  1. Thanks Karen (is it that obvious I'm avoiding the doc?) No I'm not on blood pressure medicine. I have 1 cup of coffee in the mornings - I'm fine with giving that up if I need to. I've never been a big drinker of anything so it's really difficult for me to get liquids in. I've been nursing my current bottle of gatorade since 12:00 and I have about an inch left. (it's only 20 oz) I guess I'm going to call and make an appointment. My biggest fear - is that they tell me to gain weight or to stop losing weight. Gen
  2. This site is such a wealth of experience and information so I'm coming to y'all :biggrin2: My blood pressure has been dropping like crazy. At my highest I had fabulous blood pressure 120/80. After 6 months it was 100/65. I would get a little lightheaded but I could cope and no longer just pop out of bed. Yesterday, my blood pressure was 80/45. I'm dizzy and light headed quite a bit now. I can't just get up out of my chair without being extremely careful. I get dizzy if I roll over in bed. Sitting on the couch - slightly reclined I get dizzy and can't focus on my computer. I've come close to passing out during exercise but haven't (yet). At 6 months the doc just told me to eat more salt ( woohooo!!). I eat lots of salt! I'm trying to be better about drinking fluids and make sure I actually get Gatorade for working out rather than just Water. Does anyone else have these issues? What are you doing to help? Gen (wombat)
  3. I too wonder when enough is enough. I'm in a size 8 but still have plenty of fat on me. I've discovered that I am apparently small boned - who knew  I can still grab a handfull of fat (big handful - not one of those pesky pinch a 1/2 inch kind of things). Maybe a size 6 is perfection - maybe it's a 4. I can't comprehend being a size 4 but I think a 6 is doable for my size. Losing my additional pounds should take me down at least one size. I'm getting lots of skinny comments - but in reality I'm not. Good luck Mandyjo on finding your perfect spot!! Gen (wombat)
  4. Yep - love the 80's but I've never heard of this one either. My mom was pretty picky about what we could watch on tv - drove me nuts. I was never allowed to watch MTV! grrrr I had the big hair :tt2: The bigger the better - especially in TX!!
  5. today: did the 5k treck again with my jogging group. Walked a bit more of it this time. DH went with me and started getting shin splints. We are off the the jogging store to get properly fitted for shoes. Maybe that will fix his issues - and I need all the help I can get :tt2:
  6. You guys are wonderful :tt2: Thank you for all your prayers - my spirits are lifting! I know God is in control and He always wants the best for us. Candy - you are so right. This next week and half is volunteer week at my company. They give us a bunch of choices and allow us 32 hours of free time to go and volunteer. I'm going to a food pantry one day, going to cook and serve at a Ronald McDonald house, and do an afternoon at the SPCA. Serving others always helps put things into perspective! Coltorismom - I've been praying for you today for your surgery! Please let us know how you are doing when you can. God be with you.
  7. Woooohoooo 300 :tt2:
  8. Phyl - you are so sweet :glare: I don't have a counselor - just my Christian friends. I've spent a good part of the day in prayer, tears, and listening to praise music. The fog is lifting - there is always Hope for those who are in Christ Jesus. My DH just scheduled a long weekend away for us so that certainly won't hurt! :Dancing_biggrin: HUGS Gen
  9. Pleasantlake and NeverB4 - y'all have touched my heart. Thank you!!! I'm in a funk right now. I was talking with DH this morning and we are both in it at the same place. Which stinks - he can't help pull me out!! I have lost my motivation to do just about everything! I only willingly go to church, cook/plan dinner, and play/practice my clarinet in the band. Work, my volunteering with the band boosters, school - everything else - not so much. Right now I would quit them all if I could. Exercise is falling somewhere in the middle. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I don't know what to do. The last time I was depressed was because of medicine; not the case this time. This is just something I've never experienced and I don't know how to fix it. I feel really lost and alone. Any suggestions you guys have, bring 'em on!! HUGS and prayers! Gen (wombat)
  10. Hi all :tongue_smilie: I'm in North Texas (McKinney). This thread never really caught on for some reason. Glad to see it moving now! I've been on the fence cause I guess I'll have to leave to another group when I turn 40. I feel for all you guys on the pre-op. My doc didn't require it either.
  11. I voted no as well. I do, however, have a mini skirt that I have worn. I'm only 5'0" tall so it comes to my knees. Nothing mini about that. I really won't go any shorter than that. I buy long shorts as well. I do have some that are a little shorter but I'm not comfortable wearing those out yet. Oh - and no DH is no help. He's wanting to buy me leathers to get on his motorcycle. I think he wants to show me off way more than I do.
