June 2007 Bandsters
Beckie - I'm sorry to hear about your BF's mom passing. I was just notified that a dear friend suddenly passed away yesterday. I understand how you are feeling and the eating thing. I am absolutely NOT hungry, but I want to eat so bad I can't hardly stand it. Why does food help shove down the feelings? HUGS and prayers to you, your BF and his family. Gen

awwwe 2bemeagain - you are such a blessing to me and everyone on here. Thank you for the sweet comment. I truly understand where you are coming from. I have become so much more critical of myself than before. Before, all I saw was that I was fat. Now, I see all the parts that went squishy, or droopy, or the wrinkles that have appeared now that they are no longer filled out with fat, etc. I know God isn't done with me yet and I keep remembering what someone posted on here. "Pray for God to show you the REAL you in the mirror". I don't always ask to see the real me, I'm not entirely sure I can handle it  This band has been such a blessing to my life, health, marriage, everything!! I thank God every day for this gift - even when I'm not happy with the latest bulge that I'm obsessed with HUGS and Prayers for all Gen (wombat)

Awwe crap  I TVO'd it and hadn't watched it yet. I will be watching it tonight to see their transformations!! I am so happy a woman won!!!!! I preferred Ali over Kelly's whining so that makes me happy! I think the slug-ex had too many issues and probably didn't lose any more weight. He needs counseling as much as the diet/exercise help. Happy Wednesday Y'all!!! Gen (wombat)

Anyone wear skirts now but didn't before??
Yep!!! Me too!!! I bought a mini skirt - I know i'm too old, but hear me out. I'm only 5'0" tall so it comes to the top of my knees - nothing mini about that  I have bought 3 dresses now. My DH wants me to dress down now, more casual, because he says he can't keep up with me (we work together).

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
WTG Niki!!!! That is fabulous and you really have the speed going too!! I love this program!!!! Jeez - if it can get my dead butt off the couch and jogging, then it has to be good! Update: I am still working on speed. I did my 30 min today at 4.5 the entire 29 min and 6.0 for the last min. There's just no way I'm going to get in 3miles in 30 minutes. I don't think it's possible for me to run 6.0 for 30 min. Maybe I should work on just adding time?

Biggest Loser
Georgia - I remember hearing about a previous bipasser being on the show since they had gained the weight back. I don't know if it ever was shown or not. I love Ali!!!! She looks so good!! I've thought about taking a week off of work, and just working out like a mad-woman the entire week. Would that let me lose 11-15 pounds like they all did in the last week?!?!?! Anyone considered doing that? I don't even know at what point I should eat more calories to be able to make it through the workouts. Ah well - it will stay a distant thought for now Woohoo - tomorrow's the final show!!! Gen (wombat)

Couch to 5K Anyone want to start with me ?
Yea Whosya!!!!!! You're first Marathon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And, IN THE SNOW!!!! You deserve a MEDAL!!!!!! How long was the run? How many miles? I'm still doing my 30min 3x a week now . I'm working on speed. I am still feeling a bit lost now that it's all "over". I did get an email at work that they are going to start an outdoors jogging club 3x week at lunch. I don't know if I can keep up but I'm going to give it a try. I know there are several guys that run because they are always doing marathons/triathalons. Anyway, I'm keeping myself busy with cardio classes at work, and my jogging. Soon, I'll be adding weight training. I have GOT to start toning up what's left of me!!!!!!

Will I be the one for whom the band doesn't work?
I, too, had the same thoughts!!!! I just KNEW I was going to be the one that it wouldn't work for! You can certainly do this. There are times when your body will stop or slow down. Just keep doing what you know you are supposed to do - Bandster Rules! My other piece of advice: go for fills when you need to; if you can eat more than you think you should or if you get hungry between meals - make an appointment!!!! Even a tiny fill can do WONDERS! Feeling bad because you ate too much or gained a pound should NOT keep you from going to the doc! That is what the band is ALL ABOUT!!! THANK GOD FOR MY BAND!!! HUGS to you! Gen (wombat)

How much weight can you really lose? How fast?
Yep - doc told me 60% of excess weight. There are many of us that have surpassed that. I think the 60% is the easiest part to lose because it doesn't seem to take a great deal of effort. Now, I need to be more mindful of what I eat, and I have to exercise in order to lose weight. Before, I could eat just about anything and lose weight just due to the reduced quantity of food Good luck to you! Gen (wombat)

39forever: I lost most of my weight in the first 6 months. I tried to eat around 800 calories. Some days less, some days more. Some consider that really low. I couldn't lose weight if I ate over 1,000 calories. I also didn't do any exercise during this time (lazy - I guess). I'm also only 5ft tall so I really don't require as many calories! I've lost 19# since January 1st and it's fighting coming off now. I now exercise (cardio) at least 3x week. I'm going to start lifting weights now to strengthen. I know that in the beginning I was wanting to drop the weight FAST!!! This isn't the bypass where that is going to happen  If you can lose 2# a week - count your blessings!! That would get you the 10#month goal that most docs say you can lose. With all that being said - this experience is so different for each person. Your starting weight, age, height, or if you are male/female is all going to play a role. :scared2: What I DO know: This site is God sent! The support on here is phenomenal!!! Stay on here - read, post, question, rant & cry, whatever you need to help you through this process!! {{HUGS}} Gen (wombat)

Advice needed! Lipodissolve? Tummy Tuck??
Hello Kitty!! I hope you get your answer as well!! I've been researching alternative procedures to a tummytuck - which is out of reach for me right now. I'm considering Thermage to tighten skin, but I also saw that the Lipodissolve is lipo combined with the collagen treatment so that the skin tightens as well over the next couple of months. Anyone out there had Lipodissolve? Gen(wombat)

welcome DBOWERS!!!! 39FOREVER - YES!! We all (most) can eat whatever we want to before we find good restriction. Up until your first fill, it is supposed to be more about healing than losing weight. Self-control, will-power, and GOD will get you through that tough time. Once you start getting fills, your restriction will increase. I could feel restriction with my first fill - be warned, it doesn't always stick around for long. I was getting a fill every month for the first 4 months because when I would get hungry, or could eat too much, then I went right back to the doc. Some docs won't fill you if you still lose weight - I fuss at them and tell them it's only due to will-power and I'M RUNNING OUT - fill 'er up!!!! You will do fabulously - give your self some time to retrain your eating habits {{hugs}} & Prayers, Gen (wombat)
