  1. I am new to the forums. This is one of the only ones I have found for people who went abroad for RNY. I had surgery on April 19, 2012 and will be 4 months post op in a few days. I have lost 76 pounds and feel really good about that, but still have along way to go. The dis-advantage to going abroad is the follow-ups. I am in contact with my Dr and Nut thru emails and such , but it still isnt the same a going to their office for a real follow up. That is were my GP has been a saint and doing follow ups and the blood work....ect. Would luv to talk with others who went abroad for RNY.

    Monterrey Mexico-Dr. Rumbaut

Please. if you are considering going abroad for your sugery, do your homework and research the doctors, but PLEASE be VERY careful if you plan to go to Tijuana Mexico, during my research for mexico a lady had just died in Tijuana and there have been many bad reports about doctors in that location.
  3. THANKS everyone for your support and imput... I really needed it.. Things are getting better. I started crocheting a baby blacket for my son who is expecting his first child and my husband and I have started walking again, and I have gone 3 days without grazing which has helped me feel more in-control.
  4. Just wondering if anyone else has gone thru this hunger--change. I have been battling the hunger for several weeks now. I have done pretty good till about a month ago. I know our pouch heals and that change is normal and even expected. But I feel like a hungry hippo-- and yes i get plenty of protein per day. I usually drink two protein drinks a day and eat 3 times a day. I have been grazing...which i am trying to get control of, and fighting with my head--telling it i am NOT REALLY HUNGRY... I know my weight loss has slowed down to just a few pounds a month, but i think that is normal too the closer we get to goal. Will the hunger---hungry hippo feeling pass???? or will I have to learn to live with this????
  5. I remember going into my room and sitting on my bed and just crying just after my surgery. The head-hunger was KILLER. It takes time for the brain to register the changes, and some effort on your part to help it along. Cant say there is a perfect fix, but it does get better with time.

    southbeach

I have had 4 different doctors recommend south beach diet, pre-op. The closer to surgery date you will need to give up fizzy drinks, and follow a pro-op diet your dr likes. They differ from doctor to doctor. Good Luck

    Tired! Need advice

I went thru several months of being tired, and seems like a lot of people say they did too. I think its part of our bodies way of adjusting to all the changes we have put it thru with the surgery and stuff.. Keep up with all vitamins and stuff and stay on top of lab-work. Hopefully it will pass soon.

I understand. I had a bleed and went back in for emergency surgery. I had to stay in the hospital in Mexico for 6 days instead of the planned 2. I was blessed my son was with me, but the rest of my family was back here in the states. The follow ups are impossible in person and emails just aren't the same. How are you doing now with the stricture issue? And how have you progressed with your life change and weight loss?
