  1. I played soccer after 6 weeks. Just talk with your doctor and find out what they allow.
  2. I would think then that you are not eating that much food. I ALWAYS feel when I eat too much. It feels like thanksgiving dinner fullness. I don't throw up if I eat too much, it just hurts. I don't dump on carbs or sugar either.
  3. It is normal to feel this way. It will pass and one day you will be able to eat what you want, but just much smaller portions. Go somewhere and have a really good cry - I felt so much better after I did. Remember your fat cells are releasing hormones right now an you will be a little more on edge. I hated reading my following line when I was going through it, but trust me It does get better!!! Hang in there!!!
  4. I do on the occasion when I want the taste, but the first sip always hurts and burns my pouch. The rest of the sips don't hurt as bad, but I only have a few.
  5. I just want to inflate the Water balloon look of my boobs. At my age they should not touch my belly button!
  6. I guess I have been really lucky. I did not have anyone that was negative about my surgery in the beginning stages. My in laws were the ones I was most scared to tell, but to my surprise my brother in law has been thinking about having it and they were very supportive. I have been very honest when people ask me what I did to lose the weight I tell them. Especially if they themselves are overweight. I feel like it is my duty to show people that this works and not everyone has complications an issues or gain it back. I almost see as my chance to spread the good word. I have one person that drives me nuts at work. She keeps telling me I am too skinny. She proclaims her happiness with her fat to everyone. Although she has gotten under my skin about it at times at the end of the day I feel compassion for her. One day she will wake up and realize she is not happy, and if I still know her I will tell her about my surgeon. Remember most of the negative comments are coming from people that are jealous. For years we were considered the fat friend, and now we threaten that role in their lives. They know we will change and it is for the better. You are taking control of your life and standing up to live your life. Good luck
  7. My doc said I could do the sleeve, and always return for the bypass. I only wanted one surgery and figured I should go for everything. I liked the idea of malabsorption with bypass. My reason for having the bypass was to get off of steroids. I figured if I was still taking them after the surgery and my hunger was not changed at least I would not absorb all the calories.
  8. I had some one yesterday not believe it was me. It was kind of fun to see her reaction when I showed her pictures.
  9. Yes he has put on some weight, but last year he was training for the police academy and had dropped a lot of weight doing so. Now it is my turn to try out for the academy!
  10. Thanks everyone. I never thought I would be this happy with my new life. I wished I had done this several years ago.
  11. I love wearing dress now and no need for under shorts. There is no rubbing that I can tell. I do have to remember I am in a dress though and after many many years of wearing pants you forget to be a lady sometimes????
  12. My doc assured me there is nothing that can stretch out your pouch. He said over time we find foods that we are able to eat in larger quantities. For example chicken is always heavy for me, but shrimp feels lighter. I tend to feel like I eat more when I eat shrimp. Make sense? Hope that helps!
  13. The carbonation hurts. I will have a few sips when i really want the taste.
  14. I enjoy going and trying on a size and saying I think that size is too big. Today I went shopping for jeans and found out I was a size 2. I went in wearing a 6! Oh and I love wearing dressed now. Before the surgery my wardrobe consisted of jeans and t-shirts. Now I want dresses and shorts! I have also found that I really like bright colors.
  15. So today is my 10th wedding anniversary. Last year we went to Benihana for dinner and they took a picture of us. Well my husband wanted to go back and get a photo again. We both just sat at the table and looked at the pictures in wonderment. I can't believe it!!! SW 256 CW 140 surgery date 6/5/12. I LOVE my new life!

  17. Well I have good news and bad news. Good news - yes it does get better Bad news - it may get worse before it gets better
  18. Some days I drink shakes and some I don't. It really depends on my activity level for the day. You do not just have to drink shakes to get in your protein. Try using double pasteurized egg whites. You can add them to any drink and you do not taste it. It turns a drink with 0 protein in to one with protein. I still struggle with chicken and turkey as well. I find I eat a lot of fish and meat as my protein sources.
  19. I am almost a year post op and there really is not anything that I can not eat. It is about portion control.
  20. Have you ever thought about other ways to measure your success. Why does it always have to be about the number. For example you could judge it by your clothes fitting. When I hated getting on the scale I judged my weight by my toes. In the shower I would look straight down and determine where I could see my toes. I knew it was time for surgery when my toes disappeared. I am proud to say I can now see my toes and half of my feet. Be creative an find something that will work for you if you know the scale will make you obsessed and stressed out.
  21. My first thought was gallbladder. My pain was in the area you describe. If the pain has lasted two days I would call the doc. Certain foods make gallbladder worse. Dairy is a trigger food and if you just ate some cheese then I would lean towards gallbladder. When I was in the hospital for my gallbladder they had to figure out if it was an ulcer or the gallbladder. I was convinced it was my gallbladder, but the surgeon at the hospital said it was an ulcer. He even bet me 5 dollars that he was right. I should have collected my money because I won that bet. The pains are very similar from my understanding. My other thought was that it sound like dumping. The feeling of having to lie down is what dumping felt like to me.
  22. Oh trust me I had the feeling of - did I lose my damn mind - why in the hell did I do this to my body. It is normal. I actually cried like a baby in the doctors office. Thankfully he is a great doctor and took time to help me out. He got me on meds to help the nausea and throwing up.
