  2. Hi has anyone else had Dr Chengalis? I will go see him for the first time this coming Thursday. I started this process in Aug and I have BCN of MI. I went to a seminar with him and liked his personality.
  3. Hi everyone & thanks for all the replies. I guess I knew my skin will be loose. it already is loose from gaining and losing weight so many times. I know I have not had a flat stomach since I was 11 years old. I know I will have to have some surgery in the future. I finally see the surgeon this coming Thursday. I will hopefully get a date for surgery. I started this process last August. My insurance requires 6 month supervision. They did not require a weight loss number or even a percent. I am holding my own at this point and have not gained any weight. I have been exercising and have given up pop and bread. I will have to start the liquid diet with one meal 10 days before surgery. I have been a little down lately. I am wondering has anyone else felt doubts because of age. I am 51. I am asking myself is this really going to work?
  4. Hello everyone, I am close to being sleeved. I just need the OK to schedule with the surgeon to get my date. anyway.....I was wondering what your experiences with loose skin are. I am 51 and I don't think any of my skin will shrink at my age. I am 5'6 and 242 down from high if 258. I do exercise.
  5. Hi Cupcake. I originally was on the Beaumont diet and got a referral for that. Then I switched over to the process for the sleeve and never got another referral since its good for so many months. I just got the referral renewed. I went to my primary doc when i was sick and told him I was getting the surgery. He OK'd the test for the scope and I told him it was for surgery clearance. No one told me I had to have an OK from him. I assume they think its OK since he renewed my referral for the visits. What hospital are you using and why do you have to wait two months for surgeon?
  6. Hello, I am too close to being done . I have been medically supervised for 6 months, I gained weight during this time and then really thought about it and got serious and lost 16lbs. I am waiting for my clearance letter from endoscopy. My primary wasn't at all encouraging when I told him about my surgery. I am going through Beaumont in Royal Oak MI and have BCN of MI. I had to get a referral to be seen for the weight loss program but I think my primary would have rather seen me go to the hospital he uses. No one ever told me I had to get an OK for the surgery from my primary. I was told that all I needed was the clearance letter and then I will make an appointment with surgeon (he will give me my date), take a class on how to do pre opp diet and start diet two weeks before surgery which consists of 4 shakes a day and one meal. It seems the 6 monthw went by quick although it did not at first. I am happy for you you have done great in your wight loss!
  7. I was wondering if anyone else has gained weight during this process. I started my six month timeline 8/13 (required by BCN of MI) and I gained 10 lbs. I have lost eight of those pounds again. I was just wondering what others peoples experiences were. They did not give me a weight loss goal. I have not yet started the liquid diet. I am going to my final 6 month appt and hopefully will get a surgery date. I had been living in a kind of fog not really believing it is going to happen. I do know how serious this is and I know what I am supposed to do. I am on the right track now.
  8. Hi MKG, I will also have surgery sometime in April. I am goin through Beaumont in Royal Oak, MI. I have BCN of MI. I only have copays for office visit. I try to schedule all appts on same day each month.
  9. Hello everyone, I am getting sleeved 3/14. I was wondering if my energy level will come back. I am 51 5'6 and weigh 254. I am tired all the time. Anyone?
  10. Hello, my nsme is Peggy and I stsrted the 6 month ptocess @ the end of Aug BCN of MI requies it. They call it supervised nutrition counseling. They dont require certain lbs 2 lose. I went to seminar first. I have seen a nurse practioner, dietician(did I spell that right), 1 doc who lets u know what tests u need b4 surgery and I had my phych eval. I also saw an exercise specialist who just wants me 2 add exercise slowly. I have 2 go back in Nov to go over my results 4 phych eval.
  11. Hello 50s, I am 51 and having the surgery in March '13. I was thinking I was 2 old for this and started 2 thin my life was over. I have read how many people around my age on this site have made it and realize there is hope and I can lose and feel great. I am not 2 old, I will feel good again!!
  12. Hey Kay, thats great my psych appt is also tomarrow!! I am a liittle bummed though. I went 2 c the nutritionist yesterday and she said I am lookin at March for surgery not Feb as I thought. I started out with just the WL program but switched over in Aug. I must of not have gotten the right appts in Aug. My ins BCN OF MI requires 6 months of weight loss counseling. I missed 2 months of the other program. It must b documented. I am so glad 2 c u all on thus forum.
  13. Hi Annie and fellow soon 2 b sleevers. I chose Dr David Chengelis (Beaumont, Royal Oak, MI) He was @ the seminar. He has lots of experience & I like his personality.
