I think what you are feeling is normal. I am scheduled for the 8th, and my pre-op diet starts tomorrow. Now that more people know about my surgery I am more afraid of failing. All we can do is the best we can and leave the rest to God!

My pre op diet starts Sunday!

I would think it would be okay to travel if you don't have any complications and can get enough Fluid in. The folks traveling from surgery don't typically seem to have issues. I would mention it to your surgeon just to be safe though! A vacation sounds fun! I have one coming up but not until July.

Laura, my version of the full liquid diet includes 3 protein drinks per day plus 3 snacks of yogurt or low fat milk plus 2 strained cream soups per day. I am sure your nutritionist wiki have a similar plan, but it may vary slightly. This is only for days 8-10 of the pre op diet for me.

Joy my surgery date is January 8, and I am getting very nervous about the preop diet too. I go on Monday for a 3 hour appointment that includes the final nutrition class and an appointment with dr Le to talk about meds and such. I am nervous because they tell you not to gain more than 10 lbs. I haven't gained that much but I have gained a little. I am just disappointed that I haven't lost any. What does your coordinator think about your approval? I was under the impression that they would be fairly confident you would get approved since they don't have a self pay option. My BMI is just over 40 so my insurance approved me even though I only have one if their "serious" comorbidities.

I haven't been having real food funerals or anything but I haven't lost anything either. I scheduled my final pre-op nutrition class and appointment with the surgeon for Dec 23rd! So soon. I am more stressed about the pre-op diet than anything but at least it is only 10 days, and liquids only for the final 4 days.....

20 lbs?! I would be totally freaking out. I only have to maintain but I can gain up to 10 lb before I will be in risk of delaying surgery. I just realized this morning that I only have 7 more working days until surgery! It's because of the holidays but wow! That puts it into perspective.

New start I am right there with you. I am 1/8 and I still haven't gotten a date for my pre op appt and nutrition class. Pre op diet starts 12/30 so it will need to be soon!

We are surgery day buddies Amanda! I am really nervous about the pre-oP diet too. Mine is 10 days.

So if you're bleeding during surgery how do you wear a pad? Can you wear underwear? What about a tampon? I will ask the nurse but am trying to think ahead so I don't sound like an idiot, lol.

My nut also said no gummy vitamins, because of the iron issue and the gummies don't have enough minerals in them. Right now I use centrum chewables and they are better than the bariatric sample I got from the doctor as far as taste. Pretty much the same as far as nutrition, except post op I will have to take 2 per day

I don't have any specific number I have to meet, just the 10 day pre-op diet. Between my initial appointment and my final appointment I can't gain any more than 10 lb or my surgery will be postponed. So far I have gained 3, but I have also cut out all sweets, given up coffee, and started going to the gym 3 days a week.

I sometimes have to reopen the app for it to work right. I have told my husband, sister, sister in law, and brother. I will tell my kids closer to surgery day. I will have to tell my boss but I don't think I will give him details just enough to get the time off if work. I don't really care to tell anyone else and so far everyone has been good except my brother who made kind of a snotty comment about a friend who had the surgery then grained all the weight back.

I am interested in this as well. It will probably be my tom during surgery. I wonder if the stress of surgery will make it worse than usual

Lovelaura, I am in OK but am using a different surgeon. Good luck with Dr. Walton! I have heard great things about his practice . My insurance requires me to go elsewhere, but my PCP initially recommended them.

I am January 8th also! My pre-op diet is 10 days so I guess it will start on Dec 30. next week I will schedule my pre-op appointment.

Awesome! That's funny my birthday is the 19th also. I didn't even think about that. Even more reason to wait.

I will be sleeved January 8, 2014! So relieved to be approved and ready to move forward. I could have chosen Dec 18, but I have to wait for January because my deductible will be much lower starting in January. ) I have a 2 week pre-op diet and it starts on Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to me!
