I was allowed sugar free Popsicles and jello also crystal lite

My surgery has been cancelled and rescheduled 3 times in 2 months, so so frustrating! The Dr always wants 1 more test, which is fine, but on 9-17-12 I went in for my pre-op only to have it cancelled again. Now the Dr says im high risk and wants to do my surgery in a hosp that has an ICU. I have cirrhosis due to fatty liver, no alcohol,drugs in my life. I'm curious to see if anyone else out there has liver disease and had this surgery? The main reason I'm having GPS is for my liver, diabetes , my gastro highly recommended surgery to stop the liver damage and possibly reverse damage that is there. I wasn't nervous or scared until the other day when words like high risk and ICU were used. I appreciate any comments or peace of mind. Marta

I had 4 mini candy bars. I'm having surgery in a week. So pissed at myself been on preop diet for a week and have lost 11 lbs also been walking and BAM 4 candies! Will walk longer tomorrow. Wish I had WILLPOWER. How bad you all think I did?

Worm you wrote exactly what I'm going thru. My parents have passed, I know they both would of been supportive. I'm not married, I live with my son, his wife and 2 kids. He doesn't take anything to do with me seriously. Main reason I'm having this surgery is my Dr told me my liver would be severely damaged within 2 years. I've been in the hospital for internal bleeding and received a blood transfusion. I was alone the entire time. I could go on and on. I used to cry and get upset, I just do what I gotta do and move forward and think about taking care of me. My brother is also passed and my sister lives in Australia, no other family, I have a close friend but she's in Virginia and I'm in California. I know my mom is always with me and that's all I need. Hang in there worm, concentrate on your life. If you ever need to talk or vent. I'm a great listener.

Hi there girl. Have you started your pre op yet? I started on Tuesday and it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm getting very nervous and excited. Let me know how you are doing

I would def ck with your Dr to be on safe side. Might be gas or acid. I also take ambien with no stomach upset. Do you take Prilosec or something similar ? Good Luck to you

Today was day 1 of my pre op diet, my surgery is nov 8. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I had a total of 480 calories today, tomorrow I'm going to walk walk walk. I feel sad and not sure why I don't have a very good support system here at home!

Thanks everyone for the responses. I woke better this morning, decided my pity party was a drag Lol. I told myself I would only weigh myself once a week but I just had to see so I lost 4 Lbs in 2 days! I walked today, did my regular yoga routine and got some resistance bands to try out. I'm really not that hungry, but I did cheat and have a nonfat 90 Cal low sugar yogurt, it was heavenly.

I just started using fitness pal today. I think it's going to help me a lot

Hi girl we share the same surgery date 11-8 and I'm also looking for things to buy for post op. I was thinking SF Jello SF tapioca crystal light broth purée some bean Soup SF Popsicles Protein smoothies oatmeal or cream of wheat. I see the Nut on Monday to pick up my pre op shakes and I will ask her for some ideas and then post. Good luck and YAY FOR US!

Hmm the zoo, not sure of SD county but OC has tons of stuff D-land ,Knotts Pretend city and big malls always have stuff like ice rinks, Ferris wheel , nice aquarium in Long Beach and the tide pools in Laguna Beach. How old are your kids? I'm a 52 and a grandma to a 3 yr old boy and newborn baby girl, I have 2 wonderful sons and don't let my age scare you LOL I'm a very young acting Granny!

Thank You all for your positive remarks! Yes my Dr is highly regarded his name is Dr. Quebbamann. Nothing will stop me from having this procedure , but at times I feel like they think "maybe she will quit" Lol. My surgery is scheduled for Nov , I'm 5'2 260 lbs. Thanks again Marta
