This has been my experience. I was overweight by 80 lbs but had co-morbidities that made me eligible. Anyway, I'm 4 months out today & I've lost at most 2.5 each week. I don't think I've ever had a 5 lb weight loss in one week. I agree that your body is on shock & it just takes time for it to catch up. The weight will come off & everyone is so different you can't base your numbers by others. I know you'll get past this little hump soon.

I agree, I think it's normal. I also agree increasing protein & water can help. I was also told that your body is going through so many changes that it might take a while for your body to catch up. Then one day you'll be like, where did it all go!!!

Hi! I don't want to discourage you at all cause everyone is so different. I'm a type 2 diabetic & have been one for about 10 years. The idea of getting rid of my diabetes was a big factor in me having GB. I'm 4 months out & still have to take insulin. I've been told since I've had it for so long it might just take longer for it to go away or it may never... I'm very glad that I'm only on 1 injection, instead of 2. I also no longer have to take 4 different pills for my diabetes. So, with that said there's a possibility it won't go away before you leave the hospital, but I'm sure you will see a reduction in your meds.

This was a great post. I think it's helpful to go back & read this at different times throughout this journey. I will say the emotional toll of this surgery for me has been tough. The hardest part is having family members no longer speak to you because you've lost weight & they are struggling to do so. I think it's also been harder to accept the smaller me, than the fat me... I believe with time I will get past it & hope that anyone else dealing with this will be encouraged.

Hi! My 4 month surgiversary is tomorrow. I started at 200 lbs & have lost 50 so far. I no longer take high blood pressure medicine. I still take one injection of insulin a day, but I don't have to take the three pills & one other injection anymore. I'm very thankful for this new opportunity at life, but this journey has definitely not been easy. I'm looking forward to getting some advice & connecting with others that are dealing with the same issues.
