  1. 12 more days until surgery(3/5) and I'm on my 3rd day of Optfast shakes, they have become tolerable, I have no choice anyways and I'm drinking plenty of water(ocean spray). I have lost a total of 7lbs. I know it's only water weight but I'll take anything! Did my pre-op blood work and ekg yesterday, hoping everything comes out ok, especially thyroid levels. Getting a little more nervous as the days pass by and surgery gets closer.
  2. I'm on my 3rd day of shakes, it has gotten better and I'm drinking plenty of water(ocean spray). I weighed myself today and have lost of total of 7lbs, of course it's only water weight, but I'll take it!

  4. I feel the same. Don't know if I can do this. I don't know why my dr doesn't allow veggies and broth at least. I have to drink 5 chalky shakes that leave an awful after taste in my mouth, lots of Water and sugar free Jello. Of all 3 Optifast I kinda prefer the chocolate right out the freezer. Unfortunately it's the least I purchased
  5. I'm sooo hungry! lol....tasted all 3 Optifast shakes and the least one that t I purchased is the one I like the most, chocolate, especially if it's really really cold(out the freezer). Either way, they all have a chaulky taste and cause a terrible after taste...Uuugh!
  6. I just started mine today. Got all 3 flavors but haven't tried the chocolate. I'm soooo hungry and they taste nasty! lol Unfortunately we have to suck it up )
  7. Sitting here at my pre-op and ready to get my opti fast shakes. Did my last big meal last night and I'm going to miss it Don't know how I am going to survive these two weeks :o/
  8. I start mine tomorrow too and just ate my last churrasco meat, white rice & black beans but I don't feel guilty at all! lol
  9. I have my pre-op appt this Tuesday(19th), a pre-op class and have to purchase my opti fast shakes. I am nervous as it's getting closer and closer but I'm so ready for this. Has anyone been taking vitamins prior to surgery?
  10. Me too! I don't know how I'm' going to do it, but I know I have too. My problem is how will I stop drinking coke?!?
  11. I'm March 5th and have my pre-op appt on 2/19 and will also begin the liquid diet
  12. Congrats! I found out today my surgery date and I too have to go to 3 hour pre-op class Feb 19th.
  13. Just found out today...March 5th
  14. Congrats on your upcoming surgery! He is expecting me back by March 20th, that would be 2 weeks post-op but that's because someone else I have to cover for is going on vacation, You would think with 8 other employees there he would ask them to cover! And I work in a hospital!
  15. March 5th! And I start drinking those "yummy" shakes on 2/19. Asked for 2 weeks off and boss almost had an attack even though he has known about this since last year. He even got upset because I told him I needed to go to the education class, which is 3 hours and also do blood work, I also get my shakes that day. Has anyone had a boss who has given them a hard time in a situation like this?....I don't care, I'm just happy I'm all set!
  16. Congrats! I'm actually sitting at my pre-op appt. now. Waiting for a date!
  17. Thank u Nicole! I am hoping this will also be the case for me. We're you're levels under control with meds before your surgery?
  18. Hi everyone, I am a newbie that was just approved for rny this past Thursday I am going to see the nurse practioner and patient advocate for surgery date tomorrow and all this is hitting me now! I did the 6 months nutritionist visits and I was already convinced that my insurance would deny me as I only lost about 6lbs during those 6 months. Now I'm cocerned about my thyroid delaying my surgery as I am hypothryoid and my levels have never been under control. Everytime I go to my pcp she says it's out of control and I am already at 300mcg synthroid! I am worried that even after surgery my thyroid will prevent me from losing the weight I want. I'm assuming the visit with the nurse practioner would be to discuss the pre-ops? I already did blood work, the phys. evaluation, ugi and 6 months nutritionist, so I'm assuming more blood work? Cardio was not requested. I'm also assuming the Dr. has a date of 2/26 because when I called AETNA to get status thats the date the Dr. had listed I am so ready for this. I'm anxious, excited but at the same time nervous about surgery.
