... I actually asked and the nurse said most people end up getting it removed because of the low fat diet .... I'm like just take it out when your in there... They said thy will only take it out if there's a problem they can see .... Be sure to give us an update... Because if there's a med ....I would rather take it than go through all the pain and possible surgery. Sent from my iPhone using RNYTalk

  8. Hey there Jayla, I'm feeling great.... Everything went smooth.. I am really excited about that because all previous surgeries have been a disaster . Went home on the morning of the 3rd day... No pain meds since morning of the 2nd day. Thanks for asking ! What about you ...what did you have done and when? And how are things going for you since the surgery? I'm only 4 days post opt so I still have a whole lot to learn. Nice to talk to someone local .... This board has been a great help to me without it I think I would have been totally ignorant to things that could have happened. And lots of helpful info on what to expect ... It's amazing how the medical staff leaves so much stuff out that is important... I told mine that they should have someone thats at least been through it to help you with questions instead you get some life long skinny person that can't relate ...sorry just rambling ..great to meet you
  9. Hello Virginians.....I am from Virginia Beach... I had my surgery at Portsmonth Naval Hospital... Just wanted to say hello

  14. I have Tri care prime.....called PCM asked for a referral and was approved within 5days....made my first appointment for orientation which is the mandatory first step...this was scheduled on oct 25th 2012.... Next day did labs,X-ray and EKG ....then was given a paper with steps to follow. Step one physic evaluation...step two nutritionist ..... If you pass those two steps then step three is decision appointment with surgeon. Decide what type of surgery would be best for you. That day I received surgery date. One final appointment two weeks before surgery for weigh in to make sure you haven't gained any weight....if you do you have to wait 6 months and start the steps over. At final weigh given instructions for two week liquid diet....... Then show up on surgery date. My journey began October 25th 2012......Surgery day march 27th 2013... So 5 months for me....hardest part was getting appointments that worked with my schedule.... That added some time.....I will have follow up appointment and lab work for the next 5 years...but the will start 2 weeks and progress to just once every 6 months. I am fortunate to live in Virginia at the largest military installation,,,,,, so my surgery and all follow up will be done at the naval hospital. Hope this info helps with any of y'all that have Tri care prime. The cost of my surgery was zero. The only cost have been shakes for liquid diet and vitamins. Found most at the exchange and commissary .....so I have been very blessed. Good luck to all and God best.
  15. Walk walk walk..... I had surgery on Wednesday ...all advice was to walk ......I logged a lot of miles walking ... Resting ... And sipping ...I haven't had any problem with gas so far..... The other two women slept all day.... so it made me feel good to get out of the room so I wasn't disturbing them.... I came home today still alittle sore but feeling really good... How are you feeling?
  16. Hello everyone Surgery was Wednesday morning at 8am....had the RNY .... Everything went great......one day in step down and one day in regular room... Both leak tests were perfect...Going home in morning....YEA! For me.... I didn't chicken out....moved over to the looser's side...... 19. Hello fabulous February .... I just wanted to say hello....and intro myself to the board I have surgery on Feb 27th....read a lot of the post opt stories.. Lots of good info....some scary as hell.... I'm the 1% that will go wrong person. Every major surgery that I had something had gone terribly wrong.... But I am trying to optimistic...but have had a few meltdowns... Been on shakes for 11 days... Lost 10 pounds so far ....total since stated journey in October of 33 lbs. actually feel great but depressed because of the worrying of the surgery. Look forward to hopefully making some new friends here to talk to.... Thanks again for all the great info and the support y'all put out there.... This group is real... Tell you like it is .... No holding back .... I like that.... Nothing sugar coated... Love to hear from some of y'all ... Thanks MaryAnn