  12. HUGS for all my fellow Christian Bandsters :rolleyes2: This thread has been amazingly quiet but I know that life can get a little harried at times. Know that you have been prayed for and BE BLESSED today!! Gen (wombat)
  13. That last 30 is tough. I'm doing extra workout; trying to go back to "carefully" watching what I eat. I had it pretty easy until this last 30 pounds. I didn't exercise and I still ate whatever I wanted. Now, I'm having to work for it!! shake your body up - do something different :rolleyes2: I can say - as I get closer, when I see the scale move, I can see the difference in the mirror. 1 pound shows more now than it did before. Good luck!!! and HUGS wombat
  14. Ohh - BigBaby - can't wait to see the reveal!!! I hadn't really thought about it. I get emotional thinking about where I was a year ago and how I felt. I think I'm going to ditch the kids and take a nice weekend away with DH and maybe do a tad of shopping :rolleyes2: We'll have to create a 1-yr pic thread!! HUGS junies!! Gen (wombat)
  15. Today was the first day of the "Outdoors Jogging Club" at work. Surprise surprise, I was the only girl there. We ran 5k today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I went way faster than I'm used to. They tried slowing down and I tried to speed up a tad. We were running 11min miles. I did think I was going to die though! I had to walk a tad at the end. I have now gone farther and faster than ever before. I'm exhausted but excited. I just couldn't let the guys leave me behind (I didn't think I was competitive) I'm planning on doing this Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (glutton for punishment). I'm on the lookout now to sign up for a 5K!!!! Ceradad - come on here so we can encourage you!!! You have done amazing work so far! You put me to shame how much you can work out, lift, cardio, etc. I am in awe :rolleyes2:
  16. Ah Suzzzie - the "curse". I can completely relate!!!! I'm just coming off of mine and I've been a tad cranky - especially since I can't have MIDOL anymore!!!!!!! There are times when I watch my family eat. I see the huge bites or how fast they are wolfing it down and it truly makes me nauseous! Then, very sad because I know I used to do the same thing. My fill is tight so I'm still getting used to it (going on 2 months now) so I sometimes look at the food and almost cry because I want more, I know I NEED more but I just can't do it. Back to the "curse" - mine has caused me nothing but grief since I was 12. It has adjusted the schedule to invade every important event in my life. (some were a good thing). All dances in high school, prom, college trips, wedding night, trip to Australia (this one really hacked me off, I couldn't go snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef because of it), every wedding anniversary, birthdays, my first cruise, and any other vacation/trip I've been on. I truly have the CURSE!! I even try mapping it out before scheduling a trip - my body just adjusts to make sure it can make an appearance. TMI, huh?
  17. Oh Stef - I'm sorry you are having to go through this!! I'll be praying that you heal successfully! With all the changes you've made to your lifestyle and your new found love of exercising, it would not surprise me at all that you have conquered the food demons! {{HUGS}} to you! Gen
  18. awesome pictures - the ride through Lancaster looks really pretty (except for the hills!) Hope you didn't get any damage from these storms. Again, it didn't do much at my place but it was every where else around us; we had a lot of rain, wind, and a tiny bit of hail.
  19. I never had much luck with cats either I love my puppies though!!! I have a sheltie that is the biggest sissy ever, I have a maltese/pomeranian mix that is just a bratty little boy, and I have a pekingnese that I adopted last year when I volunteered at the SPCA. I would have more if DH would let me!!!! I'll have to get DH to send me pictures so I can upload my other "babies"!!
  20. Hey Suzzzie I voted for your kitties - too cute!!!! More storms in the area tonight - yuck!
  21. coltorismom - welcome!!!! One slip up shouldn't hurt you. I think the docs know that it happens on the pre-op. All you can do is your best to give you the best chances during the surgery. I think everyone gets nervous :tt1: I know I did. I was waiting for my surgery - waiting in that lovely gown - and still having doubts. God quieted my fears and calmed my spirit. He can do the same for you - just ask :tt2: I have marked my calendar for you and will pray for you!! God Bless! Gen
  22. welcome back Pleasantlake!! Congrats on the 40#!!!!!!!! I thank God every day for my band - what a gift of my life back!
  23. Awwwwe - now you made me cry  Thank you for those beautiful words. I believe that God certainly blesses those who do the work for the benefit of others. My dear son (15) wants to be a police officer. It breaks my heart to consider the possibilities but I would never stop him. Hey LULU!!!! Ok - the cardio chick totally kicked my butt today - for an hour!!!!!!! I told her I hated her at least 3 times. I thought I was going to pass out twice (hag) She never even stopped to do stomach and other stuff. grrrrr (ok - done whining - I'm still trying to recover lol)
  24. Ok - better late than never right? May I join as well? Pleaaaase??? (don't make me beg - it's not pretty) Ceradad - I think it's awesome that you are a police officer!!!! My dad was too (killed in the line of duty) so I have a special place in my heart for all the work you guys do!! (even if you are all a bunch of pervs lol) Today: jogging - 30min at 4.6, sprint 1min at 6.0 cardio class at lunch for 60 min (God she's gonna kick my butt again with all the lunges, pushups and squats crap) Gen(wombat)
  25. Hugs and Prayers for you Erika!! You must give yourself this first month as a time to heal. My port site was very sore for a long time. A lot of what you are probably feeling is the tugging of the muscle getting used to the stitches holding it in place. Definitely uncomfortable, even can be quite a bit painful depending on how you move. I think most people start to question why I couldn't have just done this on my own. I know this is a gift from God!! I know that I could not have lost this weight without this special gift and WITH God's help along the way. This thread especially and this site are truly a blessing! The information, support and encouragement we can get here is priceless. Anytime you get down, or confused, or mad, or anything - get on here, post it, question, rant, cry - whatever you need to help you get through it!! We are all here for you! Gen
