  1. Mine took 6 days. Business days.
  2. I also have uhc and heard the same thing. I called uhc and was told my provider could call a special number to get the approval number. Doc office did that and everything is moving forward.
  3. Do you know what the grounds for denial are?
  4. A catheter won't be an issue. Different holes I'd suggest a pad. You prolly won't want the deal with reaching down to put in/take out a tampon.
  5. I called today and found out I am approved! Now I have to get the surgery scheduled and do the 2 week liquid diet.
  6. Well I don't know about every 5 minutes, bit I have called every day to check on it
  7. So, I read a stat today that said that 80% of folks who have had bariatric surgery get divorced within 2 years. I'm wondering if that applies to anyone here.
  8. Thanks for all these replies. Now that I am waiting for approval, I'm finding these posts interesting and a little scary!
  9. Yep, I'm waiting too. Just had my last consult with the surgeon and all my paperwork gets submitted tomorrow.
  10. I have UHC too. How long until you heard from them?
  11. I met with my surgeon today and I liked him a lot! He spent at least an hour with me, which I was surprised about. Surgeons are usually so damn arrogant you are lucky if they make eye contact! Anyway, everything gets submitted to my insurance tomorrow and the waiting begins. I hope it doesn't take long to hear back!
  12. I go next week to consult with the surgeon. I've done all the pre- op stuff. What should I expect at this appointment?
  13. Good question. I also had my gallbladder out and am wondering the same thing.
  14. I think I need to get some counseling along with my surgery to deal with my emotional eating issues but I'm not sure how to locate someone who specializes in this. I can easily find people who specialize in anorexia/bulimia, but not overeating or emotional eating. Advice?
  15. No, my insurance does not require that the 6 months be consecutive. I didn't "miss" June- my doc was on vacation and so I was unable to get an appointment.
  16. This just occurred to me today....so my insurance requires 6 months supervised diet. I met with my PCP in May, July, August, September. Would my insurance "count" May, since it was the initiation of the diet?
  17. I have UHC but I haven't submitted for approval yet. I look forward to others' replies.
  18. Okay, maybe "killing me" is a big dramatic.... But- I am not a patient person when it comes to delayed gratification. So all this waiting is hard for me. My insurance requires 6 months of doc visits and I have 2 more months of that. THEN, I have to wait to hear if I'm approved. THEN, assuming I am approved (which is certainly no guarantee) I have to wait to find out when surgery can be scheduled. How do you deal with all this WAITING??
  19. Wow- this sounds so much like me! First off, your hubby sounds like an amazing, caring guy! Second, I, too, hate clothes shopping. In terms of how I take care of myself, I've tried to start living my post-sleeve life as much as possible. By that I mean, I go to the gym, watch what I eat, try to be healthier. But mainly, I tell myself that I may have let myself get to this point (that is, this weight), but I'm also on a track to change that.
  20. For me, I liked that it leaves most of the digestive system intact. The amount of excess weight lost with VSG was better than with a lap band.
  21. Yes to the folding chair thing! Summer is the worst for this with lawn chairs and such.
  22. I found it! http://asmbs.org/member-search/
  23. Wow. I hope my insurance doesn't require a COE, since the nearest one is 8 hours away! There are only 12 in the entire US!
