I had complications and wad in hospital 5 days. Blood pressure and oxygen problem. Since coming home from hospital it has been a challenge. One day I can tolerate a certain food and the next not so much. I got something caught and got really sick. The good my diabetes stabalized before left hospital. Now I no longer take medication for it. I have also lost about 50 pounds.

I had my surgery 4/27/12. My hubby is scheduled for surgery 7/10/12. Should be good doing it together but in my case it has been hard for me. I worry about it being to hard for him. I so hope not. Good luck to the both of you.

Good luck to all of you. And walking is extremely important. I am 5 weeks post op and I was up walking 3 hours after I got to my room from surgery.

I have had that problem too. I have noticed the more liquids I get the better it goes. My doctor said to take milk of magnesia. Thankfully, I have not had to do that yet but its been close.

I am 4 weeks out last Friday. I can honestly say that I haven't really felt great since day one after surgery. Last night I developed pain in chest. It was horrible and it continued every time I tried to eat anything or lay down. Called doc to said he thought something was stuck in pouch or opening. Told me to get meat tenderizer and warm water and SIP for a hour 6 oz. I didn't even get in 15 mins before started vomiting badly. Now I feel weak and dehydrated. I'm still wondering what have I done to myself. On the up side, if there is one....I have lost 42 pounds since I left the hospital.

I was wondering about sugar free gum. I guess that explains it. Are we allowed sugar free mints?

Ok I guess. Struggling with proteins and water. My belly area by belly button is so very sore ( that is the port where the most work is done). I had the lap r-n-y and they also fixed my umbilical hernia. What did you have?

I too am having trouble with protein shakes. I can't find one that I like longer than one time. I would much rather get my protein from food instead. One day at a time seems to be the way to go. One day something tastes good and the next not so much. It is very confusing.

Thanks. It's nice to know that I am not the only one with these feelings. I do think I used food to cope at times. It understood me when so many didn't. The wrong way to handle lifes dramas but what can I say. I am trying to deal with all of the new changes but I am very overwhelmed at the moment.

I am 3 weeks post op. I feel strange at times very overwhelmed, then angry, then sad. I am very frustrated with food. Things taste good one day and the next not so much. Anyone else feel this way sometimes?
