  1. I'm a day behind you and my dr suggested doubling up the protein powder in the shakes to get more bang for your buck... that is what I've done so far since it literally takes me half the day to drink 8 oz and its allowed me to meet the protein goal both days I've been home.
  2. Ok my November 30th surgery twins... let's do this!!!
  3. And here I thought Friday, November 30th would NEVER get here!!!! Wow, is that really this Friday!!!!!
  4. Holy cow!!! We are in the final week!!!!! I honestly kept thinking this week was never going to happen. Can't wait to be on the other side!
  5. Thank you so much!!!
  6. Me too :-) lfrost77@Gmail.com
  7. On day 2 of my liquid diet and I'm starting to lose it... I can actually have fruits and vegetables but I'm restricted to 600 calories... ugh... it's going to get easier, right......
  8. My first appointment was 9/19, info sent to insurance company 10/15, approval received 10/29 and surgery is set for 11/30.
  9. So the good news is my liquid diet can include fruits, vegetables yogurt and jello... YEA!!! The bad news... I cannot have more then 600 calories a day... I was expecting to be restricted to around 1000... but 600????? Does anyone out there have a "sample menu" that they followed that stayed at 600?
  10. Exactly!!! Positive thoughts please :-)
  11. Peach... I'm in the same boat... had call from my primary this morning and I have to go back on Wednesday to have my blood work redone.... kind of scary!!!
  12. This is luck... appointment with my primary was almost 2 hours ago... they scheduled me on a day their xray tech was off... so, referral to another center was ordered... I got through 8 blood draws... yuck.. and my EKG... then added a flu shot ONLY to find out the EKG machine wasn't working.. so a referral to another center that could do both the chest xray and EKG still today... get to the new place to get everything completed and I've been in line for 45 mins... ugh! I'm so stinking hungry!!!
  13. This is luck... appointment with my primary was almost 2 hours ago... they scheduled me on a day their xray tech was off... so, referral to another center was ordered... 14. Today I will see my primary care physician for my pre-op testing... then next week I will go over the results with my surgeon in my pre-op appointment... anyway, when I received the packet for what to have done it stated NO food or liquids starting at midnight the night before. I asked my primary and they had no clue why they would require that. I'm having an EKG, chest X-ray and blood work done.... my appointment isn't for another 8 hours and all I want is some freaking water! Anyone else have this restriction before testing was done???
  15. Suznc that is awesome! I have my preop tests tomorrow with my primary care physician.... oddly I'm more nervous for that then surgery... I hate blood draws! the countdown really is in, isn't it!
  16. I'm really not that worried about it... when I made the decision to have surgery I thought I'd never be able to quit smoking... then I walked out of my 1st appointment with my surgeon and never picked up another one. To me this entire process is a challenge that I am not going to let myself lose! I started using protein shakes for breakfast in September and I actually think by the end of this week I'm going to replace one more meal a day with another shake. I'm sooooooo ready to be on the other side of the waiting game!
  17. My surgery is the 30th and I start my liquid diet on the 15th... I'm lucky, my family is very supportive and agreed, if I don't want to be around the food, I don't have to be. We might just get together for some movies and games and skip the big meal all together.
  18. I should add I've already been doing shakes for breakfast since August... I quit smoking for the first time ever after 15 years the day I had my initial appointment with my surgeon in September and I think I'm ready for my next challenge I think I will give it a try.... at least for 2 meals a day... here's hoping I don't hate myself for it in the long run!
  19. My Dr. wants a 2 week liquid diet and even though I wouldn't have to start it until 11/15 I am currently considering starting a modified version in the next day or so.... 2 shakes a day and lean protein for one meal. Once I start his diet it will be liquid for all meals... I'm just worried that I might burn myself out on shakes if I'm not careful... any thoughts?
  20. Thank you! I thought it couldn't come soon enough... now with the added appointments I need to get done I'm worried I don't have enough time... what a roller coaster!
  21. Just found out today! November 30!!!!
  22. FINALLY! I received the call today! I am approved and surgery set for November 30th!!! I couldn't be more excited!!!!!
  23. Found out today that the insurance coordinator never sent my info in last week like she said she would... And she's been on vacation this week. SERIOUSLY!?! I'm trying so ard to stay patient!
  24. I originally found it online but I checked the health market section of our local Hy-Vee and they actually had it cheaper (I'm in Iowa)
